Fishing a tourney this weekend and it’s supposed to be nasty. Cold front rolling in… rain….. surely I can find a couple of bites here and there on a jerk right? More of a smallmouth fishery also. You’re awesome Matt keep grinding
One trick I use for winter bass is float a jerk bait up and do small pulls or you can use a crank bait my biggest is a 3 in winter. Has anyone else did this
Matt, I used to get bit regularly at my lake with the jerk bait but, I cannot get bit at all for a while now. I’m not sure what happened but, my fish just won’t hit it! Maybe they got used to it. I fish from the bank solely in 3-6 feet of water. Not ideal for that presentation. Where did the bite go? LOL
That’s a tough one. I think weather has a lot to do with jerkbaits when it’s not FFS related. I’ve had days where it’s wide open with a jerkbait, but then the next day they won’t eat it.
Ive had a similar experience. For the last year or so ive caught way less on a jerkbait. Before that it was a confidence bait for me. Even the days when it wasnt great, i could atleast count on catching a bunch of little ones with the occaisional keeper mixed in. Now the bites are few and far between, and only seem to come when i get real close to some nasty cover, or catch a crazy morning fish that wouldve bit anything.
@gumslinger11 i definitely think things ebb and flow. It will come around. The fish I catch a lot on jerkbaits are away from home, but there have been days where it’s good at home, just very inconsistent. Jerkbaits catch fish year round, but a lot of it can be dependent on the fish and conditions.
Very well put together video 10 out of 10
Thanks! Hope it helps!

I’d imagine a jerkbait would get a few bites. An arig is an option too if those are allowed in the event .
@@MattLunaFishing yessir. You the man. You’ve got fans in West Texas brother
