I have a theory for how the trick is done. Don't read if you don't want to know.
Notice how he looks at the card before pulling it out? I hypothesize this is because the sound of the sliding card (or lack thereof) is a sound cue for his brother. With the star, there are no sounds before he says "card". With the square, he slides it off the deck, slams it on the table, slides it off the table, then slams it back on the table before saying "card" (4 sounds). With the circle, he slides it off the deck before saying "card" (1 sound). With the wavy lines, he slides it off the deck, slams it on the table, then slides it off the table before saying "card" (3 sounds). Interestingly, at around 8:27, the brother guesses "wavy line" instead of "square". I have two guesses why: 1) the brother guessed before the sound cue had ended (before the other said "card"). 2) the brother purposefully slipped up because too much accuracy would reveal the trick.

And congratulations to your children too! They are very smart and talented kids!
Can I say that being a musician I kind of got the basics of the trick?😂 interesting!

They developed a system of sounds and time lengths to recognise the card that was taken from the deck.
ex: no sounds for the star card.
You can see this with the gestures being different for each type of card but still being repeated for a same kind.
Your kids are very smart with great memory and that's all what mentalism is about.
