      Never really owned any denon but relating to old stuff apart from myself I'm still using lovely mono blocks from yesteryear but still going strong. They were fully restored getting on for ten years ago now I bet but only to insure they kept on going I mean why get rid if they still work and give great pleasure. It's a testament to old marantz build quality that my old model 9 are still sounding wonderful as for this denon I don't think it's a bad price at all if it's that well made it will last for years. I don't see point of constantly changing equipment if you buy well first time around and like the way it performs bloody well keep it.

    This amp is a master piece and it will age like fine wine, most electronics become obsolete this thing is built like a tank, and no expense has been spared, its meant to be passed on from father to son.... and the sound wowzers! Crips, clear and powerful, very underrated on the what this unit can do.... most companies jack up their nominal wattage, but Denon has been humble and understated as to what this unit can truly do. Those who have tested it with expensive bench gear are pleasantly surprised. A master quality work. Never selling mine, EVER, from my cold dead hand....

      Hi! I’m inclined to change my current setup with the pma-110, since I have the dcd-a110. My current setup being the combo Pioneer c73/m73 preamp and power amp from the 90s. But I’m not convinced that the Denon will be a night and day difference with my Focals Aria 948. Unfortunately I cannot test the Denon. Any thoughts? Thank you!

      @@anmic3590 Dont know the m73/c73 but the specs and looks are nice. However, keep in mind that for the anniversary Denon told their engineers not to spare a single penny, to make sure all the components were the top of the line in the pma-110 and this is why everyone who has bench tested the device says that the actual performance far exceeds the specs, in some cases by as much as 50%. They actually out did themselves by putting the best parts and the unit exceeded their expectations. Look up some of the bench test and you will be very impressed. I love this piece... and since it was built recently and its not old stuff, it should last much much longer. This is also the reason why its so heavy. They spared no expense on the build and the components.... a lot of new stuff sounds ok but you open it up and its all air inside, and a ic board, heaviness means more expensive to ship around to store in warehouse to transport, so a lot of designers avoid it... and that often means inferior components or ones that do not last as long.... this unit you can give to your son to enjoy and it will work like new.

    I also have this amp. I totally agree with you, the only downside is the input selector. You have to sequentially access the inputs and the input indicator is a small led display on the front of the amp that is not so easy to see from across the room. But other than that, a truly impressive piece of equipment. An excellent example of hi quality Japanese solid state amplification. You can tell Denon wanted to make something special. I wish they would have kept the light ring around the volume knob like on the PMS SX1 though. That looks so cool. Thanks for your video. I have an earlier model of this Denon integrated amp, the latest version is doing what its earlier models have always done (for the past 20 years), ie let you enjoy the music without drawing attention to the equipment. The latest version seems to make further improvement, but for a far steeper price. The biggest drawback, to me, is the lack of XLR input.

    Bro...your different experience in sound quality between daytime and late night is due to dirty power. During day, a lot of noise gets inject into the power line...like your tv, hair dryer, aircon etc. hifi sounds best late night because all the noisy appliances are no longer in use. Furthermore, there is less demand on the grid as well. You might need to consider a power conditioner to clean up the power for noise.

The conditioner was aimed at server equipment / IT market...remembering that computer equipment is just as sensitive. No hifi price premium with these conditioners and I have had some luck with them. Even an isolation transformer will help. No more than $200 bucks AUD.

    People aren’t talking about it because of the snobbery around hifi. It either has usually to be British or American but Japanese companies are working hard behind the scenes to produce absolutely world class equipment and reasonable price levels that only bespoke cottage industry brands could ever dream of. I have the DCD-A110 and it's absolutely first class, I’ve already stocked up on laser mechs and even vfd's just incase. I wouldn’t go back to British kit nowadays after owning top need models from the likes of Yamaha and Denon.

    • @052RC
      @052RC 2 месяца назад

      Only you can say if its an upgrade. Everyone has different taste in equipment. We can both listen to the same thing and you may like it and I may not. That's just the way it goes. That said, if I had to guess, I think most people would consider it an upgrade. My advice is different than what you would normally hear. I'm not familiar with your current amp and preamp, but if the amp has enough power for the speakers and it sounds good, I would get a new preamp first. Its the more important of the 2 to get right, and it typically has a bigger effect on sound quality. You have to be careful with your speakers. They're great, but they have enough detail to show weakness or mismatches in other equipment. That's why I say preamp first. Also, take your time. If you have good sound now, its easy to make a mistake. Continue to enjoy your system, and only make changes when you're sure its the right thing to do.

      Be careful when you listen to people like that. Most people that start youtube channels to review products, are doing it to make money. The fastest way to build a youtube channel is to tell people what your want to hear. It makes them a hero and you subscribe and support them. To be fair, I can't say the channel you mention does this, but I do see a red flag. "Same power rating." This tells me he's probably relying on specs as a big part of a recommendation. The problem with that is, there is no standard that manufacturers have to go by when rating how much power their amps make, so each one does it however they see fit. If you take 10 amps all rated for the exact same amount of power, and measure them all the same way, all 10 will be different. How much different? It depends on how honest the company is. The differences can be huge. So, just to be clear, I'm not telling you where to get your information from. That's your own business and no one else's. But if you're not aware of what I just told you, you may find some of the information useful. Also, some youtube channels operate this way. They tell people exactly what they want to hear to grow they're channel.

      Don't kid yourselves until you've actually performed a true level-matched 100% blind listening test. Otherwise, you simply have no clue and absolutely no basis to make any type of definitive judgement. Period.
      In a level-matched 100% blind test last November (my buddy's wife did all of the random amp switching hidden behind a simple folding Japanese screen/divider so that none of us had any clue which was which), the ~$1300 USD stereo Hypex Nilai500 Class D amplifier from DIYclassD won out overall, and I ended up replacing my $7k Pass Labs and McIntosh amps along with a custom-modified (Class A) N0rh amp that I thought I would never part with, LOL. One of the guys bought the Nilai500 Class D amp as well. The speakers were one of the other guys Boressen model 03 floorstanders (simply out of this world and they clearly revealed all differences between every amp!) and his Aavik amp was just SLIGHTLY better, but 20x the cost of the Nilai500!
