Bill Cullen and Bob Hilton both previously worked together on the NBC game show 'Blockbusters', a game where if two heads were better than one...or vice-versa!
When this pilot episode was taped on Monday, May 10, 1982, school lunch menu courtesy of the Glendora, CA Unified School District: Pizza Singles, Seasoned Green Beans, Celery Sticks w/Peanut Butter Dip, Fruit . . . . and it's going to be on Applesauce.
Johnny Olson would be a better choice. Bill Cullen was good, but other suggestions were Nipsey Russell, Geoff Edwards, Bobby Van, Jack Narz, Jim Peck, or Bill Anderson.
Just like with "Body Language", it appears that this show was originally meant to straddle. But would it have made a difference? Not really. This show was quite expensive to produce, and when it aired, it was always getting its ass kicked by "Wheel of Fortune", and then by "Sale of the Century".
+Vahan Nisanian it was a decent effort by Goodson but even you could see that outside of revivals and hybrids (and even this was a revival of sorts of a competing producer's- Jack Barry's Hollywood;s Talking- series.) Goodson's knack for successful concepts would ultimately be nonexistent in the twilight of his career. Despite Goodson's name and rich history , Uncle Bill's familiarity and affability and having Dick Clark and Bob Barker as neighbors Wheel and Sale (except that initial Period with Sally Julian ) were just better produced shows

You don’t say!
That's another game show!
@@mrceleb2006 I wasn’t naming a show!
@@kissfanmac OK then!

Who cares?
@@kissfanmac-- apparently YOU since ya got upset about a comment from _over eight years ago_ 🤣 hahahaha!!
@@virg0_lem0nade It’s the things I do at 3am, ya big silly! 😜
Dautie sure made her rounds on the game show circuit. She was the perfect contestant.
Dautie appeared on BODY LANGUAGE three years later and was a retired champion; I saw those episodes on Game Show Network 15 years ago.
I actually remember this show. It was really cute!! ❤❤❤❤
Later replaced by Press Your Luck. Kids replaced by the dreaded Whammies.
Star Words was originally going to replace Child's Play.
True.
Game Show Trading might have almost all Episodes of this show.
Note the name of the bonus in the pilot "The ABC Game." That sure made people at ABC happy! No wonder it became Triple Play and eventually Turnabout.
'Child's Play' was taped at Television City in Hollywood for CBS...but it wasn't displayed at the end!
Good.
This is a better scoring system than giving one point per answer and two per answer on a buzz in
Not really. Otherwise, the series wouldn't have existed.
Hmmmm.
I didn’t see the Graphic for Antiques
Here's a pilot episode of Child's Play in 1982.
Yes.
The spin off would be small talk right?
I know CBS had this show, back in the 1980s.
I honestly prefer Bob Hilton as the announcer for 'Child's Play" as opposed to Gene Wood.
+Tubewings I also know that Johnny Gilbert sub-announced on Child's Play, but so far, no eps have surfaced with him at the mic.
Johnny Olson would be a better choice. Bill Cullen was good, but other suggestions were Nipsey Russell, Geoff Edwards, Bobby Van, Jack Narz, Jim Peck, or Bill Anderson.
@@Rlotpir1972 Bobby Van died before this show aired
Same thing.
These kids are so cute 🥰
Anyone know how to find the names of the children??...I can't find the episodes I was on
I wish the game show network bring back this wonderful game show called child's play
Christopher kemp It plays every few days on Buzzr though!
Oh.
Dautie was on this game show?
