- Can We Beat Honkai Star Rail With ONLY Follow Up Attacks? Is it possible? Let's find out. I've been curious about these Honkai Star Rail Only challenges, and I wanted to make my own spin on it.

Honkai Star Rail has an endgame called Simulated Universe. SU includes Swarm Disaster and Gold and Gears. Many HSR Tier List, Guides have been made for Difficulty 5 World. Characters like Jingliu, Dan Heng, Blade, Dr Ratio, Sparkle, Ruan Mei, Bronya, Fu Xuan, Aventurine, Acheron.
Follow Up Attack Only, Elation Only, or OnlyFUA is a series where we use only characters that can do Follow Up Attacks. I may make a Honkai Star Rail Tier List for the Honkai Star Rail Only Challenge that I do from how difficult it is.

I think Luocha’s safety heal is like a follow up attack
I considered that, but I'm not too sure myself
Since it's not really an attack, but it is out of turn, which means Fu Xuan's or Natasha's auto heal would sorta count too
Honestly, I like the idea, but I'm unsure, at least for now, maybe when the challenge reaches MoC and I need healers desperately, I'll probably consider this
I don't think so but Aventurine should be prioritized
@@Rebber i would rule out Fu Xuan's, because its a byproduct of her ult, not an actual talent/trace/eidolon popping up
Natasha DOES have one but it tied to her Eidolon iirc, the one where she trigger follow-heal when she herself on low HP

stat increase traces should be allowed, i feel like its an unnecessary restriction (its not like your not using sustain) so i would allow them to be unlocked.

@@Rebbermain thing I want you to do is be a little looser with yourself, a challenge is gonna stop being fun if you’re too strict with it. If I were the one doing this I’d simply set it to only using characters who can deal follow-up damage in some form (whether through base kits or eidolons) and not worry about whether leveling their stat increase traces counts or whether QQ E4 is valid due to rng. But that’s just me, this is your series, do what you feel works best!

I'll keep this challenge as balanced as possible, since being able to use multiple Paths gives me a lot to choose from, and with the right combination, I think I can win against the enemies
In the future MoC related stuff, if I see it as impossible, I'll tweak the rules by then, but personally, keeping it a challenge definitely feels more rewarding once I defeat the bosses haha
I think traces that boost FUA should be allowed, like stat increases that it scales on or critical rate/damage since it affects FUA. Some ascension passives could be allowed if the boost FUA too. A bit out there one might be king yuan’s A4 which gives him 15 energy at the start of battle cause his ult increases the Lightning Lords amount of hits so technically it boosts it by making it more frequent. But that’s just my thoughts, I look forward to what you do
Not a bad thought process, though limiting myself for now since I can always upgrade in the future (facing harder content) but I can't reverse it

this challenge seems really fun, you're doing a great job! i love using follow up attack characters (himeko + jing yuan were my first ever five stars), so it's fun to see them get more spotlight :-)
i think you should be able to use qingques e4 when you get it, you can level up her basic attack as a substitute for the lack of a trace for it (since her follow up attack is basically just her basic, like bronyas e4)
some fun synergy as well for characters in case you ever get them in the future: himeko and xueyi work really well together, as they both rely on weakness break for follow ups! with the fact that xueyis ultimate can easily shred weaknesses, this helps himeko out a lot as well. himeko and herta are also a great pair in general, they always carry my pure fiction runs lmao
dr ratio likes debuffs, including dot! if you ever get kafka, him and her would work really well, as her shock dot would heighten ratios chance for a follow up attack :-) topaz should also be a great partner for ratio, or any follow up character really (lets hope she reruns soon...)
clara and march should be pretty good as well! march's shield basically works as somewhat of a taunt / increases aggro value, and clara has high aggro value from her ult / her being a destruction character. if you shield up clara, not only will she be able to get a good follow up attack, but so will march. it will also help prevent other characters who are less sustainable from getting hit.
with the release of aventurine coming up soon, this'll hopefully also help with the challenge, as hes another sustain unit! hope some of this helped out :-)

this is super interesting to me because a few months ago I also started an elation only account. It is cool to have a video format to watch while I play my account. Xueyi has been a blast for me to use personally and adventirune is gonna be so fun
Xueyi is a hard carry lmaooo, she just shreds bosses

there is true pain in not having the right element for a battle, the ending is such a relief!

Great video! Always happy to see people test the limits of the game especially with one of my favourite playstyles. I hope Topaz re-runs for 2.2 because it would probably help this challenge a lot. She even has a trace that turns her basic attack into a follow up one! Can't wait to see how you keep going!

with characters like qq (and also bronya) who get FUAs from eidolons, id say theyre allowed since theyre still FUAs, despite technically being an extension of their normal attacks .. ig youd probably level up the normal attack trace then if you decide theyre allowed
I think Bronya's is just an FUA? So sadly I don't think her Basic Attack counts 😭 or maybe I remember it wrong, not like this account will get a Bronya E4 anyways xD
Nice challenge, but considering how the difficulty in end game content just keeps rising... I wouldn't blame you if you upgrade other traces that aren't FUA related, like March's skill. I think you'll really need it!
Yeah I think upgrading the skill that activates a fua would be acceptable
I'll definitely consider them in much much harder stages, but I'll avoid them as much as possible for now since I can't undo the upgrades :)
That's what ithought when i started my account a week after release, pretty much getting almost all fua characters (some have exceptions like aven that doesnt rely on it, maybe)
There's a large amount of characters I can use so I balance it by having only FUA traces, this is going to come back and bite me in the butt later lol

i think you should be able to level up any trace that explicitly mentions follow up attacks (or the form the follow up attack takes), for example kafka’s major trace that increases base chance for shock on her follow up attack, clara’s increased dmg on counter (since the counter is the fua), and xueyi’s about karma stacks (since you need karma stacks to use her follow up),
as for topaz and numby, you should absolutely be able to unlock her trace that makes her normal attacks follow ups, her ultimate should count as well since directly buffs numby who is the follow up, her skill says it counts as a follow up so that can be leveled up in my opinion, but her two major traces i will leave to your discretion since one is numby deals more dmg to fire weak enemies (numby is the follow up attack), and the other is everytime numby attacks you gain energy back. since these explicitly mention numby who is the follow up it should count imo
and for aventurine i think only his talent, and a6 trace since a6 affects him getting stacks to do follow ups.
all in all i think traces that explicitly mention something that impacts follow up attacks can be upgraded, but things that increase dmg but dont mention follow ups should not (for instance aventurine’s ultimate which mentions bet stacking, but upgrading it doesnt impact how many stacks he can get at all since its random)
I'll definitely think of a way to balance trace upgrades, especially since it's getting a lot harder in SU
I've thought of a way to make the challenge a bit more interesting whilst still allowing me to use multiple characters without always having topaz be maxed lol
you’re crazy resilient for not restarting and making a new account after the bailu pull. because account rerolling is 20x easier on hsr compared to genshin i think it’s super worth it to just make accounts until you just get himeko/clara but honestly like the idea of committing to this one despite bailu showing up. 👍

Pro tip: if you play on mobile and your team is dying, you can go back to before you entered the battle by closing the hsr tab, so instead of accepting a character's death, you can just close the tab and redo the fight. (Don't ask why I needed to find this out)
It'll eat your technique points still though, but it's a good thing to know

I just found found your challenge when i started preparing for full follow up team around Aventurine, Topaz and Ratio... IPC follow up chaos.

Ive been doing Preservation only and its not even that hard (except the battles taking longer than my will to live) but adventurine starts off pretty slow until you get a decent lightcone on him and other stuff, geopard has been carrying the team.
You ensured survivability trading for low damage, at least Aventurine will help out a ton

A tip for march in simulated universe there are 1 blessing i forgot what it call but it give you heal when follow up attack and another blessing that have a chance to give you skill point for follow up attack
And then just spam shield with march i used that and she solo kafka final phase with like 100 damage buff
I always take it when I see it, but trust me, the damage of these enemies get way too much that the healing isn't even enough 💀
Its either I have max survivability but lack damage or OK damage with a chance to die at any moment

Imo, I think you should exclusively allow to use Sampo and Sparkle if you get them. It wouldn't makes sense if Elation Only cannot use characters that canonically follow the path of the Elation.
Just an opinion, you don't have to take on this idea.

I feel that the traces rule is kinda dumb because it just relagates some characters into uselessness compared to characters that mainly focus on FAU e.g Yanqing
But if I do allow other traces, would it really count as "FUA only"?
This is a pretty different challenge compared to the regular Paths, hence I only considered FUA upgrades, and it's a fun little way to see if I can beat content this way
@@Rebber It depends on how U look at it. If this is a challenge on how you can beat content with characters with FUA in their kit e.g Yanqing, Bladie Kafka but if U want U can continue doing it how U R doing

they dont play him and never did and still do like they know everything about his kit.
The best question for Yanqing haters is to ask how they rate his Eidolons.
When they say "Why does he get a higher chance to freeze he can't freeze!" then you know they never played him. (Yanqing does a Follow Up Attack that has like a 60-80% Freeze Effect Rate)
In short... build him and you will see that a well built Yanqing is as good as a well built Herta

If we take it literally, then yes, but since I've made Rule 1 being I can only use FUA characters, I don't get to use it sadly :) at least you know

So, all the follow-up attack characters are that i know of are, march, seele, blade??, kafka, topaz and numby, Jingliu?? Dr.Ratio, Aventurine, clara, yanqing,Himeko ((and probs some other 4 stars i forgot abt, please tell me or correct me))
Seele and Jingliu don't actually do FUA, but you're pretty much correct, just missing Herta, Xueyi, Jing Yuan, and QQ + Bronya (at E4)

He does, he will definitely be one of my biggest aims for this series lol, Blade solo sustain is just that good
