      Yes sir! Those are the berries! I’ve used the old style for a long time but I switched to those last year and man what a difference….especially for a old wore out planter. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the new video! I’m in the process of getting a 4 row 7000 series. So you just broadcast your fertilizer on top and then plant??

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      Aaron, yes sir just broadcast on top and plant right into it. That’s awesome man, they are great planters, just have to keep a eye on all those chains….they slip off pretty regular and when they aren’t turning your not planting. Good luck with your plots! Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the video, will be planting my first acre this weekend with my newly acquired ford 309 planter, any advice on this would be appreciated

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад +1

      I’ve never ran a 309….seed depth around 1.5” is perfect and seed spacing of 7-8” apart is where I like to run. Just keep a close eye on the chains that’s run the planter, and most importantly get off the tractor pretty regular and go to work digging with your screw driver to make 100% sure it’s still planting. My 7000 is bad about a Chain coming off, and be driving through the field not planting. I’ve got to where I look back more than I look forward keeping a close eye on the planter. Make sure whatever you have that is closing the trench is set to where the trench is closed as much as possible, if not it’s easy bait for turkeys and crows. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!

    Looks Awesome Wes. I have a question for you. I planted 2 weeks ago. I had one shower and my beans and corn have sprouted but I have not had any rain since then and don see a lot of growth. Mind you I am observing from 4 states away with cell cams. I am going to have some good rain events tn the next few days. My question is, will my fertilizer be all burned off or should I add more when I go spray for weeds in a few weeks.
    EDIT: I should add that I did a burn off with Gly, Lymed and and sprayed with plotstart, disced, broadcast seed, broadcast fertilizer, then cultipacked.

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      Trying to make sure I understand….have you already added some fertilizer and your about to broadcast your nitrogen? Or you already have your nitrogen down? How much nitrogen did you put down?

    • @royguidry1311
      @royguidry1311 Год назад +1

      @DIYFoodplotpro I put down 8 bags of 38 nitrogen on one acre of Corn the day I planted. None on the acre of beans. I put 10 bags of triple 19 on the two acres as well.

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      @@royguidry1311 you put down 8 bags of 38-0-0?

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      @@royguidry1311 if you put down 8 bags of 38-0-0 you should have roughly 150 lbs of nitrogen on that 1 acre. You should be golden for the year with that, if you start seeing the corn turning yellow then you can add more but you shouldn’t need to.

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      @@royguidry1311 also about the corn in dry weather….it’s putting roots down, soon as you get a rain she’s gonna rock out and jump like you wouldn’t believe….literally overnight after a good rain.

    Hey when you say “roundup and your residual” what product are you using for your residual? And what does it do? As always thanks

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Год назад

      Hey Kevin! Thanks for watching. I’m
      Gonna use anthem max and roundup. Anthem max is my residual, roundup should clean everything back up. I would like to use Capreno as well to help fight some of the tougher weeds, but I have to read the label and make sure I can mix those in one spray tank. Capreno will also have some residual activity. A residual will form a barrier on the field and keep weeds/grass from coming up until the corn can get big enough where it shades the ground out. Thanks for watching!

      I honestly can’t remember which plot this is, I try to keep most all of them right 6.0….as they work lower and get into the mid 5’s I add lime to bring them back up. Thanks for watching
