Some people tease Canada about the beaver as our national animal. The Beaver was what sustained Canada in the early days: through the lucrative fur trade, their pelts also clothed early settlers and kept them warm through our unforgiving winters. They are the hardest working and most industrious of any Canadian animal. Eagle versus Beaver……Eagles have wickedly sharp beaks and talons, but I’d put my money on the beaver. They might look cute and cuddly but they can more than hold their own in a fight. Let’s face it! Do you want to mess with an animal, whose teeth can topple huge trees?

When I was watching you fixate on the land area values and was confused about the country size rankings and the fact that the US land area is bigger in my head I am screaming "READ THE NEXT LINE" which was the inland water values. A country's size is a function of the area inside its border whether it is land or water. Since Canada has more inland lake area we have less land area in side our border but are still a larger country.

Hi Tyler ~ I just wanted to mention that our Canadian Armed Forces are often deployed for “Peace Keeping” (We are often referred to and known as the Peace Keepers within NATO and internationally) and for our Humanitarian missions and efforts during war and Peace Time. Obviously, we go to war whenever our NATO Allies do. But, something most people aren’t aware of is that over 22% of our Forces are actually highly “specialized”. Our special forces is comparative to your Navy Seals, Rangers, etc. Another fact most people are unaware of is that our highest Specialized Forces called “JTF2” is the ONLY foreign special operation unit to be conducted into the American Tier 1 ranking forces (JTF2 is deployed and incorporated into missions with Delta and Seal Team 6…I’m sure you are well aware of these 2). Many of the American TV stations have posted multiple videos often mistaking JTF2 as American forces - such was the case when JTF2 landed in the US after capturing top ISIS and Taliban terrorists. It was funny to see the Canadian flag on their sleeves, as reporters stated the specialized soldiers as American! Of course, we won’t make a fuss about it, and our forces are so well incorporated into Delta and Seal Team 6 that the commanding officer considers them the best soldiers he’s ever commanded…such a kind and wonderful recognition! Our JTF2 team received a special metal and honors for capturing the ISIS terrorists and other missions they conducted while serving under the commander. Our forces work well together, as we have had a very long history of doing so. Whenever the US needs Peace Keeping, Intelligence Gathering, Medical assistance, Humanitarian Relief, and other specialized requirements - we “quietly” deploy and contribute. We are frequently called in whenever there are rescue missions of American troops, as well as, other NATO Allie’s. JTF2 and the other specialized forces conduct a vast array of “anti-terrorist” missions both home and abroad. Obviously, you do a great job militarily - being the #1 - the majority of other countries are extremely jealous and envious!
Something the international community is unaware of is that whenever Americans were surprised and surrounded by massive ISIS terrorists in Afghanistan, our soldiers would go in to help save the lives of our American friends and eliminate the enemy. Because we have been so integrated in previous battles, our forces work extremely well together.
You also mentioned taking the American Military Budget and spending it on healthcare, homeless, low income individuals, and many other humanitarian and social programs. I agree with YOU 100%!!!!! That’s exactly what Canada chooses to do financially, instead of spending extraordinary coppers on the military. That being said, with the recent war in Ukraine, we increased our military budget significantly. Our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with President Biden and the combined Canadian & American military staff of NORAD. We were asked to significantly increase our financial contributions to the Military Arctic Program for NORAD - now - and for the next 10 years! Its efforts are to ensure security over the Arctic - as the war on Ukraine and Russian aggression overall causes for considerable concern over Arctic sovereignty! Russia still argues with both our countries over the maritime boundaries. I know you are now aware that we have the largest maritime Boundary in the world, and Russia is constantly disrespectful of the offshore border with Canada and America.
Russia often pushes its limits…constantly testing our tolerance by flying over our combined Arctic missions in an attempt to gather intel. And like a petulant child throwing a temper tantrum, they try to be as big of a nuisance as possible, by sending bombers to SPY on us. This does not go unnoticed nor unchecked, and each time are “escorted” by fighter pilots out of our borders. They also push their limits when crossing over our Maritime Borders - especially in the Arctic, thus calling on our Navies. They also do this to the UK - who respond in a similar fashion. Therefore, it’s helpful that our militaries conduct many biennial training operations in the Arctic with the British.
As a NATO ally, we also conduct missions in concert with other European countries, such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc., on a regular basis…both with the US and separately.
Thanks again for another entertaining and educational video! Have an awesome day!!

They are allowed to fly over our bases. Or at least they were allowed before the ukrainian invasion. I've personally seen their planes. I lived beside Base Borden/Angus most of my life. Angus is the town connected to the base. Also this is a NORAD base. They get and waste enough money as it is. They don't need more. Usa's military budget has gone up 150 billion since trump. I'm sure they can afford any upgrades.

@@jamesjazwinski4412 Hi James ~ The Russians have been a problem for Canada, the UK, and US since modern day warfare has more or less been around. Prior to the war, they would dart in and out of Norway and other nearby NATO countries, but mostly it was our 3 countries they mainly targeted!
TECHNICALLY, they are not suppose to enter OUR borders…period!
NATO countries are more assertive in protecting borders…however…no one wanted to be responsible as the 1st country to escalate tensions, as you never know where it may lead! Seldom has anything other than “escorting” them via fighter jets out of one’s border. Russia pushed the limits hard, especially whenever the 3 countries met to conduct military exercises! I saw Canada, the UK, and the US all escort them during secret missions in the Arctic. But within a matter of weeks, they would be attempting to spy all over again…using their BOMBERS no less!
I was watching a couple of secret Arctic exercises conducted by the combined efforts of Canada, the UK, and the US - 2 nights ago, and I must say, the response by Canadian and American Air Force was swift and very aggressive. You could certainly tell they were extremely angry!
Apparently, the 3 countries conduct these exercises biennially - which drives Russia crazy! But, it’s getting more difficult to keep things secretive with the wide use of satellites. During exercises, it is easier than ever for opposing countries to see whenever the other(s) is/are conducting “secretive” missions…as was the case when Russia invaded Ukraine.
Nuclear submarines, stealth bombers/jets are usually only seen when they want you to. So, we still have some element of surprise. But, that that goes for BOTH sides.
I have only driven by BORDEN, and through Angus in a number of occasions. But, like a number of Canadians, I had an uncle stationed at CFB Borden.
      Are you still in Ontario?
I have lived in Edmonton just over a decade now. We often have the soldiers from the base north of us (similar to Angus/Borden) come into town. A few days ago, an Air Force helicopter was flying so low, it literally shook the dishes in my cupboards…what a ROAR it made! The helicopter was flying on an angle - tipped to one side…so close to the ground, I thought it was going to crash in the field next to me. Never experienced that before.
You are correct…Russia can no longer cross our borders, as it’s now considered a declaration of war. Prior to the war in Ukraine, domestic flights were permitted in our space upon notification. But, military vessels were always to keep to their side of the border. But, Russia had to push its weight around. Well - it was more that Putin and his buddies wanted NATO and the west to know he was a force to be reckoned with. Obviously, anyone with advanced NUCLEAR weapons isn’t someone/nation to ignore!!!
As for NORAD…the US definitely has far more in their military budget to spend on defense! Our economy isn’t near as large as theirs. Our GDP is a 1/10 of theirs - hence they can spend more. Trouble is - when you live adjoined to a nation like America - which controls the global skies, land, and sea…and their economy is both the largest in the world, and tied to ours in a big way,, due to our import/export policy with them…it’s extremely difficult for Canada not to combine efforts with the US for defense. Because we are geographically positioned next to them, it makes us a TARGET. Russia, China, and any other aggressive country would have to target us, so as to make it easier to attack the US on any and all sides. It definitely positions us in a very precarious place!
The US contributed more to the recent NORAD investment than we did. They have no choice, but to invest heavily into Arctic sovereignty and defense, as they are “Enemy #1” according to Russia, North Korea, China, etc. However, I think Canada has a different philosophy and approach to dealing with other countries - be they friend or foe. It is also why we are asked by NATO and non-member NATO states to be the Peace Keepers, Emergency Medical, and Humanitarian forces to enter a country, simply because we are always the ones negotiating for countries like the US, Cuba, Korea, etc. Personally, I would rather be known to be a negotiator than an aggressor. That being said, having family in the military, and 2 grandfathers and family members who fought in WWII. So, I understand why a country or group of people would want to defend themselves, or those who are unable to. Such was the case for my Polish grandfather once he chose to fight Nazi Germany. After witnessing the horrors that were brutally inflicted on the Jews within Poland, our grandfather could not stand by in good conscience and watch innocent men, women, and children be assaulted, abused, tortured, and slaughtered! He was the only one in his family to actively oppose the Nazis by fighting. His family chose to fight through other passive and non-aggressive means. Grandpa shared very little about the war. It was through other family members that we learned his contribution to the war efforts. Like many War Vets, the war left lasting effects on our grandfather, so I completely understood his reluctance to relive such hell! Our grandfather was extremely fortunate to escape the concentration camps 3 times! I only know of 1 of his heroine escapes from the Nazis. I am ever GRATEFUL he made it to Canada!
I h wish you and your Love Ones a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!☃🎄🇨🇦🎄☃

When a law is passed in Canada it goes through the parliment first, then the senate, then finally the Governer General who represents the crown (King Charles) gives it "Royal Ascent", all laws in Canada can be rejected or passed by the Monarchy. @@kevinprzy4539 Wait times in Canada are based on the severity of the situation. So if you go into an emergency room for a broken toe and it's very busy, then you are going to wait a bit. If you go in because of a heart attack then you are going to be treated right away. The same is true of surgeries etc. People complaining of long wait times in the Canadian healthcare system are usually people who don't have serious, life threatening issues.
With regards to your comment about the equipment being worse, please provide some evidence for your claim. According to a recent ranking by Newsweek, a hospital in Toronto Canada was ranked as the 4th best hospital in the world and Canada had 3 hospitals in the top 50. As you mentioned, Canada is not exactly a huge country when measured by population so I fail to see how it is possible for such a small population to have 3 of the top 50 best hospitals in the world if their equipment isn't nearly as good or new.
As far as efficiency is concerned, you are literally the first person I have ever heard try to claim that the US healthcare system is in any way efficient, let alone more efficient than the Canadian one. In fact a study by the US Government National Library of Medicine ranked the Canadian system as either the most efficient or one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world, depending on how efficiency was calculated. Once again, please provide some evidence for your claim because when I search, everything I can find points to the US healthcare system being one of the least efficient systems in the developed world.
I'm not going to try and pretend that the Canadian healthcare system is perfect and doesn't have any problems because that is simply not the case. I do however believe that all the evidence does point to it being better and more efficient than the US system.

This video is ancient history by now. Julie Payette is no longer the Governor-General (usually abbreviated as "GG"). She was forced to resign due to unprofessional conduct, and nearly ended up officially fired. It's a shame, because it was nice to have an astronaut as the GG, and she used part of her time in office to advocate for women and girls going into science and science-related careers.
Our current GG, Mary Simon, did not speak French (not sure how much she's learned yet) - yet French is a requirement for the job. Lately Mary Simon shrugged off vandalism of a statue of Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch she was supposed to represent while the Queen was alive. This shows her utter contempt for the monarchy, and is therefore unsuitable for the job.
There is no set term to be Prime Minister. Elections are technically held every 4 years, though they often happen sooner if the government falls on a non-confidence vote or if the Prime Minister just decides to call one. As long as the Prime Minister can keep his position as leader of his party, keep winning his seat in Parliament (the Prime Minister is also an MP who represents his riding; in Justin Trudeau's case he represents the riding of Papineau), and his party keeps winning federal elections, he gets to remain Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau has been the PM since 2015, and does not have to call another election until 2025.

1:30 No we don't think about the National emblem
5:00 Technically we are. The head of state is the Governor General, who is appointed by the King/Queen of England under advice from our Prime Minister. Although, they are basically just there to rubber stamp things, technically they do have the power to overturn any new laws passed by the Canadian Government. This happened most recently in 1961, and hadn't happened before then since 1937
8:10 Yes, the Prime Minister is the head of the party which wins the most "Ridings". Like the US, Canada will have several Ridings within each province, but unlike the US, each Riding is a vote for the party. So we don't see who has more Ridings per a province, and declare that province won by a specific party like the electoral college voting. A province can have 20 votes for the Liberals, and 20 votes for the Conservatives, etc.
9:00 Thank you for protecting us lol
15:00 Don't ask me what the difference between white and European is, but yes, a lot of Asian immigrants, especially on the west coast
17:21 Canadian Dollar is only worth 74¢ American at the date of this video
18:37 Yes, all the Commonwealth countries will have to decide if we are going to use King Charles' ugly mug on our bills and coins, or if we want to move away from using Monarchs on our currency. Queen Elizabeth II will no longer be made on new bills, that is until we changed the manufacturing process which includes her face... Which will be done soon
23:27 Yes, the beaver is our National Animal. If you look at a Canadian Nickel, one side is the Queen's head (currently) and the other side is a beaver. This was all about the fur trade dating back to the late 1600's. As a matter of fact, The Hudson's Bay Company, which started in beaver pelt trading, is the oldest company in North America, over 350 years old, and is still going today. Without researching, I can tell you that there are many American brands under this parent company, but I can't list any American ones, only Canadian ones.
26:23 I don't know who David Thomson is, but you put a "p" in the search lol

Hi Tyler. Thanks for sharing another great video. I have a few observations or comments....
    1. Canada IS bigger in area than the USA.
    2. Why do
USA public schools seem to differ or struggle so much in comparison when such a similar percentage of GDP is spent on education between the two countries?
    3. I believe I recall learning that more male embryos are conceived; more females survive to adulthood. (And in life, women are more prone to chronic health concerns while more men succumb earlier to fatal conditions?)
    4. You missed mentioning THIS at all, but HOLY GUACAMOLE... The USA spends so much *MORE* of its GDP on HEALTH CARE than Canada does, yet not everyone there even HAS coverage, AND you all have to pay so much even on top of your health insurance costs? I guess that makes some sense when you consider that all that spending also has to cover the PROFITS for medical establishment shareholders, and myriad health insurance companies' wages, profits, etc that consist of a whole extra layer to the US health care system, Whereas our health care funding pretty much just goes to the actual provision of health care itself .... But wow...I'd heard that USAmericans pay 'as much' of their 'taxes' on health cate as we do in Canada... I didn't realize you pay closer to twice as much!!! (I think your slide indicated you pay 17-18% of GDP whereas we pay almost 11% of our GDP)

Canada's military mostly just goes to help other countries that are fighting. Often if the USA goes to war with someone, we send out people to go help. We feel safe even with a smaller military, we have more friends and less enemies. Only two countries dislike us. If someone was to go to war with Canada, we would have help and support from most other countries. That's the real threat. It's not what we can do that scares people, it's how many friends we have and what they can all do when fighting together that should scare people. Think about it, if another country tried to go to war with Canada the USA, England, and France would probably be the first countries to come to our aid. It's pretty helpful for us to have trigger happy neighbors with a large Arsenal.
It's kinda funny, we have such a good relationship with the USA, we are physically close as well. No would dare touch the friendly friend of the country with the largest military.

Just looking at the map, eliminating Hudson Bay, would be a big deal, Also we have 2-3 million lakes as well. Another interesting thing is that the U S is listed as third largest country, where in some surveys China is listed as third and the U.S. as fourth. Unlike the US where a president is limited to a total of two terms ( eight years ) in office: our system doesn’t have terms. The Prime Minister can be in power indefinitely, as long as his party is always re-elected and they continue to have confidence in him. Mackenzie King was our longest serving PM……21 years.

One thing that should be understood in order to understand what is meant by a "parliamentary" system of government is that in order to be prime minister one must be a current member of the house of commons, and in order to be a member of the cabinet one must be a current member of either the house of commons or the senate. (Names vary from one country to another, so in the UK substitute "house of lords" for "senate" and in Australia substitute "house of representatives" for "house of commons".) And in Canada, the U.S.A., Britain, and others, the cabinet does not merely consist of "advisors" to the head of government (as one often hears) but of heads of departments or ministries of the government. And as for "no definite term", one should understand that the house of commons can remove the prime minister from office whenever they decide they'd rather have someone else.

Great Britain had the most found lands and discovered for the Monarchy so the national emblem has a bit of the monarchy represented in it.
. Whether you like it or not - the original Red, White&Blue is the British Flag...as it was created several hundred years before the discovery of N.A.. The U.S., when they broke away from the TEA DRINKERS, did not quite become independent. They rearranged the Red, White & Blue but kept the 3 colors.(didn't choose purple or chartruse(yellow-green) or other color. The U.S. also kept the weights and measures close to the same...the smallest unit is the fluid oz., 8 oz in a cup (4 cups in a quart or 32oz- 4 qts in 1 gallon - - -UK had 5 cups in a quart or 40oz (4 qts in a gallon or 160oz) Sure your car has a bigger gas tank when you measure by the gallon NUMBER but when you use the Imperial gallon the tank holds less gas when "measured by the pump bowser" Miles you kept, 5280 feet.
Your temperature, you use the Fahrenheit scale which the British used.
      Weights are still in pounds=16oz
The U.S. uses the "English language"

No set terms means that we don't set term limits on how long one person can lead the nation for like in the States with 2 terms. Stephen Harper, for example, was the Prime Minister of Canada for 9 years before both he, and the party he was head of, the Conservatives, were voted out of power.
The prime minister dooesn't always have to be the majority party in control to become prime minister. A lot of times we can have a minority government in control where the prime minister, and their party, have to negotiate, and co-operate with other parties, and those co-operations are what create the power to run the government. Often times, a minority government is the best thing to happen to the citizens of Canada, because it forces the 4 major political parties to find common ground and comprimises to get things done that often times greatly benefits the nation as a whole. For examples, Canadian universal healthcare, student loans, and the Canadian Pension Plan were created in the 1960s by the Liberals headed by Lester. B. Pearson, which was a miniority government. In four years the two minority parliaments of L.B. Pearson’s government nevertheless transformed Canada. It did more than any, except perhaps Wilfrid Laurier’s, which added rapid population of the Prairies by immigration to John A. Macdonald’s original national policy of tariffs and the railroad.
