I also appreciate the fact that there's no distracting background music or noise ..... just good advice in a simple way so even a beginner like me can understand :) been watching from the 1st vid, great help thanks!
Fabulous. You just taught me what no other video could. Clear. Thorough. Step by step. I have a 1010 and this was perfect still. Thank you very much. I am so thrilled to begin this quilting journey. ❤
I was given a tip by an older gentleman with 50 years of sewing machine repair experience. If you put you index finger against the needle near the eye (gently) with the the tip of your finger pointing to the back of the machine, guide the thread against your finger and it will find the needle hole easier. Been doing it for years. Takes some practice.
Great videos. I bought my well loved 1030 about 6 years ago and have learned something new from each of your videos! I have so much trouble with twin needles, but your tip from this video may just solve my problem. Thanks for taking the time to make videos for this “older” model. Such a lovely machine to sew on!
@@InStitches I’d definitely put 1008 in since they have the vintage ones then brought them out again as their “new” low level domestic price range now too, but they’re threaded the same way 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the video. I have just brought this machine. Can you please advise which is the preferred brand of thread? I have been told that Berninas are fussy and that only certain brands keep its tensions as it should
I have a1080 can’t move the wheel so nothing is happening and what kind of a needle do you suggest. This is a second hand machine it also has a small zigzag when I want to sew straight please need advice
There's the lever on the front of the machine under the knob with the buttonhole symbol on it. You push the lever up to put the machine in reverse. Thanks.
Hi! I just bought a second hand Bernina 1030. It's in a great condition physically and aesthetically so I plugged it in and was testing it out. Started with the lights to see if they still worked, then wound a bobbin to test the tension. But before I could get onto testing stitches I suddenly started to hear a crackling then pop sound from the back and a pungent smoke started coming out the machine :( Upon research it seems the likely case is that the capacitor has blown (reading a lot of forums that this happens to older models with circuit boards) and therefore needs replacing. I just wanted to know if this would be an easy fix and whether it would happen again now replaced with a modern capacitor, or if it is just a circuit issue? I did tentatively plug the machine back in after taking off the back and sa idk casing to inspect the damage. I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary so mainly focused on cooling/blowing away debris with a hand fan. The machine did continue to work but the response from the pedal to the needle was lagging and the needle would stop 2 stitches after I had stopped giving the machine power. Would this be a motor and belt issue opposed to the capacitor being blown? Sorry for the long question, but I really enjoy your videos, they're so informative!

Thank you for the helpful video, I just bought one of the 1000 designers and it did not come with the manual so your videos are priceless to me!❤️🙏

Great to hear!
Thank you! I wish these machines came with words on them sometimes, especially since mine had no manual. It's quite different from my old machine!
Any chance of a video going over the accessories case and contents in some detail?

It's a relatively easy fix and the modern replacement capacitor should last a long time. Thanks.
@@InStitches Thank you! 🤞
