Chef Pehn Pavelka goes through his experience cooking on the new Sportsman 820 pellet grill from Pit Boss. The Sportsman 820 aims to hit the sweet spot of value and performance in the increasingly crowded mid-range pellet grill market.
In this video, you'll learn what we like about the Sportsman 820 including the generous cooking area, porcelain-coated cast iron grill grates, and easy pellet clean up.
We'll also run through what isn't so good, including the small searing zone and temperature swings.

Thanks for the smoker demo video. Covered feature points. Nicely made.

Thanks for the review. I like the Sportsman look. Does it have a hopper pellet dump feature to easily change out pellet flavors?

Whats the difference between the sportsman series and pro series pits? why does the sportsman cost more than the pro series pits? They don't even have a pid or ash catcher..

Thank you for the review, helps makes my decision even easier. One question, can you use any type brand of pellets?

You sure can, lots of brands like to say "only use our brand" but there's no reason not to mix and match.

I just bought a sportsman, all these reviews keep saying I need to get a gasket, but I don’t know what that is or where to get one, can someone help?

You don't need to, but it can be a good way to seal the smoker up and prevent as much leakage. Something like this is a good option. www.amazon.com/Lavalock-Nomex-gasket-smoker-stick/dp/B00JO00S04

What are the temp adjust increments? I've seen some pit boss grills only adjust in 50 degree increments.

He showed it. It goes up to 25 degree increments until 250, then it goes up 50.

Can you use charcoal in this?

Not traditional charcoal. There is charcoal pellets you can buy. I've heard they are good mixed with normal wood pellets

This the worst Smoker Grill I've ever seen. I've replaced the hot rod 4 times, fan motor twice, ordered new flame guards (bottom & slider) and they don't fit. I hate the grill
