They came across an island where they wanted to stop, so they anchored up and took a boat to the island. This explained the missing boat. The ship broke anchor and sailed away, explaining the rope. Nothing was missing because they weren’t expecting to be gone long. Sorted, problem solved, sign me up, cheers

I think it's pretty obvious what happened... During rough seas, some of the cargo got loose and casks with alcohol broke, spilling into the hold. When faced with a potentially lethal combination of toxic gas and explosion danger, they abandoned ship in the lifeboat, like the scenario suggested, waiting for the alcohol fumes to dissipate. But then the rope tying the lifeboat to the ship snapped, and a rowboat with 10 people cannot hope to keep up with a wind-driven ship in full sail. Sadly, the 10 perished at sea.. either through exposure, or they drowned.
I am here because my father says to me "stop creeping around like the mary celeste" because I'm so silent when walking and I wander aimlessly.. plus have a smokers cough . I actually understand now 😆

Nice name diotma
The captain's symptoms sounds like TB, the og respiratory gangsta before covid was even mainstream. Lol.
My educated guess is, after a series of misshaps, they panicked and abandoned ship after seeing the water pump break and an approaching storm. Another possibility is the crew could've been outlaws. Last article I read about it is that there was no record of the ship in any harbor in the place it last set sail before the incident. They could've encountered a military vessel and abandoned the ship before being caught with illegal/unregistered cargo.

first confirmed case of corona virus was the captian of the mary celeste.
The captain had shortness of breath, fever and coughing, yes,
its true,
The captain had coronavirus
Nope Tuberculosis
He coughed up blood so he had tuberculosis which is what would’ve killed over that period of time where as the rona just kills you pretty much a lot quicker than tuberculosis
2:53 December 4th is my birthday and that’s when the ship was found? Great well now I’m going to be anxious the rest of the night...
Is it far fetched to think they stopped at an island and got ganked by natives? Pirates wouldn't leave alcohol
Please don't ever stop making videos. This channel really hells my insomnia. Thank you so much.
Who came here after watching the movie, "The Ghost Ship"?
Well....it has got some really disturbing scenes and has got a not-so-logical concept.

I had to do a project on this for school...if only I had seen it sooner😂😭
The captain of Mary Celeste and the captain of the boat that found Mary Celeste were old friends who had dinner with their familys when they found out they had similar courses. Mary Celeste set off 8 days before.
Ok listen I have only watched until 2:50 so far but here is my theory,
Captain Briggs or whatever his name is, his daughter was named Mary and the sickness from the original captain was lingering around the ship. When the new crew took over, some of them got the sickness or whatever it was INCLUDING briggs daughter. I think Briggs daughter ended up dying haunted the ship to make sure that the crew died with her. And now wherever the ship is now, the little girl will continue to haunt it.
Celeste I just google and the definition is that it’s a female given name meaning heavenly. So I think the little girl haunts it and that’s how it all happened.
(Because little girls seem to be creepy in horror movies)
Ok so sicknesses like that would probably die out before another crew could show up so idk if this theory is possible
i'm quite sure they put at least the mother & the children into the lifeboat, but since the other 8 are also missing, i assume they went in there too. sounds very legit that the rope snapped and that alc leaked.
The lifeboat theory is way better than any abandoned ship theory. Why would anybody leave a ship before it started sinking? Another theory that doesn't get any exposure is that a superstitious crew simply got spooked by the ships history, mutinied and bailed.
👌 Quality bruder respect 4 this 1 - *Dave, Liverpool, England* Excellent content my friend! 👍👊
0:03 thanks for giving us the heads up Infographics !
Now I *REEEALLY* want to watch this video.
Amazon, the first shipping service that almost sunk.
I think one balmy morning, the captain became concerned about the alcohol in the hold because a hatch cover had been blown. He wanted to air out the fumes safely. He loaded his crew, his wife, and his young daughter into a lifeboat, only intending to be off ship a couple of hours. But the rope was frayed, and crew and ship were seperated.
Maybe a random tsunami or rogue wave crashed the side, startling the crew, some got swept away on deck, the survivors launched the small boat tying it to main boat, maybe thinking the Mary Celeste may sink, then another wave or waves crash the boats tearing the rope attached to Marie Celeste, drifting the small boat out to the unknown and Marie Celeste drifts blankly until discovered

So obvious the fumes life boat was attached to boat so it could air and the rope broke. Back then unbelievable today most people on old ships/boats could not swim , so they couldn’t catch up with ship.
The ship experienced rough weather and some of the barrels of alcohol cracked open. All of the crew went upstairs to escape the fumes and was swept away by large waves.. The life raft was also lost in the storm.🤔
This also supported by the fact that it is denatured alcohol. (Poisonous alcohol for removing paint)
I like it how they upload like 4 videos a day
In Dr Who it was Daleks that knocked them off, literally jumped overboard after a time machine chase with the doctor.
I thought in Dr Who the Mary Celeste was the ship where the space medic abducted everyone and Rorry Pond nearly drowned.
@@janet6421 This was 1965 The Chase with first Doctor William Hartnell.
@@janet6421 That was the _Fancy_, Henry Avery's ship (although the episode takes place in 1699 and Avery retired from piracy in 1695).
You are rad!!I everyday see your videos.I even saw your slender man video.I am now scared of the dark.
The waters of the Atlantic must be too cold for swimming. When the lifeline connecting the lifeboat to M. Celeste broke, attempts of the crew members to swim back all ended with them either drowning from rough sea currents or dying from hypothermia.
What background music did you use? Sorry for asking, this video is a few months old but I used the information to make a school project and I was looking for background music and I think yours fits the best.
Missing life boat that's the evidence we all need
I think the one were the captain thought there was alcohol fumes in the ship and tied a life boat to the ship to wait it out was the right story.
There was a snapped rope attached to the back of the ship.
And there where cracks in some barrels which then could have let the fumes leaking out.
And it has been none to have bad weather at the time, leading to the rope that held their life boat to snap
I recall that they used white oak for liquid barrels, red oak for dry goods. Someone put alcohol in red oak barrels and it leaked threw barrels.
what scares me isnt the story itself but the fact tht infograohics show is reading it

V
I’m scared already 😁
Coughing and shortness of breath sounds like corona
The fact that there was 1 lifeboat missing means the crew had used it for some reason.
They probably thought the ship was sinking since water was inside the ship and left in a hurry. The alchohol theory is plausible as well.
But the alcohol was denatured so it is poisonous.
Can you guys look on the illuminate next
As soon as he said if the ship was cursed when it was built my mind immediately went to the movie Christine with the cursed car

People keep bringing this point up using quotes from old authors. I love this one the most.
Someone should make a movie on this.
The best horror stories are the ones that end in tragedy
Sounds like the captain had a bad case of Covid-61.
😂😂
Nice
I feel really sorry for that little girl onboard.
I think, given the volatile history of the ship, the captain did order them to abandon ship for a safety reason. I don’t think the rope (just broke). I think a whale or some sort of big fish breached and landed on top of it. Or a storm could’ve disconnected the life boat, as well.
I already kept the lights on and he warned me maybe for this one you should keep the lights on
this is what happen
Doctor Andrea Sella of the UCL Chemistry Department built a replica of the Mary Celeste.
He simulated a butane explosion from the cargo hold, which made a big fireball, but left no signs of burning on the ship itself.
This would explain why the ship was damaged but showed no signs of burning, due to a pressurized explosion.
It explains everything being left behind, and no entry in the Captain’s log. Because explosions at sea are scary.
By the way can you do a video of this What really happened to HMS Terror? The true story behind the chilling drama🙏🙏🙏
Can u do one of the dutchman?
People always confuse the Mary Celeste with the Carroll Deering, the ghost ship that was found in the Bermuda Triangle with all of its crew and passengers missing. The Mary Celeste was nowhere near the Bermuda Triangle, as its course took it from New York to Italy, and it was found abandoned off the coast of Portugal near the Azores.
I am from the Azores and I approve this video!
Why did nobody consider the possibility of a rogue wave?
Imagine... All hands are on deck, enjoying the weather, or in their respective positions, when all of the sudden a massive 80ft wave swells in front of you and before you can shout a warning, it breaks over the ship, washing everyone into the sea, as well as a life boat.
Did you already go to tortuga to make sure where they are?
4.4k views in 24 mins!!! What! Lol, well done infographics
What if another ship kidnapped everyone? And brung them to a place no one knows where it is?
I was thinking maybe like they stopped at the islands but never anchored and the ship left without them or something and when they realized the ship was gone they tried row boating towards where it could’ve been, then possibly had some sort of incident where they got least at sea and died. Or maybe that other ship threw them overboard so they could profit off a whole ship. Even though it’d be noted in the captains log. Unless that ship got pirated while the crew was at the island and they never made it back in time to save it so they got lost at sea in a row boat a second time.
The crew of the Dei Gratia killed all aboard the Mary Celeste for unknown reasons. Then they fabricated one of the greatest lies of all time: that the Mary Celeste crew was mysteriously gone.
Epic
I didn't know the skull 💀 and bones pirate ship flag was called the jolly Rogers flag
Same lol
They probably just thought they ship was going to sink since it was water in the bottom and got out of there, unless old ships like this usually had a little Water in them since it was made of wood. I don't know much about boats so
I think that maybe the crew of 10 saw a near island tied the shop down took a life boat to investigate but the ship might have drifted off leaving the crew stranded in a nearby island 11 says away from where the ship was found but I can't explain about the water pump so I'm not entirely sure I mean they could have taken it or maybe it just fell over board idk
I cut my light off then hear him say "And maybe for this one you should keep the lights on" Uh oh
My theory is that there were really bad weather like choppy waves and the door was open down to the barrels and the pump is broken so the water could not be let out so they thought the ship would sink so they cut the rope and try to escape and died because of bad weather
Do a video on ligers
I think you miss some points
1.The searching team found scar on front of ship most likely from a axe they said.
2. There was blood in captains sword.
Watching this on 24 November 2021.
Let's see if tomorrow presents itself to me or has this videos mention of 25 November cursed me 😅
I think a bad storm happened and some people were thrown overboard during the storm so the remaining people jumped on the life boat to save them and tied a rope to the ship so they didn't drift away but the storm was so strong the life boat sunk and everyone drown.
Moral of the story: never rename a ship or…
On sea of thieves when the whole crew leaves the game and the ship is left on the sea
I've heard about this ship before but still can't figure it out. If the crew was kidnapped you'd think whoever took them would have also taken supplies off the ship. Alien abduction maybe? Lol 👽
According to an episode of Doctor Who the Daleks landed on the Mary Celeste frightening those on on board who then promptly jumped overboard
I have looked at this story and several historical documents in this one. It is my opinion that the crew discovered the cask of alcohol were leaking and they boarded the life boat. Either the rope was accidentally cut by that crew or more possible, due to maritime laws the rope was cut Dy the crew of the Dei Gratia with hopes this was a bullion ship that was supposed to be near to that area in that time. The rope was just about half the length of standard life boat couplers of the time, which adds credence to the Dei Gratia crew. But alas, the story will remain as speculative for time immemorial.
The alcohol fume theory seems the most plausible, but why would all ten people cram into one lifeboat? Was there only one? Could it be that the crew was overcome by fumes and died? Could the Captain have cast the dead bodies into the sea and taken off with his family in the lifeboat because they couldn't operate a whole ship? Was any food and water missing? Maybe with water coming in through the broken pump AND alcohol fumes, they realized they couldn't stay on board to fix the situation and thought the ship would sink? If the casks were leaking, what would make them think the ship would air out? Wouldn't the alcohol just leak and leak until it was gone?
They thought they were going down so they jumped in the lifeboat only for the celeste to be okay
Exactly my thought
They probably panicked and abandoned ship when the water pump broke and in the chaos, maybe the rope was not tied on properly and they were lost to the sea. seems the most plausible, or it was for sure, the sea monsters. what else could it be otherwise?
I'd say that the miscalculation option is more likely.
I thought the largest pirate era was over the same year Captain Bartholomew Roberts died. This doesn't mean there aren't any pirates; Guatemala and the Philipines are two countries that haven't outgrown their pirate phase. Those sailors lived during an era in which people died of childhood diseases. Ships used to have concubines who spread diseases over seas. In the book Treasure Island there's a short ryme that goes, "But one man of her crew alive, what put to sea with seventy five."
pirates didn't generally slaughter everyone when capturing a ship. most of the time, they put up a black jolly roger, meaning they were going to give quarter. only if the captured ship resisted, did they instead put up a red jolly roger, which indicated they would take no prisoners.
