There is no culture here . YOU WILL BE RUBBED OFF YOUR MONEY AND INSULTED AND THEN THROWN AWAY LIKE GARBAGE. You don't believe me ? Come and see for yourself .
morris kgn Hiya! In my experience (lived here for a year now) people have been very kind to me personally. I never had a problem going out alone to the city or countryside areas.. Also I do have to say it is difficult to find a job here as a native English speaker at first, but if you’re persistent like I was everything is possible. The country has helped me push myself out my comfort zone and actually become more healthy and fit as I feel safer to go out in nature 😊 Everyone has their own perspective, so I believe everyone should experience life here themselves..👍🏼😊
I was a couple of days in Slovenia in 2017 and, despite it was a very short trip, it was the most vertiginous I've ever, hahah. I got sick to my stomach so I spent almost 2 days at the hospital. So unfortunately I couldn't experiment much of the country itself -although I was hosted by a local. At least I knew on the first hand people's kindness and efficiency when treating an ill person. They were reaaally straight to the point in comparison to my culture (Chile, Latino), but I'm still very thankful. The fact that everybody spoke English helped me A LOT, otherwise I don't know what I'd have done. I hope to come back one day!
Awhh that's ashame to get sick while travelling, I can relate but not to that extent lol. When I used to travel back and forth from England to Slovenia, I always used to end up ill at and to stay home during my stay. I think it was due to the stress for me as I would travel alone lol. Now I am fine thankfully travelling haha. I am glad you also had a pleasant experience with the people here, as I have. They are happy to help which I also appreciate, and if one person doesn't know English they are happy to find someone who does to help, which is great! :D
Hi, Please could you make another video about life in Slovenia as a foreigner? I would like to one day move from England to Slovenia but I would like to learn more about the process of moving there and finding work. Thanks !
Hi, I really enjoyed your video. There was a series "Kako postaneš Slovenec / How to become a Slovene" on Radio SI international a few years ago that I recommend. I think it also on youtube..
I most say that you do nice video about us. I am really happy that I live here and some foreigner makes a video and shares his experience in Slovenia. The best part of the video is: JESUS MARIJA, hahaha well done :D
Jo beautee still stajerska region which explains it😊i’m slovenian in wales nearly five years now (no can’t speak welsh haha) and locals say my english has a hint of welsh accent
@@petraskvarc317 ooh, that is cool! I have some relatives that live in Wales too, but they hardly have an accent lol But when I go to Scotland I defo get a mixed accent, and notice it xd
This is quite accurate 😂 Some thoughts on "Jezus Marija" btw: I feel like that's an expression more commonly used in the countryside/villages. I'm from a city and haven't really heard it much around (and when I did, it was always an elderly person saying it). Just saying "oh my god" (in English, because some English expressions have found their way into our informal language) is very common among the younger generation (especially in the cities). 🙂
I agree, omg was the go to phrase for me living in the UK. But ever since moving to the countryside I hear all sorts xd I even find myself saying it to my cats lol 😅
That couldnt be more true about the Slovenian level of fitness, even the ones that look fat and out of shape are like athletes going up mountains and i have even seen a pregnant woman pushing a pram over take me.
Yh, Slovenia has many dialects so that adds to the challenge. I can make basic sentences, but there usually in the wrong tense or something lol But the person generally understands what I'm saying. I guess I just need to practice more :)
@Frank Burjan Yeah that's what makes it challenging. Also most people around me speak English so it doesn't give me the chance to practice, so that's something I need to work on lol.
@@Jo_thi that's good for you, thank you! I've heard from a few people that Slovenes are somewhat racist, similar to Germans, that they also discriminate against brown people and the Roma community
@@ashvoj we mostly discriminate bosnians (who live here for 40 years and still dont speak slovene) and one roma community, the other one has already assimilated. and we dont like illegal imigrants because they like to break in other peoples houses and are strain on our wellfare system(we arent rich country). whole eastern europe is like that, that they dont discriminate black people, because the ones that came here came because of education(university) and then stayed here. and slovenian town had elected black mayor
ashvoj I don’t think all people are the same, so to say Slovenes or Germans are racist is a harsh statement. In every part of the world there are people who discriminate and living in some stone age where they can’t get along. So honestly it depends on who you meet not the location generally..
I love the video! it was funny, but you completely butchered 'Jezus Marija' lol. Anyway, my go to 'swear' word is Jezus Marija or just Marija. Jezus Marija translates to Jesus Mary (Mary as in Virgin Mary). Fun.
