I didn't know that Turbo S has a 6 speed Auto trans. Because I know for damn sure that my 2002 1.8T Yellow Color Concept Edition Beetle with an auto trans does NOT have 6 speed. My auto trans feels like it has a 3 speed auto with OD. I was looking to change the fluid so I'll have to look and see if it's the same procedure
@mysterygarageCA I'm trying to change out whatever I can. oil pan gasket is next on my list, just did the spark plugs and blower motor. I love my little car!
Is the transmission still good after the fluid change and service?? I just bought a 02 1.8t Gti with 141k miles. And wondering if the transmission will have problems if fluid is chaned and serviced.
No. It went out. But there was a lot of metal when I first open it so I was expecting for the tranny to go out. Since I bought it it was jerking on 1st gear. But usually on situations like yours you only drain and refill, it’s not recommended to do a full service.
My 2004 VW beetle 1.18 T is hesitating. I took it to VW for a diagnostic and they are trying to get me to replace the transmission at 98k miles , when the timing belt was replaced around 72k mi. (For $11k parts & labor, which is the worst scam because I paid 4000 cash for this car at 68,000 miles) Can I just get it serviced instead of fully replaced and get my car to stop the jerking when it’s in idle?
@@mysterygarageCA I really appreciate your response, thank you. At this point, I’m just preparing to get a new car. I don’t know how long it will drive with these issues until it fully breaks down
I’m thinking about buying a 2001 turbo beetle that has camshaft sensor issue and all the plastic hoses connect to the turbo are brittle. It has only 80k miles on it
Beetles are nice but everything brakes easily in the interior. Motor is good but auto trans goes out after 130plus miles. If it’s manual even better. Regardless of how crappy they are, I’m still keeping mine.
This is a wonderful video, very comprehensive and short
Thank you!
thanks my god
Dude, What is the torque on the bolts, Thanks

@@supafrancis same concept.
my beetle has over 200k miles on it, definitely need to do a drain and refill soon 😅
Yeah, it’s a good idea to keep up with the services on this cars or it can get expensive

@@misssue4043 no. Most likely you need to rebuild it or buy a replacement. My trans went out as well.

Question are the 2001 and 2006 transmission the same...
It should be the same process but get the fluid from the dealer.
Is the process the same for the 2001 turbo beetle?
It is.

How much do you think is a good price for a 2001 turbo beetle?
@@lam_nguyenn_ I bought mine for 2,200 running with 113k miles.
@@mysterygarageCA was there anything problems or engine light when you bought it?
@@lam_nguyenn_ yes, it had the crank position sensor problem. And needed a lot of maintenance.
