Cheers from Bulgaria, buddy. I absolutely love your channel - most of the rest of survival/bushcraft channels that I am subscribed to are pretty helpful when I am exploring an idea or a concept, however, yours does have a soul. Learning so much from someone 12 years younger than me is truly refreshing, take a bow.And hey - my wife gave a birth to my baby son today, how about a nice bunch of likes for the event :-P
To Sirstevanco Congratulations on the birth of your son, I had a blast teaching my son on bushcraft and now he's a man and teaching his, Enjoy the time :)
There are a lot of factors in prepping. One plan I found which successfully combines these is the Marla survive system (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the no.1 survival website that I've seen. Check out the incredible free video.
People tend to take things for granted, but as you say your pack is adapted to your surroundings. So other people should be inspired to look at their surroundings and see what they need or don't need. Thanks for sharing.
Love these types of instructional vids. Reminds me of how your old vids were. I'm not too into the special project vids like your trailer or pontoon boat. Keep it old school 👍🏾.
Nice update, Kenny. Thanks! It's interesting to see how much you've kept the same over the past 7 years despite new products and technology. Very simple and very cool. We're looking forward to seeing your future adventures!
Great video Kenny. I've enjoyed watching the variety of content lately but have to admit your survival / bushcraft videos are why i subscribed to your channel and enjoy them the most. Good job and good luck with the new school year!
Nice kit, no fluff, good basics tho. I do the same, washing my kit with sand and then burn them clean over fire before the next meal goes in. Stay safe out there, greetings from Vienna, Austria, Europe.
A few years back i was on RUclips looking for an idea for a cheap pack so I could get into backpacking. I saw your video on the alice pack and what all you carried. I went and bought myself a medium alice pack with frame for $40 and have been happy with it ever since. Keep up the good work man.
I really like your policy on clothes, "if it won't fit it stays" I need to implement that hahaha. Excited for your new videos man and good luck with college!
BRAVO, congrats on your anniversary. I'm new, the headline caught my attention, smart!. If you would please next time layout your equipment, that way I'll take a picture and can go from there as to what I want in my kit and very thankful for your experience, keep up the great work /videos. DFW area.
I saw your first one than the middle one , and now this one ! Hats off to you ! You left off Bigfoot ? We have bears here in Va , and I've seen big cats , too. Had something big come in to our camp one night , ever since that night of no sleep. I always carry a pistol and a rifle , or shotgun . Never felt so small as I did that night . I almost quit the woods forever over it . But can't be letting monsters win the day now can we . 6 machine guns later , I fear not. And my Bowie and hawk , and machine pistol. Greetings from Bedford Va.
Nice Video Kenny. You've evolved as a person, backpacker, prepper etc. The items in your pack have changed as well. You ditched a lot of the really heavy items and just carry what you need. It happens to everyone of us who hike and backpack. It only takes a few backpacking trips to learn to get light and be nimble, doesn't it? I really like my MSR cook kit too. I'll never get rid of mine either. Lately I've been using a fancy feast catfood stove with alcohol to cook with if I don't feel like making a fire. You should try it or the Esbit thing people are so fond of. Both systems work well and weigh so little. Keep up the great work and hike on brother!
Great vid, been watching you for years. You' ve motivated me to do an update of my gear as well, lol. My philosophy is not to take any item that could 'run out' and not be replaceable, such as your fire starting discs. My 'always carry' items are in a weight distribution vest and my 'luxury items' or 'sniffle gear' is in my pack.
A medium ALICE can be folded compressed into an assault pack by tying the internal strings and folding up the bottom of it. On the medium ALICE you can attach a sustainment pouch on either side to add volume. Don't like the color of the pouches or pack spray paint it. I switched out the ALICE frame for a steel folding stool. The stool being longer allows me to attach a MOLLE 2 hip belt. Good vid.
Great video. I’ve just watched your medium ALICE pack load out from 2011. The changes between the two show me there is truth in the old saying, “the more you know the less you bring.” The other thing I noticed, your medium ALICE pack has worn well over the years. I recently bought a large ALICE pack in like new condition (I know bigger isn’t always better but bigger is always bigger and that makes for some flexibility plus the price was good) and hope it holds up as well as your medium ALICE seems to have held up. I remembered they were pretty rugged when I was active duty. I’ve already modified my pack some (DIY sternum strap, DIY kidney pad/waist belt with MOLLE straps, Fastex buckles, extra lateral compression strap and a paracord grab handle). but all that can come off easily and leave it true to history. The reason I chose the LC3 over the LC2 (I had a choice to make) was because of capacity as I stated before if I want to fill it up (load it heavy with food) for a two week or two month hike I’m good to go. Thanks for putting out the videos you’re encouragement for folks like me.
Kenny how much did you spend on your alice bag contents? Also what brand of Alice bag is very sturdy and weather resistant? What can you use to boil water that will last. You mentioned in a previous video that you use a carbon metal knife to start fires with some sort of flint. What’s the proper name of the knife and the flint thing?
Hey i know you watch wranglerstar from the few times you have mentioned him....ive been watching cody since he had double digit sub's and i have found a guy that is putting out just the best content ive watched in many many months. his channel is buckin' billy ray and he does alot of chainsaw stuff and axe stuff which are my 2 favorite hobbies and i amagine they are high on your list as well. I just wanted to tell you about him. Great video and looking forward to more
Great video and verbiage; thanks. Could you please give more information on the wax-coated discs? Are they DIY or can you purchase? What sort of tinder do you like to use with your ferrocerium rod?
Have you ever had to use bear spray? I have a healthy respect/fear of black bears after one came into my campsite late one night. We didn't have bear spray or any firearms so we threw a Christmas tree in the fire, threw rocks, banged pots, made a lot of noise. There was a bunch of us so he left with nothing. I didn't sleep that night though. Drank beer until dawn sitting by the boat. I was the captain.
Kenny, I have been watching you I guess from about the time you started 6 years ago. I was just wondering how old you are now ? I am thinking you are in College now, but time along with memory gets away from us old people :-( I came here from your recent interview with Dave Canterbury at the Path Finder school, trying to figure out how old you were now. Does your dad share your love of the woods ?
Woffle woffle woffle... 5:46 mins before we get into it... I can see why ya haven't done many more vids recently..! Ever heard of the saying... 'Cut to the chase'..! I'm not saying, I'm just saying..? :PEACE: ❤️🕊

Always Great Videos HERE!!
Nalgene bought the Guyot bottle design. They still make them under the Nalgene name.
Kenny, you used to bring a saw as well, you even had a blade-within-a-tube thing, what happened to that?
Love the dip can fire starter tin
Lol. Him and I get empty cans from friends who dip to use for storage. I use them for fishing weights
Great system mate,
good vid. no pocket saw or hatchet ?
Start @ 14.55
Great video
I really wish you still made videos

I use to put out videos on YT for real estate for sale in 2006 & 2007 and people thought I was nuts... haha, my how times change! 😆🙄
Was it "USK" Knife? With all the Ultra Light 'Titanium' pots, pans & utensils why do you carry 'heavy' stainless steel 'anything?'
It looks new about the backpack
hey man about how much does your whole kit weigh?
every thing i see hear is new
what do you use for boiling water?
What is you current fire starting kit? Just a ferro rod?
That plus a lighter & waxed cotton discs. He has a couple vids on how he makes the discs.
I know you seldom answer comments but I'll ask, where's a good place to buy a good Alice pack?
www.lapolicegear.com is a great place for packs
keepshooting.com,Vermont Barre Army Navy Store,ebay
The only thing you need now is a good dog...
“I won’t name everything in my first aid kit”...(proceeds to name every item in kit)
