The boat build is in full swing....and I am still worried about sponsors though. I have sent one of my fans off to Dusseldorf Boat Show to create some opportunities, so let's see what happens.
The Odisea 48 from Odisea Catamarans has just started to get built in Vietnam. The design is complete, the paperwork has been done and now the factory has had 4 days to start the job and they are welding like madmen. Finally the wait is over, the Elcano World Challenge will begin in 2024 people.
If you would like to help the project along then become a patron and get access to exclusive content.

I reckon this aluminum catamaran sailboat will be the strongest built sailboat on the ocean!!! The quality of the workmanship is truly impressive. I hope and pray your documentation of this build opens this company to new opportunities in their marketplace. They are worthy of the highest praise so far. Well done Mate.
I can see a trip to Vietnam in my future, to see about my new cat. 🤪My old one died. 😪
Does that mean what I think it means?
You are going to have yourself a top quality boat when that is done Plukky.
Only the best people ! Only the best ! 😂😂😂😂😂
I just want to point out all that WONDERFUL space available on those hulls, mast, and boom to put corporate sponsorship logos.
Can you imagine the return on investment given that this boat is likely to be seen by just about every catamaran enthusiast across the planet, regardless of their boat purchasing plans -- this is, for me, the foil on which a lot of trusted sailing technology and emerging sailing technology will show off it's value most impressively.
It's interesting to see the bending process, had no idea that's how it was done.
Just like the original handmade Ferraris, Jaguars, Austin Martins.
@@dennispatrick4999my uncle worked in a high end body shop and he was sent to England for 2 weeks to learn to run the wheel and other English tools because the owner in the States was English and had the machines. He had to go over there so he could learn to make a trunk lid for a very rare Ferrari out of aluminum. Ferrari wouldn't do it. My uncle was a machinist and he learned the wheel just for that job, but he used it a lot afterwards too. I can't imagine how much the owner of the car paid for that deck lid.
Yeah. I bought a 46 ft Easton and never had a clue of the handmade aspect of the Aluminium Construction ❤
How do you know they did it the same way though? @@wavehunta
Those rolling devices are common in sheet metal work. Used all over the world.
Going awesome. Was a little worried not hearing from you for a day or two there…. You’ll be wondering what to do with a fridge on board in no time!
I've never seen an ally yacht built from full-size sheets of 4mm 5083, they've always been built with the width of the sheet for and aft rather than the length. Pretty cool.
Flat out like a lizard drinking there Plucky, just keeping up with the progress on camera, these guys are really on top of their game cheers mate
I watched a video on another channel last week. There's a couple refitting a mono hull sailboat. And one of there projects is to put oars on the boat so they can row the boat.
A boat that sails in light winds is a good boat.
@angela, ... where HAIL YE?
There are plenty of old heavy full keel boats that have done laps around the world happily. Its all compromises and fitting the task.
A boat that does'nt sink is a good boat
This is frigging awesome Plucky. I’m so bloody stoked for you. If ever a RUclips sailor deserved a break it is definitely you mate. You’re in your element in that factory and have made life long friends with the builders. Nothing but quality!
You keep rubbin' that hull like that and we're going to have to change your nickname to Aladdin. LOL! No Genie comin' out of it! In any event, she is shaping up to be a beautiful vessel. Our acronym for BDs was CHs. You know. lol
Great stuff brother. Loving the build.
That aluminum hull truly is a work of art.
is that jacket, one of them are wearing, a cooling garment, it looks like it's puffy as if it has a fan in it using those black disc's as vents.
PETER, I am hoping and praying that you have made provisions for the 80 scrap pieces for us original "KICKSTARTERS" aka "PLANK HOLDERS"🙏❓❓🙏
The build is coming along nicely. Looking more like a boat every week.
Ahhhh I can get my fix now, good stuff Plucky
Good stuff I have been watching for this video for a few days now highlight of my week.
Amazing craftsmanship. Looking fantastic. 🎉🎉🎉
This crew makes some aluminum envying. The curves make such a strong and beautiful hull. Even better than the admirable start that evolved into ODC.
Hope them welds hold plukky if they let go someone could lose an eye mate great progress can almost taste them pineapples again I hope Lisa is keeping tabs on your progress
Later in the video it looks like they are building a WW-II B-17
Skin on frame - that's the beauty of aluminium!
With this in depth knowledge of how your Odisea was built, you will know every square inch when you sail her, literally.
No option for thumbs up on the supporters vid, so , thumbs up on the full release... This boat is going to be incredible!!!
Paul, it's there. Click the "Thumbs Up."
@@dennispatrick4999 You get the pre release supporter emails???
RUclips thumbs up always help the statistics
This is the most awesomest thing I've watched on my tablet, since I watched Taylor Swift win the Superbowl yesterday.
Very skookum progress there, Plukky!
Cheers again from 🇨🇦
Plukky, I'm going to be in Jakarta late this month accompanying my daughter for a couple of speaking engagements. But I haven't been able to carve out time to travel to Viet Nam or Malaysia. I would love to meet with you and the build and view a Maramu for sale in Malaysia. I'll work on it.
Great stuff on the build.
Great video, Cap'n Plukky!!! It was worth the wait!!! ✝️🙏❤️🇺🇸⛵️👣🍍😊
I was looking today for an update, glad to have you back!!!
Great choice of brand, Kemppi, for the welding machines when it comes to aluminum. From Finland with love. Cheers.
Comments, YT likes them. Here is to spreading the word. Cheers 🥃
While I truly admire the curves you often shoot under water, I must say that watching these curves getting eased into place is strangely fascinating. Incredible work by the crew here!
Your expression when stroking the hull - priceless.
Awesome to see how well the boat is build. Great work is done there in the factory!
The fabricators/welders liking🤪 you filming them work
The 7 seas conquer Plukky🦘🦘🦘
I remember seeing breach loader power slip roller roll fustrums and over roll the curve 1% . clings to frames and you lower weight onto boat jacks to press that final midbelly weld tight. sombody else used 18” alu pipe as bottoms
I need a couple patrons 😅 to get my transmission fixed on my car 😂
Any idea what the final weight will be?
I am so HAPPY to see you BACK in GOOD SPIRITS !👍💪❤🏝
You gotta love the perfection that these guys are going for. Well, nothing is to good for Plucky!
Very interesting to see the progress. Great work.
20 min RUclips video and followed 10min live chat with Q&A video then live chat. Greatness People!!
I continue to be amazed at the access you have with this build Plukky. It means great content. Thanks.
Looking bloody good mate. I reckon you could drive that straight over a reef and not even notice it!!!!
Don’t give him any ideas…
Glad you are back!!
Amazing the speed at which it is going.👍💪⛵️😎
Its looking great nicely done
Northing but Quality looking amazing and its so smooth !
Goodonya Plukky!!🤙🤙doin good! All the best to ya!! 🇦🇺🧿
Top stuff Plukky, pretty obvious now why so many aluminum boats are hard chine. Feeling that fairness of the hull must give you a little rise in the privates. 😛 You keep rubbing that hull, you're going to go blind. 😂😂
Launch day is getting closer and closer. Can't wait. Will those ladies join you?
Looking good Plucky........the boat too. 😂
Amazing ! You the Man Peter. Thanks for the show.
How good are the shirts with built in fans!
SMOOTH COMMENT
I am always amazed by the drive for perfection by your builders.
The build is going great and all hands on deck plz. Jeff the Navy vet
Pete-Pete, Dude? Nothing but quality, 'People'! 🤠👍 Yippy-Ki-Yay, Cowboy! 😎🤣
Nice video once again!
Incredible strength in the bow section, I feel sorry for any yacht you accidently "ram" I mean bump in to...
Great work with sheeting the skin of the hull, it's hard to guage thickness but I'd guess that's 8mm sheet with stringers every 20cm, very strong indeed!
As always, looking forward to your next edition!
Well done, and thank you! 😄
Nothing but quality peepole....I'm another one fascinated by the build and delighted you have such access to the process...
3:22 Peter is picking up bad habits now that he is back on land. lol
Fascinating process… that’s going to be one tough assed cat. 😂👍😎
I enjoy watching different builds like Tally Ho; Arabella; Ciba and Ran 2 for the wooden side then.......... M.J. and Ruby Rose for the fiberglass build then .............Parlay; Odd; Kika and Dan ; Knuckle headed David for the fixer-uppers and then YOU big boay.
All AL-U-MIN-UM put together from the start is something I look forward to watching. Seeing a completed vs a build gets one an appreciation of the skills involved.......... enjoy
Carry on ya mad bastard ......................
Panu from Arctic SeaCamel is sure to appeal to you too.
This is amazing what a Fantastic team to build a new type of Boat no one has done yet.
What's "New" about any of it??
She's gonna be a beauty!
Is your new boat going to be called Freedom 2?
2 Buckets of Freedom 👍
Looking good 🎉
Will you be able to solo this boat? Just wondering you've always been so independent 💕
Yes but if the shit hits the fan it becomes difficult
seems very labor intensive - haven't watched a fiberglass build of this size or scope so don't know how to compare the two. Would be interested in your comparison thoughts.
Easier with a mould
I have seen some composite spending even more time. Effective work matters.
Thanks Plucky, So if you're making a lot of them the mold is faster but initially you have to make a mould - but I'd guess there will be some economies of scale with the aluminum also (they will get better)@@SAILINGintoFREEDOM
… “Only two boats in a big factory? Soon the factory will be full of OCD 48s, OCD 55s and OCD 62s” … Great news and congratulations Peter to yourself, Odisea, Adonis and Ba Son. It looks like we’re witnessing the development of a viable commercial aluminium catamaran production facility. A facility that will produce a cat. that may just come to dominate the "safest, fastest and best value" category out there. I can imagine your documentation of the whole build process, along with design insights and comparison between competing build materials may have many current glass cat. customers reconsidering their preferred boat. So pleased for yourself, Odisea and Ba Son. :o))
👍
Plukky you'll be playing caveman on a catamaran in no time! I can't wait to see how you finish her off.
@comfortablynumb, Help us "FINISH 'HER' Off" by petitioning "MUSK" on "X" ... allowing him the opportunity to join the "TEAM" ... ... "Hey "ELON" ... got any "ReGen" motors? Got any Batteries? That "X" would look awfully good on the side of "FREEDOM"
@@capttom7772 no. I can't stand Musk. That guy is pure evil.
....shhhh....mebbe not a good idea telling Plucky to 'finish off' a boat....
Loving this build series Peter.
Plucky do you have a crew for the boat? If so, please show them.
Anywhere there is metal work, there are hammers.
Looking good !! GR8 workmanship..
So...Peter
whatever happened to your last crew? That last series came to an abrupt end
...@1.43...dead right it is a work of art.
Can't wait to see what it looks like in the water.
Excited to find out what mast and rigging you have chosen.
Mebbe get a tux plucky and just swan around the swanky boat shows for a bit at first..before you start denting her....
Top notch keep it up. You will be sailing in no time.
love u so peter n how lucky u r to have this soon..u r one funny guy..cant wait til u splash
Go Plukky looking good
@ 6:50…….you called the right side “port side”……isn’t port the left side?
Possibly... not sleeping much ..brain is befuddled
I bet…..no video for ten days…..probably partied with those two girls that advertise your vlogs…..n ordered “fosters” after a dozen drinks, confusing the waitress every time….day ten…..last thing you remember was dancing naked only wearing a robe n doing the testicle tuck
Lokking Great mate !!!
Over time, the abundance of noise will damage your hearing. Please use precautionary measures to prevent. Once its gone there's no getting it back. 🦻
Sailing Nahoa is building an aluminum cat. They plan to start their second circumnavigation soon into the Pacific to be closer to the build location. Aluminum builds are interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Craftsmen ship top notch 👍
Very nice! That was way better than grinding, where are the ASMR weirdos?
Seriously impressed by the work, you ought to say to one of them some time, "really great but you know I said stainless". Just kiddin' they are using that all ready, or why else use your EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). Yeah I looked it up 🙂
The move to aluminium for multihulls and monohulls is interesting several boat have been planned. I wonder how this may change the general boat building market in the future with all the advantages and disadvantages of aluminium vs fiberglass.
Top stuff Peter. I wonder if one day humans could 3D print boats out of steel, aluminum or titanium. We would have far less welding and cutting/fitting. Boat would be far cheaper to build...and faster completion time. You would make a fortune.
The problem is some of the strength of the materials comes from the working of them into plate
A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart ❤️😂🎉~Goethe
Back to the Asian chicks😢😮❤
Good on you Plukky.
Wow awesome 🎉
Love it, love it, Love it!!
Great footage.
another enjoyable video!
Loving the videos, great work
Great build
Great bay build
Nice work mate
Liked! Subscribed!! Commented!!! ya can always hear them grinders in the background those boys are workers! looked like one was using a conical burr noth'en better for slivers all over ya. they get the job done so its a love hate relationship
when the girls won't let you touch them...aluminum will have to do
Who is the other boss in the white coveralls...for whom safety seems to an option?
