I totally agree Jim with your concept of usefulness of doing “edge of tomorrow” ventures, rather then not-doing, learning from failures and keep going. The same concept was greatly expanded in the movie “Edge of tomorrow”:
You know the goal must be achieved whatever it takes,
but from where you are now you don’t necessarily see how,
so you take the venture you can visualise right now,
learn from that a new edge and start again from there,
repeat the cycle, until you get to the goal.
Do not give up, this the key 🔑 element to it.

Sometimes I think we were better off as hunter gathers ! Does all our stuff make us better off ! Or happier! But then again I'm 70 my life is coming down to its end I've been productive raised a family I'm comfortable but when I look around at my world I have to wonder ! In the end I have my faith that's all I will be able to take with me ! Peace !

Would have been great to hear from Jesse but unfortunately the host doesn't give him any room to speak, it's 95 percent the host and his monologue and Jesse going "mmm yeah, ohh interesting" as he realises the conversation is one sided.

The host talked way too much. Jesse is so interesting and has so much to offer to a conversation, but in this interview he just sat there and agreed with the host.

Dear Jim and community, to represent the cosmology and un-computable cosmic consciousness scientific view (one of 4 mainstream current physics view), instead of sci-fi, you could look into Sr Roger Penrose (90 years old, 2020 Nobel Physics prize recipient), who has wrote the book on the topic. He discusses A.I. in the light of quantum physics and consciousness through the lens of the medical Neuroscience Doctor, Dr Peterson, in the interview called “ Asking a Theoretical Physicist About the Physics of Consciousness “ by Jordan B Peterson. Those a Intelectual giants.
