    **FAQs**
    *What's included?
    -Specially modified used LG G3 (rooted and reprogrammed) with Car Launcher
    -Ground Loop Isolator
    -FM Modulator
    -12v-5v step down transformer
    -cables (power, audio)
    -Aux cable adaptor
    -Bluetooth GPS device (if selected)
    *How do I connect it to the internet?
    Simply set up your hotspot on your mobile phone and connect it to that.
    *Does it need to be online?
    No. Most music streaming apps like Spotify and Amazon Music allow you to download your playlist. This means that you won't need to put the unit online to stream as you drive. The same goes for navigation. Apps like Google Maps and TomTom allow you to download maps so you won't need to be online. That being said, you will lose out on live updates such as traffic and speed cameras/police if you're not online
    *The original ICM3 screen is taken out - what negative impact does this have?
    Without the original screen, you will lose the ability to change sound settings such as bass and treble, fade and balance. However, your car will remember your preferences from before you removed the screen. You can actually still access these settings if you remember where the settings are without the screen (do it blind). You can install an app to control bass and treble.
    The screen doesn't do anything else, so you're not going to lose anything else. Radio stations, for example, are on the SID screen on your dashboard. In addition to the lack of stock screen, the numeric buttons 2,3,5,6,9 and # will also no longer function as there will be wires routed behind them, however they will still light up. You will still have buttons 1&4 for storing old FM stations.
    *Can I install a SIM direct?
    Yes you can if you want, the back of the installed phone is accessible and removable.
    *Do I need a Tech2 to install?
    No, it's plug and play.
    *What about my steering wheel controls?
    You will retain the usual steering controls. This means volume, CD tracks and radio stations. Unfortunately, you won't be able to change tracks, for example, on Spotify.
    *How long does it take to boot up from ignition on?
    Around 60 seconds until you can start using it. Please note that you will need to allow the unit to fully boot up (90 seconds) before turning off the ignition. This is because an app detects the loss of ignition power that triggers the device to shut down and it needs time to initialise. If you do switch off your ignition during boot-up, it means the unit will not switch off until the phone battery dies.
    *Can I stream music from it from my phone via Bluetooth?
    Not out of the box. But the point of this device is that you can stream directly to it by installing your music app direct and you can even download your music directly for offline consumption. If you must have Bluetooth streaming, there are apps you can install on both this device and your phone which will allow this.
    *Can I make phone calls hands free?
    No. There is no microphone.
    *What about Android Auto / Apple Carplay?
    No. BUT it will do all the stuff you want in a different way without the need for your phone, but you won't get your messages displayed on-screen or calls coming through.

    You're so close to something amazing here!! Ditch that dingy FM transmitter and hard wire the phone's AUX out via CD player in. Just gotta find the leads on the EHU after the MOST connector. Someone did this successfully a few years ago... just gotta find that post on SC.

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  4 года назад +1

      This is actually an option. It depends on the technical capabilities of the installer. The FM transmitter is a no-frills, throw-it-in option. If you're more advanced, I highly recommend going direct to the aux in

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  4 года назад +1

      Ok, I'm actually going ahead and including this with the package

    • @djfremen
      @djfremen 4 года назад

      @@SaabUnleashed the issue with the antiquated FM transmitter is interference (eg driving near an airport). A direct link would be much cleaner. Although you'd have to hit the SRC button once without hijacking the CD changer (Assuming you disable CD via Tech2, as it's normally two presses).

      The CD changer on a 2001 to 2006 9-3 is a fibre optic unit and is on the MOST ring.
      Use the Aux input instead (may need to be enabled with a Tech2).

    Amazing mod!!!... As a 93 2004 Aero and G3 owner for years this might be the most useful upgrade Ive ever seen. But please consider G3 graphic card heating issues which is cost me 2 main-board mostly crash itself to black screen. My humble suggestion is; give it some free space on installation. Take the back cover out, use some aluminum etc... Bad luck Ive ICM2 :(

    Hi
    Do you think it would be possible to add DAB to this?, I have a OTG cable that allows for charging at the same time as using a USB device, so my thoughts are to add DAB via an adapter and downloading an app to the phone

    • @justcarkits4532
      @justcarkits4532 3 года назад

      He is using an LG mobile phone. This does not have DAB support.
      The Android cheapo Chinese USB DAB receivers are appaling. Have seen many of them and without fail they have very poor reception. The software app is also flaky and ergonomically challenged. You may get it to function over OTG, but would doubt it.
