    I haven't had experience with corms, but I recently saw a video where an Oxalis had its corms broken up to make more plants. The piece you have left is large, so I think you'll be okay if it works the same. Hope the rest of you day went better 🫂

    "Geophyte" is the word you are looking for.
    Plants, that overwinter using underground organs. The same is true for Orchis, Anacamptis, Cypripedium, Neottia, Cephalanthera, and pretty much all the temperate orchids.

    In my experience, not with habenarias but with other corm plants, the broken corm should live just fine!

    It looks like you have enough of the corm left for the orchid to grow. I might worry about rot on the broken ends but still keeping them dry should help to harden of a bit.

    I've grown a few Habenarias, and they do just fine in a loose soil mixture. (Dry soil is easier to work with than dry moss!) They don't have to be repotted each year either. If the clump looks like it's getting too big for the pot, I put it in a bigger pot with more soil. Also, as soon as I see growth I put them in a dish with water, kind of like some people do with Bulbophyllums.

    Danni thank you for this video! I don't have habenarias but I love you. The way you handled that situation is great bc I am not so emotionally level as that and I'm sure I would've been in a bad mood all day. Thank you for inspiring me to be better and to handle things more gracefully ❤

    Hi Dani, I think both corms will grow there is enough of the corm remaining to keep the new shoot growing and produce roots. Yes for sure I have days that I wish were on vacation, but then some nice person says something wonderful and I feel better. Love your repots. 😊❤

    Do you have any experience with the DOOA Terra Base? I’ve been seeing things about it and that you can grow small orchids on it! I’d love to give it a try but I can’t find any videos of orchid growers using it!

    So I reported my orchard a week ago. Many roots were bad and I cut them, I had about 2 long and 4 short surface roots left. Now a week after two top leaves are drooping and feel leathery, as do the bottom leaves. The 2 middle leaves feel ok. Is this anything I should be worried about and is there something I need or could do to get the leaves a bit more firm?

    Hi Danny, my boyfriend got me a phalaenopsis orchid for my birthday that I chose out, but because it came from a garden centre, is a no ID and also my first orchid I’m a little confused. I apologise if this is a silly question, but how can you tell if you’ve bought a mini phalaenopsis or a “regular” one but has stunted growth? As it’s my first one I’m not sure if it’s something I’m doing or whether it’s actually a mini, I’ve noticed your big phals have super wide leaves but mine looks more like your minis. Apologies for the super long question, and many thanks in advance ❤

    • @aureasmortem
      @aureasmortem 3 месяца назад

      If the leaves are 5inches long or shorter it's a mini. If bigger than 6 inches it's a full-size

    • @Sugarberrybunny
      @Sugarberrybunny 3 месяца назад

      @@aureasmortem ah okay thanks very much for your answer. I just measured and my biggest leaf is 7inches and the smaller ones are just over 5, so I guess it’s a full size after all. Now I just have to figure out what I’m doing wrong with it -.-

    • @aureasmortem
      @aureasmortem 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Sugarberrybunny as long as you give it consistent care via watering and fertilizing it will eventually fill out! Usually the orchids you buy from a store are on their first bloom meaning that they still have room to get bigger as they mature. Danni has had a lot of her orchids for years so they're reaching their max size. As long as it looks healthy it's likely fine. Good luck with your orchids!

    • @Sugarberrybunny
      @Sugarberrybunny 3 месяца назад +1

      @@aureasmortem that makes complete sense, thanks so much for your help ^^

    • @Sugarberrybunny
      @Sugarberrybunny 3 месяца назад

      @@aureasmortem I thought I’d give a little update, I hope it’s not a bother. I’ve realised what the issue was, my orchid has been sitting under my monstera for nearly six months now, and of course my monstera drips like rainfall each morning…I can’t believe I never thought about it. But I’ve now moved it, and bought myself another orchid today (not giving up on my other one of course, it only lost one leaf so I’ll keep trying). I’ll get them both to re bloom this autumn, I’m determined 😤
