Good video. Plowin looked good. We used a 4-16 John Deere plow on a 2940 in clay soil. It pulled it well. My I give you a suggestion? Get two 8x8 wood blocks. On for the front wheel one for the back. With the plow mounted pull the up land wheels on to the blocks on level ground. Do a preset with the plows level with the ground. Give it a try and see if it makes a difference. Too you may want to add colters. Good to slice through residue.
Great job with the camera angles Steve. This was fun to watch. That plow is working nice and going through that stubble like nothing. Your soil there is amazing. I think your plow days will be a big success. Take care, Annette🌺
Thank you Annette. The combination did work well together but I believe Oliver said their plows perform perfect using any tractor. I’m very happy with the dirt I have just wished I owned more😂
Thanks Rich. It’ll pass, I’ve seen much worse. Dad was a stickler for getting a plow right, I should have brought him over to tell me where I was screwing up 😂
Probably a good idea to practice a little and check on the adjustment of the plow before plow days. It was interesting to watch the fully mounted plow working. I have no experience with them. The last 25 years I've used only semi-mounted plows and before that I had a drag type plow. Nice combination of the 3020 and the Oliver plow. Thanks for taking us along.
Nice camera work. You probably took a gamble, placing the camera near the moldboards. Ha ha! Good luck during the plow days, if you make it, and have fun!
@@AnglesideFarm I think you will be alright. Keep in mind most of the other guys will never have mold board plows. A bit of experience goes a long way. When I plow with other guys my only goal is to follow the furrow, and try to lift the plow in line with the plow I follow.

Looks like you've got the Ol' Oliver plow setup about right for the most part. 👍🏻 Surprised that your Dad wasn't out there showing you how to setup the plow correctly. 😃 Yep, coating the mold boards of the plow with grease or paint is a must once the plowing is done. 👍🏻 Thanks for the ride along. @@AnglesideFarm Oh I'm sure he'd been telling you how you were doing it wrong. Yes, I'd been chuckling the whole time too. 😂 Setting up the tractor & plow probably would've been like riding a bicycle for him. 😁
Wow, there's quite the difference between your soil and mine. Mine is great for scouring bottoms. I've had enough plow days at my place to know that not everyone is worried as to what kind of plowing job their plow is doing. Part of it is a guy with a 12 inch bottom trying to fill the furrow of the 18 inch bottom in front of him. It's still neat to see all that soil getting turned at once. I wish I could make it over there, but it's one of those days with 10 things going on.
Another good video sir, I’ve had guys tell me that my JD 50 will pull 3x14 mounted plows and I have seen guys do it but here at my place there’s times that 2x16 work the guys out of it. My uncle had 3 bottoms for his 3010 and 3020 and pulled 4x16 with the 4010
Thanks Craig I’ve pulled a 2x14 behind my 50 but I’m not sure it could pull a 3 in this soil. I have a 4x16 semi mounted I bought for the 3020 and haven’t really tried it out yet but they say it would work fine.... Thanks for watching and commenting sir!
Nice ground you have there. The 3020 seems to handle the plow pretty good. I used to pull a 3/16 with a 4020, it had enough power, but it could easily spin out.
It seems to be a good match. Years ago when we were full time farmers I plowed with a 3020 and a 3-16 IH plow which also was a good match Thanks for watching
