However then Viktor would never attain the power to go back in time and save Jayce, so the only answer is Jayce dies, Vi lives, and Viktor eventually dies to disease in the best timeline.

Probably not a bad timeline. Most likely, due to Jayce, an impossible timeline. I get the impression there isn’t a single universe, in which Jayce isn’t going to make some terrible decisions trying not to lose Vicktor

Any change that brings strife, or brings a creature closer to death, isn't evolution but that creature devolving.
