There is just nothing to criticize sensibly about JessieJ because there is absolutely nobody on this show that could perform what she performed better than her. And on top of that, it will be hard to find good enough singers in the whole world to make better singing covers of "I have nothing", "Killing me softly", "My heart will go on", "Ain't nobody", ..., .., . and all the other songs. People can sing other versions of the songs and make them special, but not many will be able to sing them with the capability level of JessieJ. If any other contestant sang exactly this performance you'd be in awe and not criticize one bit because it was world class singing and everybody knows it. JessieJ has spoiled you two with too many excellent performances so I understand why you act like you do and raise the bar only for her. When Jessie J stopped by the end I thought she was emotional and was tearing up because this is the last round for of the competition after 10 weeks, then it will be the final. I thought she smiled to stopped herself from tearing up.

I just want to say that M'Angel that you are beautiful. I honestly believe that Jessie J is between a rock and a hard place in this competition. She is competing as a vocalist and fighting to be herself and show her vocal range/ability at the same time..... as well as be relatable to a Chinese audience. It's a bit of a tightrope. One of the things that I feel is happening, is that Jessie J is also holding back a bit. She is highly criticized for her vocal runs. Her runs are matchless and unique to her. I believe that she tried to rein in her tendency to place her Jessie J stamp on a song and take it somewhere else. Actually, Christina wasn't the original singer on the movie. Christina covered it and it was phenomenal. Jessie seemed to want to keep it classical and beautiful and she accomplished that. I didn't miss the Christina notes. I didn't want to hear Jessie's version of Christina. However, I did miss Jessie J's runs and high notes. I loved the performance. It was very touching and I could see how heartfelt the lyrics are to her. Thanks again for the reaction
I guess you weren't able to understand that the final break wasn't for smiling to the audience or receiving applause, it was an emotional break because the music has a very powerful lyrics and also means a lot to Chinese people (as it is a Disney movie placed in China). She picked this song because her Chinese fans were asking all the time and she was able to deliver it in a groundbreaking performance. In My heart will go on, the break was also emotional, she had to leave the competition to go back to London to treat her heart condition and the music is all about heart. To critique the details of the performance you both have to watch the part where she explains why she chose particularly that music and what it represents to her. The version is not a Lea one, more of Christina's I think. I can see the resemblance from Christina's from the belting (where Lea's dont go belt like that). Yes, re-arrangement was made to have the background to sound oriental (to make it somehow sound like Lea's version) but the way Jessie J sang this is, it is more of Christina's.
The audience loves emotional. That's all that matters. Got her #1 from them. Everyone on Singer are expected to NOT sing the songs like the original. Hua Hua (#2) is famous for his songs re-arrangements. It's one of the reasons why they're the top contenders. Zang (one the remaining original contestants) learned from Hua Hua how to rap in one of his songs and got #1. But, he's now back to his traditional sound and he's back near the bottom. Even Tangger is 4th place because he "got it" about modifying his songs. Plus, he has stage "swag" like Jessie, Hua Hua and Angela.

Jessie J did great. But for me, base from the melody, lyrics and the emotion of the song, i think i'll go with a crystal voice that'll melt our hearts, so for me, Lea Salonga's movie version is way by far the best :)
None of the contestants are involved in the instrumental arrangements for their performances, the show has professional composers who do that. I think the singers are allowed to have some kind of input, but that's probably the most involvement they can have. :)
Jessies heart condition is a serious arrhythmia problem. Its called Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome, it can come on at any time when the heart starts racing excessively 200 plus beats per minute. She has no choice but to take pauses if it is necessary.
Don’t forget she doesn’t arrange these songs as much as she is an amazing singer she doesn’t compose or arrange songs so don’t blame her for stopping when you don’t know that it was her choice. The reactions I have seen, seem to be contradictory. A lot of critiques. The comments part of it seems to dull down the preformance that was just seen. Also, have you guys ever been taken by an emotion that makes you feel something in your soul and your reaction is to smile and just want to take it in? Those are the pause moments that jessie j does. Also, the thing about how jessie j preforms, i don't see her putting on a act nessasarily but she is being herself while singing. So when she pauses...she isn't breaking character because she wasnt in character to begin with. She was just being jessie j. I have so much respect for you two, M-Angel & Ovela, as well as with your opinions. You're my favorite youtube reactors. For me, Jessie J did an amazing cover of the song. And I think the reason why she kept it Classical/Disneyish is to relate to the chinese audience since the "Reflection" is a disney movie, Mulan, soundtrack...which is a movie based on an acient chinese legend/heroin. Imagine Jessie J singing it in another version (Christina version) in front of Chinese people who knew the song & the movie well... Am sure the chinese would not appreciate it that much.
Let's put it this way... reflection is a Mulan soundtrack for the chinese and a christina song for a christina fan. I hope that make sense. :) More power and God bless you always.
Jessie is one of those rare singers who can sing any fucking thing and yet is not appreciated she deserves all the awards and shit but she gets none of it it’s so amazing to me that she isn’t huge there’s so many singers who can’t do half of what she can do and get so much success

She did her arrangement drawing from Lea's version not Christina. Christina's was pop. This was more theatrical. I might add that your opinions do seem kind of biased. The version is not a Lea one, more of Christina's I think. I can see the resemblance from Christina's from the belting (where Lea's dont go belt like that). Yes, re-arrangement was made to have the background to sound oriental (to make it somehow sound like Lea's version) but the way Jessie J sang this is, it is more of Christina's.

The audience loves emotional. That's all that matters. Got her #1 from them. Everyone on Singer are expected to NOT sing the songs like the original. Hua Hua (#2) is famous for his songs re-arrangements. It's one of the reasons why they're the top contenders. Zang (one the remaining original contestants) learned from Hua Hua how to rap in one of his songs and got #1. But, he's now back to his traditional sound and he's back near the bottom. Even Tangger is 4th place because he "got it" about modifying his songs. Plus, he has stage "swag" like Jessie, Hua Hua and Angela.

And this is not just about this video, there is quite a number of singers they react to and they always look for the “runs.” Hahaha.
Jessie J did great. But for me, base from the melody, lyrics and the emotion of the song, i think i'll go with a crystal voice that'll melt our hearts, so for me, Lea Salonga's movie version is way by far the best :)

None of the contestants are involved in the instrumental arrangements for their performances, the show has professional composers who do that. I think the singers are allowed to have some kind of input, but that's probably the most involvement they can have. :)

Jessies heart condition is a serious arrhythmia problem. Its called Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome, it can come on at any time when the heart starts racing excessively 200 plus beats per minute. She has no choice but to take pauses if it is necessary.
Don’t forget she doesn’t arrange these songs as much as she is an amazing singer she doesn’t compose or arrange songs so don’t blame her for stopping when you don’t know that it was her choice. It’s a live performance and a singer...not an actress so she’s not always going to go for the acting performance she’ll go for the vocal performance so judge her on that

The reactions I have seen, seem to be contradictory. A lot of critiques. The comments part of it seems to dull down the preformance that was just seen. Also, have you guys ever been taken by an emotion that makes you feel something in your soul and your reaction is to smile and just want to take it in? Those are the pause moments that jessie j does. Also, the thing about how jessie j preforms, i don't see her putting on a act nessasarily but she is being herself while singing. So when she pauses...she isn't breaking character because she wasnt in character to begin with. She was just being jessie j. Having said that: thank you for making a reaction video, it was interesting to see your thoughts and opinions.

I like how m-angel is honest to her thoughts as to Jessie performance.
To myself as I watch that episode, it wasn't catching me but the lyrics. There's something about the arrangements is wrong through the near end chorus to last, I as Also thought that time she could switch it up like the purple rain thingy but it wasn't. Overall she is always splendid but not my type of performance. It's understandable for her condition as ovela say it's a fact that she has heart condition so she slowly do that thing it strange but understandable as I can see that episode 11.
