oh by Jove it worked, lost the manual for my 3rd party controller, and spent 3 days trying all kind of button combos to get it paired, but it just took a single cable to connect and now works flawlessly.

I recommend the retro fighters GC controller for the switch to connect the Retro fighters controller to the switch u need to have the wired controller settings on
But the Switch LITE method for Charging the controllers Battery means that the Switch Lite's ONLY battery can't be charged at the SAME time the only way round that is to get a 2nd charging NON USB cable so that both the controller and the Switch itself will stay at 100% battery life as long as BOTH are plugged in at the same time.

So I’ve looked through your video a few times now but I’m not seeing you connect the controller I need. And when I have tried the home button plus the others it flashes at me. The one I need is that Elisween one in the top left with the red and blue and it doesn’t have the normal button but all it does when I try to connect it is flash at me and vibrate. How would I connect it (not sure if this influences anything but my brother connected it to his computer at some point.)
I kinda gave up on the controller i snatched off my brother. I figured out my pokémon controller isn’t licensed nintendo, and his has an insane rumble to it, so i copped it lol. I tried many times to connect it, but it never worked. luckily the first method worked! it wasn’t even the correct controller! thank you!

I have a ps4 imitation controller with Bluetooth and usb cable, i connect it to the switch, press home button and the sswitch won't recognize it. The controller switch on the blue light like if its searching something but won't connect, also if its connect by usb swich the orange light like its charging. I cant make it work 😢 I also have a nacon controller with USB cable and also won't recognize it.

Do you have to have a double-ended USB-C wire? I have a Switch Lite, a USB-C Hub, and a Wii U Pro Controller (and it's correponding micro-USB wire). Would connecting that work?

Mine did the same, but pluged it in to my switch and hit home button and it paired right away.. not sure if you got it to work already

Yeah none of these tactics worked for my kids' third party controller. I hate Nintendo for how difficult they made this process.
