Guys, I gotta say: putting insulating tinfoil in between your pizza (wings, whatever you're coooking) and your rack or tray will cause your food not to reach proper coming temperature, and certainly cause the oven's estimate of when the food will be properly cooked to be WAY off. Try the oven again without the tinfoil.
I'm so confused why one of his biggest complaints is that you need an oven mitt to pull the toast out of the oven. It's an OVEN. Name one oven that you pull things out of without using an oven mitt. It is not a toaster. It's an oven that can toast your food.
There are other toaster ovens with more space where you can just reach and grab the toast. This isn't one of them, so it's one more step involved vs others. - J
As to the carrots and broccoli - carrots always take longer to cook than broccoli. Put the carrots in first and cook em, then add broccoli towards the end.
@TheAverageKitchen, You should have partially steamed the carrots and broccoli first, sprayed them with oil, and used the air fryer to crisp the outside of the veggies.
All "Bagel" settings are set to toast only one side...if you want to toast both sides use regular toast settings. This is true of all toasters with a Bagel setting.
Power off the oven to reset the toast setting. The oven assumes you want a little more doneness on your bagel or toast. They should have a reset button to override it. Also, I recommend pulling out the crumb tray and covering it with foil (wrap it). As with every new product, there are always pros and cons. One note, you’re supposed to cut pillsbury cookies into quarters (or triangles)…🤣 One more thing…set your probe 5-8 degrees lower than your target temperature to allow for carryover cooking. That’s probably your temperature discrepancy. As far as the “design flaw” door handle is concerned…if you’re placing it on a deep set countertop, just place it atop a cutting board to raise it a little.
@@TheAverageKitchen I guess that depends on who you ask. After watching a few other reviews, it appears the crumb tray belongs on the top. The bottom oven is primarily used with a pan and with an empty pan to catch drippings from the air fryer basket. As far as the toast function goes, I see it from two angles…it will accommodate quite a few slices of bread, making it a one shot deal for everyone and I’m guessing resetting the toaster for the next round would eventually become second nature. Personally, I see more pros than cons (outside of the ridiculous price point).
I have this new model. I also have the original SmartXL Pro AirFry oven. While I certainly miss the open inner space of the SmartXL, I must say having the double oven has come in quite handy. I agree the Top oven is rather short in height. Had Ninja made this device 1.5 to 2.0 inches taller and incorporated that in the Top and Bottom ovens… I digress. Fact is, this device AirFries perfectly; the Convection Bake function (Bottom) is great as well. I prefer the Conv Bake (Bottom) over the Bake (Top). There is a noticeable difference time wise imo. The Bottom is very easy to clean. Everything I have tried has turned out well. Having the option to cook using two completely different functions is very useful. I feel Ninja should have made both doors independently open; however, since there is no auto-pause when the full door opens, there is really no substantial heat loss from the Top oven while checking on the Bottom. I just ran two 1:2 (1 slice; Shade 2) back to back. The first slice turned out just the way I like. The second slice turned out darker than the first in a shorter amount of time as oven was already hot. I do suggest purchasing an extra crumb tray and just place both in the oven (Top and Bottom). There’s also a 12x12x2 nonstick baking pan accessory that is quite nice; quite roomy.
Thank you I just purchased one and haven’t taken it out of the box yet. I love all my ninja products and I couldn’t imagine this one being as bad as he is saying.
This certainly helped. I struggle in my kitchen not having two ovens. I have the standard sized gas oven but it takes 4x as long to preheat so the idea of having a smaller double oven is attractive so the insight was helpful.
There are so many poor reviews around, where it's obvious that the reviewer just took the item out of the box, hasn't ever cooked anything with it, and is just regurgitating the promotional BS from the manufacturer. I like that you actually cook with it. Thanks.
Excellent demonstration, presentation as always ! This Ninja oven looks very attractive but it's massive for Kitchen work top specially with Ninja Max Dual AF. I like your delicious recipes. Thank you Marc and Jamie !! Cheers !
I purchased mine here in the states, it was $329. Mine works well and I have no problem at all with toast and I make toast a lot. As for the probe, I never use any probe other than my Meater wireless probe which is always perfect so I don't even use the Ninja probe. As far as the door, I don't see the problem. The door when open, clears my counter just like my old one did so that's not an issue. True, I wouldn't pay $500 for this, but I don't think I would ever pay $500 on any toaster oven. I like the fact that when I'm making my toast I only have to use the top and it uses much less power that way and doesn't dirty the rest. Also, it makes toast really well and quick, so I don't know what happened in this demo.
I think the crumb tray goes in the upper oven. And, put one of the included sheet pans in the lower oven under the air fryer basket to catch the drippings.
I'm with you guy's, I don't like that single door thing either and way to expensive. I love all the other Ninja products that I have though. I really enjoy watching your honest product evaluations. Keep up the good work and videos. From Preskitt, AZ.
when I bought the hot air fryer which I felt was way better than other over priced ones. I liked that it let you adjust time and temp. But the instructions for cook times and such were subjective. It was a learning curve for temp and time. But eventually found the sweet spot. I like the reheat option my Ninja air fryer has, especially for pizza slices.
I see you are using the Canadian Tire, Canvas - most versatile bowl in the world, I have 12, and use them to cook, bake, prep, microwave, freeze -- anything ! and to "serve" food ‐- it looks cool also.
Saw this on sale at Target at out the door price of $218.51 I have a huge Gourmia air fryer, old, dumb, and small toaster oven and then I also live in home with no A/C (Southern California) so turning on oven during summer is a pain. I was really hoping this would replace 3 small appliances for me. The toast test -- geez I can’t believe how bad it failed. Excellent testing here. Very appreciative of your notes! Going to pass for now. Unless @ninja is watching these comments and in that case, send me one to test 😂
I think my favorite part was the wings, that made a mess.. in a basket, with holes in it. And nothing was added to the basket to prevent that or the bottom to catch anything. I use those grilling mats to catch or line a rack/basket.
Actually yes, one of the reasons I want this is to dehydrate. 😅 thanks for the video! After reading the comments I am quite convinced I will buy one on sale.
If you read the instructions it clearly states the bagel goes bottom side down. Also you have the crumb tray on the bottom oven, which should be on the top when using the top oven.
Better results on the grilled cheese sandwich; in a Small Paderno non-stick pan (8"/20cm) one flip (paper towel clean up: 30 seconds). Perfect results in about 2 minutes.
Thank you for the review. I own a Ninja® Foodi™ Smart XL Pro 7-in-1 Indoor Grill & Griddle with the Smart Cook System, but I had considered the dual Ninja product, thinking it would be more convenient to cook an entire dinner at once. After your review, it's clear it's not the right choice for me.
I just got this (our first air fryer or little convection oven) so I read the instructions. The crumb tray is supposed to be in the top oven when both are in use I believe. Not sure if it would have changed things but it is a barrier between the two.
I understand that I'm kinda weird, but I don't like toasted bagels. I put'em in the microwave oven for 30 seconds and slather butter on'em when they come out. I do like chewy bagels much better than toasted bagels. I know that I would probably be shot if I told a New York restaurant that, but I'm never going back to NYC anyway.
If you press the stop start button, it pauses the cooking if the timer isn't run out, then you can start where you left off after put it back in the oven.
Thanks for your honest review. We feel the same about this product. Many negatives. 1. Too overpriced! 2. Bottom door should have independent handle for opening. 3. Slanted door because the handle is too thick! 4. Only one crumb tray is dumb, Should come with 2 crumb trays.
@@TheAverageKitchen If they come up with a Ninja Smart Double Oven v2.0 and fix all these issues (especially lowering the price point), we might reconsider it. As of now, this product is NOT recommended.
Bought the regular Ninja air fryer a week ago and am very pleased with it, easy to use, easy to clean but I have the same complaint as you regarding the instructions. There are no instructions for the roast function. I tried roasting mini potatoes, but they came out better using the air fry. I really don't the know what the roast fuction will do, nervous to try roasting an actual meat dish that's meant to be roasted. Will try asking the company about it, lol.
This is looking to be like having a new computer, like you gotta experiment. ALLOT to get things right. You guys show that you guys are new to this and if I ever bought this I might be having a bad time if not hundreds of dollars in questionable food. Thanks for doing the cook. It makes sense to me if anyone gets this you have to vision what you're going to cook and practice.
They suggest you use the crumb tray in the top and they suggest you use the sheet pan under any thing greasy. You can purchase an additional crumb tray for the bottom if your going to use either ovens a lot.
Your having issues cause you did not prime your oven FIRST. Instructions said BEFORE first usage run both ovens at 450 degrees for 25 minutes to prime the oven and burn off non-toxic manufacturing coatings. Plus priming the oven first regulates the cooking mechanism before you get started. I did the prime and did not have inconsistent toasting issues. Clearly your toasting is off as a result. 😂
So,.I am thinking of getting one. So, you're saying you have no problems with toast? And how many pieces fit at once? 4 slices? 6 slices? How is it as an air fryer? How big is the fryer basket?
Our Place has a new air fryer/toaster oven called the Wonder Oven! Would love to see you guys do a review of that please and thank you! You guys are the bomb diggity!
I almost got this on prime day, but I feel like the toast area is so small. I'd probably use the toasting feature more than the actual air frying part. I ended up ordering the DT251because it will be more practical.
I'll tell ya one thing, this beast machine makes the best cookies. Like industrial style. Someone asked me where I got my sugar cookies, and had to explain to them I made them. Our Ovens usually brown the bottom. Pizza, I just place on wire rack on the bottom. Been tough to get the bottom just right depending on thickness of pizza.
Sorry to nit pick, but why did you interrupt the cooking to flip the bagel when there are heating elements top and bottom on the top section of the oven?
I love ninja products, l have a handful of them; and you're right the totaster oven airfryer... it is overpriced. I bought a zojirushi toaster oven for lower price with great results 🙂. Thank you for the info 😊
Easier to get a decent 4 slice toaster, they're pretty reasonably priced here in UK. Get an Air Fryer, Ninja or other brand for the other foods. I have a Ninja air fryer which I love
Im a huge Ninja brand fan and was considering buying this. However, you made excellent points on what you dont like. I feel the same about each of them. This oven needs to be revised to fix the "awkward issues". Im going to pass on this for now. Thanks doing what you do.
Love this comment. This is EXACTLY why we do these reviews !! We are a couple average dudes, who open up a box and test these products out. I’ll be totally honest, this product is still in the box since we shot the video many many months ago. Good call on passing on it. Marc
Like any product you must ask yourself how will I use this….. I have had this oven for a couple months….I live in an inlawsuite with no standard oven and minimum counter space….so I need multiple functions….I am only cooking for myself I don’t need to toast 6 slices of toast….i toast 2 and they are perfect…as far as opening the door handle and it hitting the counter….it would be impossible for me to use the oven setup the way you did and seeing your setup with your toaster oven in the corner ….I would need to pull it out every time….I haven’t found I need a 2nd crumb tray….I use what was provided….I love the memory feature where I turn it on and 1 button I get my bagel cooking…..cooking for 1 person I give this a 9/10
Some guy well Freakin Reviews did the cuisnart toaster review and I figured out the only way to get good toast out of it was toast from the refrigerator so I guess that's what he was using
Can you do a review on the Ninja Creami ice cream maker, please and thanks. 🤞 I'm waiting for their Deluxe model which isn't available in Canada yet (it can do a version of a Tim's IceCap) but the 7-1 is.
You need to follow the instructions for how to cook bagels in this unit. (Put cut side up and leave it up, and for 2 halves, you need to select "2", not "1".)
No prob. But the bagel setting has a range. So choosing level 1 is not a reflection of “not following instructions “. Thanks for watching and the comment. Marc
Please tell why you love it? I am interested in getting one but this review is ..... horrible! (Edited to say ... horrible is not the reviewer, horrible is the apparent results. How does it toast?
I haven’t had a problem with toasting anything. I make grilled cheese sandwiches in this all the time. I have had to learn a little and adjust times but not by much. I also use it to make homemade pizza, and brownies.
This is 100% the best review of this product. I’ve watched a bunch of reviews and no one else was as thorough. You made a TON of food (who eats all that food, do you throw it away?). You spent a bunch of money on food, as well as the toaster, not to mention your time and video production…….just so my dumb arse can watch this video to determine I shouldn’t buy an inconsistent toaster. You sir are a saint.
Sucks you payed so much it's on the tsc shopping network tonight for 330 and on 12 easy pays thanks for the great review now I look forward to watch there demo tonight and decide
I am a little surprised at you. If you put this unit on a 24 inch counter, the handle reaches beyond the counter and the door becomes level. Also you did not adjust the temp for most of your cooking causing things to undercook, burn or overcook.
The counter thing is true, although some people may put it on an island as we did, no? And the cooking is subjective, and a learning curve with any new product. Thanks for the comment! - J
Did a few things wrong, for example crumb tray stays on top can be used on bottom but no. When air fry you put other black tray under air fry basket on top of wire tray. Equals no dripping
@@TheAverageKitchen yep you can buy another crumb tray and a roasting tray if you’d like to do that sort of thing frequently right on their website for accessories
Agreed, however considering how thin and cheap the crumb tray appears to be, it should be included. Ninja pushes the fact that you can use both ovens at once, but don't include all accessories to be able to necessarily do that. - J
HOW MANY ppl will have this oven so deep on the counter (like in the video) that the handle touches the counter!? Every toaster oven I’ve ever had opens all the way bc it hangs off the counter…. Not an issue at all for most folks.
If you don't want char on your vegetables you should create an aluminum foil envelope. Then peel back the top layer of aluminum foil when it's closer to being done
Is it canadians who say "bah-gl"? Cuz here in the US - I have NEVER heard someone say it that way. (ive lived across the US too.. deep south, north east, mid west, texas, california, alaska)
This was so enjoyable, made me laugh out loud. Kudos to you both for keeping your cool, I would’ve lost it! 😂 WHY is toasting bread such a frigging challenge for these companies?? I mean it’s 2023 for gawd sakes! We have self-driving cars, but we can’t toast bread properly 😝.
Hello guys! Even though it is more expensive, I think that model is a step down from Ninja's well regarded DT251/250 Foodi 10-in-1 Smart XL Air Fry Oven.
@@TheAverageKitchen That model has been in the market for about 2 to 3 years and the reviews are excellent. Costco online had its own version (model DT255CO) on sale recently for $199.99 (the one with the probe), but now it is back to $249.99. Amazon had the DT251 yesterday for $229.99 but today it is back to $329.99. I understand thats Ninja's most regarded oven.

You're right. Give us 2!! - J
Thank you for the honest review, and there should be a 2nd crumb tray.
Thanks so much! - J
I paid 289.00 on sale at target in Florida. It makes toast fine. Bagels turn out perfect.
Good deal! Glad it works for you. Thanks for watching! - J
The default bagel setting is perfect for me. That's exactly how I like my bagel. lol 😋
Fair enough! Thanks for watching! - J
Thanks! - J
Thanks for your honest review. We feel the same about this product. Many negatives.
1. Too overpriced!
2. Bottom door should have independent handle for opening.
3. Slanted door because the handle is too thick!
4. Only one crumb tray is dumb, Should come with 2 crumb trays.
I agree 1000% ! Thanks for watching and the comment. Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen If they come up with a Ninja Smart Double Oven v2.0 and fix all these issues (especially lowering the price point), we might reconsider it. As of now, this product is NOT recommended.
I totally agree that the Ninja is too expensive for what you need to cook with. I’ll keep my oven, cooktop and small toaster. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching! - J
Haha. Let us know what you find out! - J
I am looking for something at least this size, what would you suggest?
Check this out ➡️ruclips.net/video/KJAFTTFrCl8/видео.html - J
This is looking to be like having a new computer, like you gotta experiment. ALLOT to get things right. You guys show that you guys are new to this and if I ever bought this I might be having a bad time if not hundreds of dollars in questionable food.
Thanks for doing the cook. It makes sense to me if anyone gets this you have to vision what you're going to cook and practice.
Thanks for the comment! - J
I love your channel! Very informative! I don't think I will be purchasing one of these :)
Thanks so much for the awesome comment ! Marc
They suggest you use the crumb tray in the top and they suggest you use the sheet pan under any thing greasy. You can purchase an additional crumb tray for the bottom if your going to use either ovens a lot.
It should come with that extra crumb tray though... - J
I agree, I had to order one.
Thank you for all your videos.
Thanks for watching! - J
I don't think that would account for the major differences we were seeing, but thanks for the feedback. - J
So,.I am thinking of getting one. So, you're saying you have no problems with toast? And how many pieces fit at once? 4 slices? 6 slices?
How is it as an air fryer? How big is the fryer basket?
Just bought today April 2024 cost $ 269, the top oh man it’s as hot as the inside, but love how it looks and works,
Awesome. Marc
Does it have a manual time setting for toast? 😢
I believe so yes. Marc
Acabo de comprarlo . Alguien que me diga donde puedo encontrar un video en español con las instrucciones de cómo usarlo por favor

I work in a kitchen. Frozen shoestring fries should be at 400F (20minutes with a pre heated oven).
Thanks for the tip! - J
did your ninja make a lot of noise when the fan comes on to cool?
It's about as loud as an air fryer on that mode. Thanks for watching! - J
Our Place has a new air fryer/toaster oven called the Wonder Oven! Would love to see you guys do a review of that please and thank you! You guys are the bomb diggity!
Interesting!! I’ll have to google / research. Thanks for watching and the comment ! Marc
I almost got this on prime day, but I feel like the toast area is so small. I'd probably use the toasting feature more than the actual air frying part. I ended up ordering the DT251because it will be more practical.
Let us know how you like it! - J
On the pizza if you read the package it says to put it on the rack. Not a pan unless you want soft crust.
👍🏼👍🏼
Did you noticed a loud fan noise when it’s cooling down? Don’t know if it’s normal
I can’t say we noticed that to be honest. Thanks for watching. Marc
Awesome. Appreciate the comment and you watching. Marc
Do you remember what the temperature was on the grilled cheese that you baked? It looked really good.
350 I believe ….
Can you Air Fry with the 2 ovens at the same time.. example : Top Oven Wings , bottom French Fries?
I believe you can yes. Marc
I thought the top isn't an air fryer? Am I wrong?
Sorry to nit pick, but why did you interrupt the cooking to flip the bagel when there are heating elements top and bottom on the top section of the oven?
Force of habit maybe. Not sure lol
Man, you are really into toast :D . I don't think I have ever actually used a toaster oven to make toast.
Haha. Lots of people do! Thanks for watching. - J
Would you suggest this over the combi? I'm in the market(gift for the Mrs) and looking to replace our smaller 4qt air fryer.
Definitely not. Combi all the way. Thanks for watching! - J
@TheAverageKitchen great and I'm so thankful for the fast response... just on that you've got a new sub. I'm ordering the combi now.
Awesome. Let us know how you like it !! Cheers. Marc
@@TheAverageKitchenwhy?,if you don't mind me asking. I am almost ready to buy this one
I love ninja products, l have a handful of them; and you're right the totaster oven airfryer... it is overpriced. I bought a zojirushi toaster oven for lower price with great results 🙂. Thank you for the info 😊
Awesome! Thanks for watching! - J
Why didnt you use the air basket that came with the unit for the veggies. You probably would have gotten different results
👍🏼👍🏼
Lol i love how you reply to negative comments. Thanks for the video guys.
Kill em with kindness !!! We reply to all comments, even the terrible ones 😂. Thanks for watching and the comment !! Marc
You’re supposed to put the wire rack and tray at the bottom when using the Air Fryer function. The crumb tray is exclusively built for the top oven.
If I remember correctly, the instructions say it's interchangeable. But thanks for the comment! - J
Easier to get a decent 4 slice toaster, they're pretty reasonably priced here in UK. Get an Air Fryer, Ninja or other brand for the other foods. I have a Ninja air fryer which I love
Totally agree. Thanks for watching! - J
Marc

Hi Marc, can you possibly do a review on the BlendJet?
I’ll do some research and see what I can do ! Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen
Thank you soooooooo much 😘
Like any product you must ask yourself how will I use this….. I have had this oven for a couple months….I live in an inlawsuite with no standard oven and minimum counter space….so I need multiple functions….I am only cooking for myself I don’t need to toast 6 slices of toast….i toast 2 and they are perfect…as far as opening the door handle and it hitting the counter….it would be impossible for me to use the oven setup the way you did and seeing your setup with your toaster oven in the corner ….I would need to pull it out every time….I haven’t found I need a 2nd crumb tray….I use what was provided….I love the memory feature where I turn it on and 1 button I get my bagel cooking…..cooking for 1 person I give this a 9/10
I just bought one for $300 on Amazon. The price has come down. Thanks for the review

Some guy well Freakin Reviews did the cuisnart toaster review and I figured out the only way to get good toast out of it was toast from the refrigerator so I guess that's what he was using
Yeah could be, not sure. Love that guy though. Shout out to James! - J
Can you do a review on the Ninja Creami ice cream maker, please and thanks. 🤞
I'm waiting for their Deluxe model which isn't available in Canada yet (it can do a version of a Tim's IceCap) but the 7-1 is.
Yes we will !!

Where you get that cutting board?
We got it specially made for us. Pretty slick right? - J
Yeah. Where at?

And my COSORI air fryer ! Thanks guys
Thanks for watching and the comment !! Marc
You need to follow the instructions for how to cook bagels in this unit. (Put cut side up and leave it up, and for 2 halves, you need to select "2", not "1".)
Pretty sure I can select whatever setting I desire. Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen I mentioned this because you're reviewing the product without following the instructions. No insult intended. Just a suggestion.
No prob. But the bagel setting has a range. So choosing level 1 is not a reflection of “not following instructions “. Thanks for watching and the comment. Marc
They have it at Canadian Tire, at a price, comparable to the US Price. I chose the Foodi Pro XL 10 in one instead, because I don't like this new door.
Nice !! Marc
I bought mine for $199 and I love it!
Awesome! Thanks for watching! - J
I just got one for prime day and I am not to happy with it. Toast comes out horrible. Thank you for the review
Thanks for watching! - J
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment! We typically eat the food either that day or as leftovers. Glad we could help! - J
It’s not that high in the states though. I just bought mine from the company for $249.00 and it’s the one with the probe.
Nice! - J
According to instructions, if you are using both top and bottom, you should add 2 min to each oven.
Good tip! - J
What is your wing recipe? They look delicious.
Thanks for the comment! They were just store-bought boxed wings, nothing too special! - J
Great review. I just ordered this from Costco on sale for $219. Seems they have adjusted the price to better reflect the value.

Put the pizza directly on the wire rack and put the sheet pan under the wings. 🤪
Either way I would anticipate clean up. Thanks for watching. Marc
It's $200 on Amazon at the moment..
Nice ! Great price.
@@TheAverageKitchen indeed. I am in the market for one and it's on my list. What would you say is the best air fryer out right now? Thanks!
Come back to the channel in an hour, and we'll answer that question! - J
@@TheAverageKitchenawesome! Thanks. Subscribed!
We appreciate it! - J
Did a few things wrong, for example crumb tray stays on top can be used on bottom but no. When air fry you put other black tray under air fry basket on top of wire tray. Equals no dripping
Should have 2 crumb trays. - J
Fair enough! - J
The price has dropped, on November 11, 2023, Best Buy is selling this Ninja - 12-in-1 Smart Double Oven for $279.99.
Fantastic price ! Marc
If you want crispness on the bottom of the pizza, put it directly on the rack.
Great tip thanks. Marc
Crispy bottom on the pizza you don't use a pan underneath it
Yup that's true, although then you're in for a mess with this thing. Thanks for watching! - J
I feel like removing or inserting a tray of hot food at an angle is so dangerous for liquid fat drippings to spill over into the unit.
I agree. Thanks for watching. Marc
You flipped the bagel... don't flip it. the setting is so that you don't have to flip it.
Fair enough! Thanks for watching! - J
Mine toasts toast better than any toaster I've ever had! Overpriced for sure but I do like mine so far
Glad you enjoy! - J
If you follow their instructions for cooking wings, you put the sheet pan, lined with foil, underneath the air fryer basket.

If you don't want char on your vegetables you should create an aluminum foil envelope. Then peel back the top layer of aluminum foil when it's closer to being done
Great tip ! Thanks for watching. Marc
You had 😮put the first 2 bagles in Twice why it burnt.
Is that a question?
That wasn’t a question. The person said the reason why the bagels burnt is because you put them in twice
How many bagels could you toast at 1 time?
I’m guessing 10. Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen Wow! So, 5, right? 10.halves?

This was so enjoyable, made me laugh out loud. Kudos to you both for keeping your cool, I would’ve lost it! 😂 WHY is toasting bread such a frigging challenge for these companies?? I mean it’s 2023 for gawd sakes! We have self-driving cars, but we can’t toast bread properly 😝.
