  • Hi and Welcome to WeasleysWeek!
This is the first video in what will be a series of young horse videos, exploring all the stages you need to go through to make your baby into a confident, rideable mare/gelding or stallion!
I am no professional and definitely not an expert but I have a passion for groundwork and horse training and hope that you find these videos helpful and if not, then maybe a form of entertainment, by watching a 'backing beginner' navigate the world of young horses!
If you want to join a long for the ride then please subscribe!

Really great idea, i always love watching the real life day to day ,its much more interesting than the finished polished picture and more reflective of what ordinary horse people who aren't professional experience and learn..its all about the journey. Best of luck,he is a lovely horse.😍

Hi, Great video, i have to start backing a 5yr old 16.2 TB gelding, Bentley. He has been an expensive field ornament for the last few years and has now been passed to me, to back and ride. He has unfortunately had no training at all, but is like a big friendly dog. How long was each training session and how often? FYI i have never ridden a horse before, so we will both be complete novices to ground work 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

Haven’t watched this yet but I can’t wait to, I bought a unhandled malnourished 2.2 year old back in May (the boy himself is in my pfp 🥺🤍) he’s my first ever horse that I have bought with my own money at 21 (I’m now 22) He wouldn’t even come to me at first didn’t know what love or affection was, wanted nothing to do with me at all, but with love, patience and time (he’s almost 2.7 years old at the end of the month of December 2023 (as I comment on this video) he’s the most trusting, cuddly and affectionate horse I have ever met. I can now put a head collar on him, I can go up to him without him running off (he actually comes to me now 🥺) he lets me groom him, pick up his feet (though still have a long bit to go with that) and I’ve even had a roller with a saddle pad on him and he didn’t even batter an eyelid at! It was even on 5 holes on each side, he’s just the most amazing boy that has completely come out of his shell. 🥺 we’ve got a long way to go, as I’m going to take my time with him, not going to rush him as we have all the time in the world. He’s just a people pleaser and I’m so happy with him I love him. 🥺🤍
