I will never forget I could never get passed Mono stage for months. I mastered this game up until that point. I got so made one day I rage reset and saw the 01010101 screen and though I broke my Genesis until the next stage unlocked. Forever one of my favorite games of all time.
Was the biggest bullcrap of my gaming life. I thought the game was just bugged and unbeatable until I read about the reset button as an adult. Made it to that computer room a million times as a kid, and the apocalypse ending for playing on easy didn't help the theory.
I never got passed that either after beating Mojo. I thought it had to be a specific X-Men to beat it so I cycled thru all of them 10x and even tried timing it as the screen coloured changed. It one of the most frustrating gaming events of my life.
I always used Nightcrawler on this level. Teleport through walls to the elevator. Wait until mutant power regenerates. Then face Apocalypse by using Nightcrawlers ability by just sitting there while he tries and hits you.
I used to have this game on the Sega Genesis I wish that I still had the game system and all the games that I had growing up back in the 1990's. I even had the game Shaq-Fu which I enjoyed playing. It was a hard game too just like the X-Men game shown in the video up above.
Great vid. Fun to watch the strats for no dmg especially w/out calling for help. GG! Question: Did you intentionally decide not to face Juggernaut again on the 3rd mission at the top of the house (the floor under Apocalypse)? Just curious.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding Juggernaut, yes, I intentionally decided not to face him again on the 3rd mission. I wanted to showcase a different strategy and focus on optimizing the no-damage run without additional boss battles.
The soundtrack on this game was always dope I swear the neptunes built their sound from this game .. classic sega. And yes sega was a better system then snes. Had way better games just lesser quality graphics
Wolverine should have no power over Magneto Not only should he be not selectable on this stage - but they should let you get to the end to only to be obliterated to learn your lesson.
What does apocalypse usually do? It seems like you’re faking a jump over him to get him to shoot straight up. If you weren’t doing that does he instead shoot a beam straight at you?
faking a jump in front of him to trigger his upward beam attack. By making him shoot upwards, the player can then move in and attack while he is recovering from the beam attack. If not baiting the upward beam, players should be prepared to dodge his horizontal beam. This can be done by timing jumps or ducking under the beam, depending on the player position and the attack’s height.
Straight up. No they should let you get to the end to only be obliterated immediately with the ending being Magneto saying how foolish it was to send The Wolverine.
I dont think I ever got past the mojo stage where you had to press the console's restart? button to continue the game. Im still mad at how silly that was. Back before you could look up how to get past a stage like that.
"Yeah, that part was so frustrating! I remember being stuck on that level for ages, too. It was such an unconventional puzzle, especially before the days of the internet where you could easily look up a solution. It's crazy to think about how many people had to figure that out on their own. Definitely one of the most memorable (and maddening) parts of the game.
This is not the way, I remember the fight and I played this game to death. Immediately after powering up he walks up and strikes you. Easiest way to defeat him was to use Nightcrawler and teleport on the spot whenever he attacked. Weird video, almost looks like a hack
No, that's not Scarlet Witch. The character after Sinister in the game is the Goblin Queen, also known as Madelyne Pryor. She's connected to Mr. Sinister in the comics.
satellite sends a binary message that translates to "RESET THE COMPUTER." The game requires the player to physically press the reset button on console.
I miss being a kid. Playing games that you could never beat and not care at all.
I’ll never forget the sound effects from this game alone!

Same here. My siblings thought we hacked the system 😂

100 .
I'm finding this out now... I never got passed mojos stupid screens!
I never got passed that either after beating Mojo. I thought it had to be a specific X-Men to beat it so I cycled thru all of them 10x and even tried timing it as the screen coloured changed. It one of the most frustrating gaming events of my life.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a technique to beat apocalypse without taking damage. Great job!
Thanks 👍
I always used Nightcrawler on this level. Teleport through walls to the elevator. Wait until mutant power regenerates. Then face Apocalypse by using Nightcrawlers ability by just sitting there while he tries and hits you.
So nostalgic! This and Vectorman we're my go to games in my younger days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane bro!
Glad you enjoyed!
1 of the hardest games imaginable along with maximum carnage 😂
In my opinion Maximum Carnage was easy AF compared to this
@@ljavwa3459totally agree. Beat maximum carnage on my first few tries. Never came close to beating this
No lies spoken
Great X-Men game bro. This is one of Genesis Gem ❤❤❤
Thanks bro 👍
I dunno, I was a X-fan and thought it kinda sucked! I owned it and always wished I had Clone Wars.
@@jamesrutherford1475this came out way before clone wars. So if you were an X-Men fan this game already won you over
I used to have this game on the Sega Genesis
I wish that I still had the game system and all the games that I had growing up back in the 1990's.
I even had the game Shaq-Fu which I enjoyed playing.

Steamdeck
I remember defeating Apocalypse really effectively with nightcrawler. Think I held A to maintain the pink teleport stance when he comes over.
All the characters where great but for this game and clone wars it was always Wolverine and Nightcrawler for me.
S'funny, I remember beating Magneto with Wolverine, too. Looking back, that should have been a death sentence 😂
It almost was in the comics. Magneto actually pulled out all the adamantium in his body. Almost killed him …
@silver6214 Yeah, that was quite the scene. "Fatal Attractions" indeed, lol.
The nostalgia is strong with this game. Brings me back to being a young kid.
I never knew what exactly triggered Juggernaut to run off. I would just jump slash with wolverine until he did.
Great vid. Fun to watch the strats for no dmg especially w/out calling for help. GG!

Sabertooth was taking notes during the Wolverine v. Juggernaut fight.
For as much as I played this game, I don't ever think I beat it. It was around the same time I learned how to ride my bike lol
All the characters are great but for this game and clone wars it was always Wolverine and Nightcrawler for me.
I remember playing this as a kid, this game was hard
Hard to describe how mind blowing these graphics were for the time
I remember as kid this game was tough x2 was great game
when this first hit, i was playing it heavy, once 2 came out, forgot all about it😁
Yeh Clone Wars is legendary!👊🏾
Nicely done. 😎
Thanks! 👍
The soundtrack on this game was always dope I swear the neptunes built their sound from this game .. classic sega. And yes sega was a better system then snes. Had way better games just lesser quality graphics
I remember being a kid and going absolutely nuts when I saw the commercials for this game🤣
I remember using the assists from: Archangel, Rogue, & Storm during the boss fights. Really struggled with Apocalypse though.
Never noticed Nightcrawler is missing. Poor guy.
I could never get passed mono thank you 🙏 I’ve finally seen the ending I rage quit this game many times
😁👍
I always used iceman on sabertooth and juggernaut. So i didn't have to fight them.
And once again Wolverine defeats Magneto handedly, just as he always does in the comic books.
😁👍
Ever wonder why the xmen game didn't have the same intro as the cartoon?
I remember this game..wolverine was the best character
Who played and beat this challenging gem, tho? I'mma wait.🤣.
I love how Gambit can beat Apocalypse.
I remember renting this for (Sega Genesis). I don't even remember how far I made it...😅
Wolverine should have no power over Magneto
Not only should he be not selectable on this stage - but they should let you get to the end to only to be obliterated to learn your lesson.
😁👍
These bosses were a game of tag.
This soundtrack is so fucking banging. Unforgettable really.

I still play this game
me too on my phone, almost every day
Wolverine fighting against Magneto. Realistically, shouldn't that fight be over in two seconds?
😁👍
Eu joguei esse jogo ,na minha infância, era difícil de mais , uns dos jogos mais difíceis que joguei.
I know it's just a game but Wolverine against magneto shouldn't even be an option
😁👍
Straight up.
No they should let you get to the end to only be obliterated immediately with the ending being Magneto saying how foolish it was to send The Wolverine.
I always thought it sounded like a toilet flushing when the bosses died 😆
😁👍
This game is fucking amazing!!
ok u memorized the patterns. yawn. try beating a boss with no pattern.
I'll try a no pattern challenge next time for an added twist. Thanks for the suggestion!

Incredibly hard game.
I beat it beat it only once normally.
The reset using save states.
Oh me! I see why Nintendo beat sega
Yeah, I'm a Sega guy and even I think this game sucks.
As if Wolverine could ever defeat Magneto.
Apocalypse isnt even a fight. He doesnt actually strike, just hopes you jump into his power up
This is not the way, I remember the fight and I played this game to death. Immediately after powering up he walks up and strikes you.

That Apoc fight was weak AF though
Is that Scarlet Witch after Sinister?
No, that's not Scarlet Witch. The character after Sinister in the game is the Goblin Queen, also known as Madelyne Pryor. She's connected to Mr. Sinister in the comics.
that satellite is clearly sending a message in binary...anybody know what it says???
satellite sends a binary message that translates to "RESET THE COMPUTER." The game requires the player to physically press the reset button on console.
Who's the second boss?
Zaladane
Zaladane
No damage huh? 6:18
Feed me more 'memberberries plz
😄 I'll be sure to serve up more nostalgia with every playthrough. Stay tuned for more retro goodness!
Hundreds of hours playing this game
This game made me so angry when I played it. No matter what I did, I could never seem to get past the first level. Man I sucked at this game.
