I thought the exact same thing!!! Her title may be 'The Queen' but she's definitely reach whole new heights uwu I got a Hurricane Venus vibe from this as well, the way she sang it is what reminded me of it! She has such a smooth and mature voice now hnn.

I've been a kpop fan since 2018, but I know talent when I see it. This woman is incredible, since she was a little girl she has been so hard-working. She worked hard since she was a trainee, and she never gave up, despite the pressure. She was the first trainee and the company practically depended on her. She learned Japanese by going to live with a family in Japan as a preteen, learned English, learned to sing and dance, and trained hard. She said that if you woke her up at night and played her a song that she practiced anywhere, she would be able to follow it. It is an example of effort and an inspiration, at least for me. I am Spaniard and my dream is to be an idol. I am practicing and learning Korean while striving to lose weight. I am already 18 years old and sometimes I think about giving up, but after discovering her story I have decided that no, that she will be my inspiration.

I do find the song quite simplistic though
All I mean is that pop music tends to come and go in waves. High Energy versus Low Energy. For a while there music was heavily influenced by EDM and now it’s becoming more simple in production -laid back if you will, with lots of “space” in the mixes. I enjoy that BoA has been releasing singles that are filled with energy and lots of background vocals and music. It’s a personal taste and I’m in no way saying simplistic pop is bad at all! Pop Music, by nature, is designed to be simple and hooky -it captures everyday language and that’s how we can relate to it. I, personally, love upbeat dance pop music and this was a good change to what’s popular right now. :)

I love her so much. She's been in the industry for so long and is still kicking so hard. She's that improbability: a solo female singer in a sea of bands that is feminine but has powerful choreography with male backdancers (there are women in this MV too, but from what I've noticed, her main crew is composed of guys) that are not used as romantic or sexual objects and with hella powerful songs that she nails when she performs live.
What's not to love about BoA?
On a sidenote I'm pretty sure I saw some of those white/caucasian/European/American girls in TVXQ's "Something" MV and now I just wonder: what's their job exactly? Pretty models?

And usually if the girl is cute and shy or a girlfriend, she's Asian/Korean whereas if she's sexy, bad or not a serious relationship (one night stand for example), then she's usually Caucasian. Of course, that is if we stay in the male singer and boyband spectrum, although girlbands tend to try to be sexy and cute at the same time, all the time.
@@Gamyeon I never thought about that! Although I don't know if that's intentional. Usually, the only company who uses caucasian models is YG and they're one of the few companies that shows those kinds of scenes, although in Winner's Baby Baby the booty call girl was Korean/east Asian
@@hopedean6424 I know I've seen plenty of them in SM artists' MVs. TVXQ used them in Something and in their Tokyo Dome Secret Code Tour intro (although they didn't in Spellbound, but then again the song is a love song if I'm not mistaken), SHINee has them in View and I think there's one in Super Junior's Devil.
I don't think it's necessarily conscious more that the industries don't want to depict a "bad" image of what a Korean girl should be by society standards. It might not be a widespread thing either, but I've seen too frequently recently to think it's just a coincidence.
