"Cheap fake" it's like a 'Deep fake', but cheaper since it is real and no potentially pricey tinkering is required.
Not only that, "Deep fake" can be considered a legal slander and can be addressed with legal action. I'm sure someone told her that when she left the podium
It's a simplistic but clever term. It lets them imply that a video is computer generated but is computer generated poorly so that you immediately distrust and dismiss it but doesn't outright claim that it is a real CG "deepfake" so, when it's proven to be an accurate, unedited video, they can claim innocence. CBS went one further and (from the looks of the quality) digitally lowered the resolution of the video so that they could truthfully claim it was "digitally altered" which instantly makes people think it's CG. Not that it was digitally altered to be uglier.

I saw that in the debate. The only time he "blinked" was when he did a scoff sound and closed his eyes after Trump spoke
I think it’s because those are times his mind “shuts off” in response to having just experienced (for him) a “cognitive overload” of information. His reduced brain function (due to dementia) couldn’t keep up with the rate of cognitive and environmental stimuli hitting him all at once and so, as a defense mechanism, his brain does its version of “temporarily closing up shop”. And so I think the “blank stare” with reduced blinking (or the absence of blinking) is just a reflection of his blank state of mind during those times.

I'm a VFX artist, it's our job to look what's wrong with footage, and from experience I can tell you that the general public even when AI manipulated footage is well done, the average person still notices even without a trained eye, the fact a news organising is peddling a lie as blatant as this and not getting sued for it or enough backlash is pretty worrying

Meanwhile wars have been fought over less than that which we deal with today, yet not nearly enough people are motivated to act.
The people do not have adequate representation in our government anymore, ever since the world wars and all the three letter organizations of unelected powers came into place. The elites have representation, the corporations do, and even foreign governments (or undocumented populations) moreso than our own every-day citizens who are less and less sure that any of their candidates represent them.
In short we all need to touch grass and have these conversations with our local communities, mobilizing resources to support your cause where you can, because the fight for the future of the real world cannot happen solely online. The less people have to lose, the less the usual distractions work on them, and eventually their exploitation of the general public will come to a head.

@Wheeler63 , I lost my Dad when I was, 21/22, then a man I worked with who became like a second Dad, then my Pops in 2019 and my beloved Mother near the end of 2022 after I took care of her the last 4 yrs of her life.... I bought my Dad a guitar about a year before he passed. He actually loved picking it up again as he had one in his high school years where he played in a band with friends but had sold it at one point. I don't "read" music but played the keyboard with him whilst he strummed along. But yes as we "learn new things" in fact, our brains tend to form "new connections" so as much as "exercise for our bodies" is important, so it is for our minds!
