Movie star and TV 8 alum Raquel Welch was in San Diego for Bob Hope’s USO show. She sat down with the man who is credited with “discovering” her…Bob Mills, Sun Up San Diego original host. Raquel did the weather for several months in 1960. Bob asked her if beauty pageants help launch careers in show business. She didn’t think so and made the case why. She was Fairest of the Fair and Maid of California in 1958. She talked about working with Bob Hope. She said the best role she had thus far was Bandolero! with Jimmy Stewart and Dean Martin…it was released later that year.
This rare film clip was donated by Paula Millisor Richards, Bob Mill’s daughter. It does not appear in the script book so it’s not clear if it ever aired. Look for the USO show soon. We will have to retrieve and digitize it.
Perhaps the most beautiful and graceful woman of the 20th century....
A close second to Lynda Carter
@@TheRedDevil_NChoney bun, no.
So, so, so beautiful. RIP.
Thank you for sharing this! Lovely quality too.
Crazy beautiful
Could he possibly invade her personal space anymore?
I thought the same. He made me uncomfortable for her.
She did a good job hiding her discomfort. But it was clear in her body language.
@@Roguedeus she didn't hide well 0:56 it's noticeable
I noticed that too
He might be to close to her but seriously can you blame the guy
So.....Bob Mills died in 1997 (after a series of heart attacks) and he was 69 at the time of his death. This was filmed in 1968......which would have made Bob Mills about 40 years old. Now I ask you, does he look/sound like a 40 year old man in this clip?
It never ceases to amaze me how much older/more mature-looking men used to look.....back in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. So many regular Joes and famous actors who were 30 but looked 40.....or 40 but looked like they were 50. Amazing!
I have my vices, and I know nothing about Bob Mills' habits, but I watch old movies and read about the actors who played character parts in them. And, I agree. they all look older than their years. I've certainly seen a pattern of folks often drinking hard liquor and smoking. I'm guessing there was little to no exercising in their daily life either. I'm not casting judgment and this is anecdotal, but there certainly seems to be a correlation.
RIP to a San Diego original.
she is deeply missed.
Isn’t she the one everyone in “Shawshank Redemption” had a poster of
Rita Hayworth
@@LetThereBeRaineTVNo, it was Raquel’s poster from 1 million.
@@LetThereBeRaineTV both actresses were featured.
@@Jocelyn_Jade The Last poster was Raquel but the decade(s) before movie night hair flip darling of Shawshank was Rita
