- Spring Fling at the NOC was a blast! I finally got my pfd on the Upper Nantahala. Somehow, I never paddled this stretch of river. While it is almost unbelievable, I just never got on this stretch. A few years ago during P5's first season, it was suggested to me that I take him there. I had never done that river and at the time, my policy was to never take him on a river I didnt know myself. I believe it was that right approach and we passed that day. Fast forward 4 years, he is a phenomenal paddler now and quite capable of handling himself. This frees up a lot of options in river selection. Running PFD's together now is not a big deal. We finally made it back here. His skill level is well beyond this run and that made this day simply a joy to paddle. Come along for a look at a fabulous run on the Upper Nantahala!

It’s got to be nice, not having to worry if P5 is ok but knowing he’s a strong paddler. Able to relax and just enjoy it with him .

I missed the upper nat at week of rivers when they first did release years back. I busted my elbow at table saw and got infected , had to leave and missed it… regret.

So what type if water is the first yellow boat for? Why did you get it etc. Its great to have fun times with your son, your lucky.
That is a whitewater boat with a sealed stern compartment and top hatch. It is for full on whitewater expeditions...when they came out, they piqued my interest and I have always wanted one.
Did my first river run yesterday down the Hiawassee River but I want to be better at kayaking and understand more about paddling and make some new buddies to kayak with. Anyone in the Hiawassee GA area?

It has a sealed stern compartment and a hatch...good for camping out of.
