This group of people had no idea that this wasn't a petting zoo. There are a few groups of "tourists" that need to be permanently banned from getting anywhere near the guards and horses. Then, there's another group of "tourists" who have to be upfront, close and personal, to get that perfect picture/video, so that they can tell all their friends at home, "look at what I caught on camera; I was right there watching the whole thing." These people refuse to give the horse and guard space just for that perfect picture. If they can't respect the guards/horses, they need to be banned, too. Get educated about London's military before "visiting", to understand why they do what they do, instead of making fun of them.

I agree, as 'normal protocol' is that after 3 attempts the horse is taken back to the stables - trying to force the horse to stay only upsets it more, thereby endangering the trooper, guard, horse, and the public - trying to force a 1400-1600 lb horse to do something it has decided it will not do is being a complete eejit -
They both need another trot around St James's park and have a carrot for staying in the box. Also it is MOD property so maybe no through tourist traffic in the courtyard.
Something seems to have upset both horses at the same time! I noticed that wee smile from the guard when both horses met up in the middle. "Thank goodness it's not just me then!" 😂 I also see a lot of tourists who don't seem too concerned about a bloody big horse who is obviously unsettled being near them. Even when asked to get out of the way, they were very slow about it. I even noticed one lady cutting through the box!!! Do they genuinely not understand how much damage a horse can do?
I have no Club where you are from , but These are war Horses, way you don’t Walk up to a Police on a Mount and Stick your Hand in his Face and watch what Happens , nothing wrong with the Animal ,is the disrespect , ignorant Tourist . The way the first horse was salivating and pushing on that bit makes me wonder if his mouth was sore or something wasn't fitting right. But I notice that he sure doesn't like the poop on the floor! I've seen before where these horses will react to a previous horse's poop or pee smells and act up. Can't blame them. Those boxes should be mucked often. But well done to the troopers and guards.
bridle and tack adjustments should be checked before horses are deployed. poorly fitted bit seems to be a frequent problem. also, with both horses so disturbed, there may be a group in the crowd out front that is wearing something that exudes an odor that disturbs them. they seem to be fine in the courtyard
These horses are a tradition and for tourists, period. A different breed should be selected for this particular "job" and trained more for dealing with crowds of people. I also get the impression that these horses are full of energy that needs releasing. Maybe have them run around in a pasture before being put to work. They probably spent all night standing in a stable, then got saddled up and now have to stand still in front of a bunch of people. Not a good life.
I'm afraid you are very wrong. These horses are specially bred to become serving equines in the military. They are extremely well cared for and only have to stand there for an hour. Horses are on their feet in a field when they are grazing so an hour is not much. This one's having an 'off' day. Ever had one yourself?
