When I first heard this song, I was a little girl and it was Aaliyah singing it. That intro. It stopped me in my tracks. Did my research and discovered it was a cover. The Isley brothers - wow they really did they're thing!! Aaliyah went on to become one of my biggest forms of therapy. That angelic tone, the ridiculously beautiful delivery. It gave me comfort as a kid and through my teens up until now. A real RnB queen. So this is my lil acoustic rendition, my payment of homage to baby girl on her birthday tomorrow. Her legacy lives on and this song stays mending and breaking my heart all at once. If you like it, and you LOVE her. LET ME KNOW x
I was a teenager when the Isley Brothers produced this song, I always thought Aaliyah sang it in her own way to make it hers. Now to hear you sing it, I am proud to be apart of all three productions of a song that was sung in your own way. Your innovations in tone and pitch are remarkable Sinead. Great job. Actually, Thailand got their style from Cambodia. Thai were Chinese migrant from Yunnan Province and learned the Indian Vedic from the Mon-Khmer. Please give credit to the original. Beside, Siam changed their name to Thailand in 1939!
I have never seen anyone take any of Liyah's songs, keep the style but still make it their own. Sinead really did that!

I like this version it's nice. But Frank Aaliyah and Isley made it their own. Of course Isley brothers is the original and when Aaliyah covered it it felt new. Didn't feel like a cover. And niether does Frank's it felt brand new. This is nice but still feels like a cover. But overall she sang it beautifully.

I was a little girl when my father had to go overseas for one year because he served in the military. We just dropped him off at the airport, and I was feeling so many feelings. Sadness. I was a daddy’s girl. My mother played this song to ease me. I am now a grown woman with children. I have sung this song to my oldest son since he was a newborn. It means so much to me.
