Just to make it sure. The Horthy "regime" was not fascist by any means. There were several governments which powered different political alignments. Like for example the Gömbös government that wanted to form a Budapest-Rome-Vienna axis, isolating the ever expanding Germans. The Kállay government in 1943 was anglo-saxon aligned and wanted to withdraw from the war.
The only real fascist-like regime was the Szálasi arrow-cross council. But after he vowed in the parliament Horthy lost all of his power and in October 1944 the country fell into chaos.
Thats quite vague. The politics of Gömbös pretty much made it possible for Germany and Italy to influence Hungary as much as possible and his internal politics were just worse.
There is a reason he was called “Gömbölini” at the time
And to say the Horthy regime was not a regime is one of the worst opinions I heard. The way Horthy got into power was by literally coming out of retirement to coup a democratic government that just got rid of the Communists (had to get rid of something) and by that time his “National Army” has already committed the worst attrocities around Hungary such as killing political opponents and jews by hanging, burning alive and lynching after labelling them as communists. In one very frightening example Horthz’s army literally killed Jewish children by throwing them in wells. Today our Fundemental Law literally writes down this part of history as “Horthy bringing back order”.
Not to mention that almost none of these PM’s had any real power as all of them were puppets. If you bring up elections you might as well be an idiot as István Bethlen himself said they were rigged.
This was a literal bloodthirsty regime.
@@LachlanMacDonald44 Could you elaborate on with what internal and external politics did Gömbös gave influence to the Germans? Or the Italians? By prohibiting saxons and swabians to join or form Volksbunds because the government wanted to oppose a nazi gathering in Hungary? By establishing a fair trade system with Rome and Vienna to help the country find partners after the depression? I did not write that everything was as clean and peaceful in Hungary as it could have been between 1932. and 1936. There were strikes and reprivals after which many suffered like the Endrőd shootings. But you seem to compare this system to Stalin's or Hitler's which is nothing more than exaggerating.
During and after the communist republic era there were major terror groups. First the reds under the command of Tibor Szamuely and József Cserny. They killed more than 500 people mostly in the countryside. The other one was the era of the white terror which was conducted NOT by the regular National Army but the irregular forces of the Lajtabánság in the western reach led by Pál Prónay who also tortured and killed around the same numbers leading to an uprising. Unfortunately this group recieved amnesty. Also this "Horthy's army killed Jewish children and political opponents" is the top-notch de facto statement in the socialist era history books. The antisemitic attrocities in the 1920s were led by a former Hungarian officer Iván Héjjas who joined up with Prónay along with their group the Weary Garde. Again NOT part of the National Army. By 1921. these corps were forcefully dissolved.
The Horthy-system was not a regular totalitarian "regime". It was a heavily autocratic but not dictatorial system. The way Horthy got into power was after the fall of the communists in august of 1919. The country was in the state of despair. The Romanians and Czechs have invaded and the former even entered Budapest. The last democratic-like government under István Friedrich was pressured to resign because the Entente have made a pact with Horthy's National Army. Now until march of 1920. every government lasted for only a few MONTHS. Until Pál Teleki's first mandate (1920-21) Hungary was destabilized as hell. So yes, Horthy pretty much brought order back into the country because without the Entente reaching him out the nearby states would have partitioned the country while the reds and whites would have continued the massacres.
What do you mean by that no ministers had real power? Who's puppets, what?! Who's puppet was Teleki, Károlyi, Darányi, Kállay? Who decided instead of them? Horthy? XD The only ones I can mention are Béla Imrédy, Döme Sztójay and Szálasi who were all German puppets but the two latter's reign was after the German invasion. Don't generalize everyone.

Our country get destroyed and cut into smaller territorries many times in history, but we have always risen, so we cannot say for sure that the Kingdom of Hungary won't be reestablished soon...

I am Hungarian, and I an here to tell you that the situation is so bad, that the Ancap ending is the most probable in the future, which makes me extremely sad and hateful towards the Hungarian Government
