that baritone sax blends in very well with this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....very well polished diversified musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...it's so pitiful that this band is not yet in the rock n roll hall of fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a Dead Head and somehow hadn't heard this until now. It's fantastic. Great production and big sound! The sax and bass and everything else are essentially perfect. It sounds the way the Dead sounded in my head! Just Another Band From East LA indeed!
Mike, Jerry and David Hidalgo became friends and influenced each other quite a bit. Los Lobos now carries with them just a little of that musical symbiosis. As a huge fan of both bands, I like knowing David, Cesar, and LL will always carry some JG with them...seems right...
.. always loved the Dead's version, a lot.. then I took my son-in-law to a concert at the MN Zoo for his birthday (sounds funny but an absolutely awesome venue).. I've always dug LL (I was born and raised in LA, they remind me of home).. when they covered this I was knocked out.. not better/worse or any of that shit, just really kicked ass...
I just read in last month's Relix magazine about Jerry Garcia's words of wisdom to the players in Los Lobos. It is funny that so many bands have been touched by the Grateful Dead's members yet there are so many people out there that just bust on the Dead and Deadheads. Great cover to one of my favorite driving songs.
ciao Ed , yeah that is Steely Dan album . I did not hear about a dvd from that concert , or I did not see it around . Anyway will do a little search and let you know in case of positive find .
@1joanjuneau I ain't no Angelino (was born in NYC) but I can dig this lOS lOBOS MATERIAL, AND HAVE DUG 'EM A COUPLA DECADES AT LEAST, BTW I "walked thru" LA back in 1969, when a kid could do stuff like that and not get run down. I also am an accordionist and the band always has one somewhere on each album. Guess my favorite song of theirs is KIKo and One Night....But all they stand for and play about stands tall as one of the FEW LA groups still intact thi side of Chavez Ravine.
i saw them in Glastonbury (England ) way back in the eighties, they did this and rosalee--does anybody know if there going? sorry iv been out of the loop for long time.
What can one say that is not great about this this is just wonderful crap I don't mean crap is in crap I just mean wonderful stuff unbelievable yet I'm always proven Wrong by these boys I've been around for almost sixty years and there's always something new around the corner it's like the dead and these boys do what they're going to do and they kind of got together with the wife of Evangeline the Jerry and then these two boys playing West LA fadeaway what the heck my golly can it get any better anyway at least I found a good venue to visit thank you could you who investigate and get proper channels out stay safe
Stefano, I have a question? You also posted Green Earings from the Alive America album, do you know if there is a DVD of that show? The recording is perfectly recorded, and I would suspect that if it does exist, that the video is also good? Here's hoping!
Simply the best musicians in America.
that baritone sax blends in very well with this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....very well polished diversified musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...it's so pitiful that this band is not yet in the rock n roll hall of fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if anyone out there thinks "La Bamba" is all this group has to offer....WAKE THE F UP !!!!!
Freaking amazing! I've never heard such an unbelievable cover and it confirms that LL is one of the greatest bands I've heard!
Greatest rock and roll band in America!

Brendan, never pass up seeing these cats play live....i guarantee you'll walk out of that show saying "I had no idea they were this f'ing amazing!"
took my son at fourteen to see them live, still resonates with him now he's 30.
Where has this been my whole life?!?! This is so friggin' good!!! 💀⚡🌹 🎶
Hoorah for you, Los & the Dead are your SOUNDTRACK.
Heard this version on a radio show in northern N.M. about 2am.
I've never been a G.D. fan but this version kicks ass! Right On Los Lobos!
Mike, Jerry and David Hidalgo became friends and influenced each other quite a bit. Los Lobos now carries with them just a little of that musical symbiosis. As a huge fan of both bands, I like knowing David, Cesar, and LL will always carry some JG with them...seems right...
Ron hulka cool!
Karlos Badblood
Right on! I'll check it out!
They do justice to any Allman Brothers they choose to cover as well. I've heard them do a killin' version of Cream's song "Politician" too.

NEVER miss a chance to catch these cats live
Saw them at Jazz Fest a few years back...all hte ladies went to Chris Stapleton, but I wanted Los Lobos!!@@Bix12
One of the best version of this song...Los Lobos is an ass-killing-band!!!
I saw these guys at the Fillmore and Bonnie Rait sat in the entire 2nd half of the show. Amazing
and "Tin can trust" is a great example for a perfect album-production...sounds fantastic
One of the best, saw them in 86 in Cincinnati, great show.
Love it. Slick take on an already sweet tune.
Jamming out to Los Lobos a big hello from Santa Rosa Tx.
The 2nd Dead tune that they covered. In my "LL" playlist. with the original version. Thanks for the upload!
great version from a great band

We're too busy grooving to notice people busting on us! 😀
About The Dead> For who get it no explanation is necessary,
For those that don’t no explanation will do 😎✌️🇺🇸
I remember back in 1992 i went to a Halloween party they performed live. Smash pit and all. Greatest party i been to.
Reminds me of how great their version of Bertha is too.
They do a great version of Bertha too!
BADASS COVER!!!
just rock and Roll..Love it..

Dig this song but by Los Lobos as I was never really into the Dead.
Awesome Dead cover

David Hidalgo is a master musician.
Cool cover
Nice Cover of a Grateful Dead song
i saw them in Glastonbury (England ) way back in the eighties, they did this and rosalee--does anybody know if there going? sorry iv been out of the loop for long time.
They're still going strong! They come here to Chicago once or twice a year.
6 years later and can confirm not only do they still go... They still kick ass. Saw them two nights in a row in Kauai.. Damn.
