Both phenomenal.
well, I can understand why they scored Morais higher, since he had more flow and chose bigger and better waves, but I can't agree with it. John had some problems with wave choice, but his surfing was much more risky, exciting and unpredictable, and he put everything into each and every turn. so yeah, I don't think the judges were corrupt, but I think they almost never give John John the full credit for what he does.
Yeah.. I want to see you drift that tail in a wave that size with the heat ending and not lose speed and put more 3 super strong turns in the same wave..

That last wave of Morais was over scored. Florence showed more variety throughout the heat.

the other AZIA (HEARTBURN) ; when the underdog wins head of your favorite , there was champions on the beach and they applauded the surf of Morais , but this is youtube a very good place for Marias Madalenas

Evan Charles jjf's 9 wasn't well deserved and fred's last wave wasn't a 10 too but it was at least a 9 so don't cry too much ok?
I like Frederico but that was never a 10, if it was 300 other waves other surfers surfed all week were 10's too.. sort your system out judges please ffs..

Frederico's 9.77 was a full point better than his 10. John Johns 9.57 was at least as good as Freddys 9.77, but his last wave was easily easily better than fred's last wave so John wins this heat
I know Pete Mel isn't in on the rigging. He realized it, though, when they gave out that 10. Reactions to the scoring edited out of this video, oddly. lol.

guys talking about the 10 point ride of frederico but i don´t see them talking about the first 9 of jonh jonh... what a fuck was that? the only critical manouvers were the last too, was much more overscored that the 10 of frederico because you have to look too for the first turn (the best turn I've ever seen from him in this event) , critical as fuck, the sise of the wave, the pressure ( 2 minutes to go)... I love jonh jonh but it was well deserved

Wow what a heat !!
One thing you can never see from the replay or camera is how far the spray squirts up into the air (goes above camera, or moves out of camera almost every big turn). I'll give the judges the benefit of the doubt. Maybe, watching these waves reel down the point and getting to see Fred's Vs. John's, Fred won. But not in this replay. John wins if the judges watch this replay.

As a neutral ( South African) I preferred JJF - he just puts more into each turn. Well done to Frederico though he did surf well ( although a little bit of a flappy style at times)

I'm bummed the American didn't win this heat, but both competitors surfed really well and the waves looked amazing.

I gave up on the judge panel a long time,tried to understand their criteria on my own and on Pierow words. Ever since Americans took over the league,what was not good became worse and clear all business. They help Boures over Italo cause Tahiti is next,gave Frederico a win because Europe and Portugal will come soon. He is a good surfer and deserve to be on tour,but what they did was a real shame. Now i was called a bunch of names by most of you guys, when wrote the same with Medina at Trestles last year, and the final on Pipe against Julian . Tahiti past year against JJ got angry but was to close and thought would be wrong to write. The true is, we are not the only one cry babies on earth,I am pissed off just like you all on that one

well i have to say that JJ gives tailsliding each time making more radical his maneuvers, layback snap making more risky and hanging for tubes. Frederico its a good surfer but very conservative on each time. He will do big but lacks that critical edgy thing like more loose, sliding more the tail off and perhaps showing some aerials.

Fred didn't look as powerful or smooth as JJ. Isn't power and flow two of the criteria?
The only explanation is that the judges want it to come down to Pipe.

Talvez o JJ não tenha ganhado a bateria, más 10 o Frederico não mereceu naquela onda, no máximo 8,5. Eu estava torcendo para o Kikas, mas queria que ele ganhasse no surf e não desta forma esquisita.

Everytime someone claims with time winding down they get the score. This was some bullshit.

John won that Heat... The aussie Judging Cartel cant stomach the idea of JJF winning more titles, and becoming another Kelly.
Not sure about the aussie bashing. How many aussies have won a world title this century? Like... 2? Hmmm. Aussies have dominated the ranks making up more than 40% most years. 2/17 1st places though. You may want to check your stats there mate.
The event has been overscored for the majority of the competition, need to lower their standards so that the other surf has a chance

Problem is they always start too high a score with JJF and other favs. There seems to be 2 different sets of rules regarding setting the depending on who the surfer is. JJF 's 9.5 was twice as good as his 9 and not as good as fred's first wave. Either way fred was clear winner.
JJF did all he could do to win that heat and they sent my boy home early, it was in the judges hands. Congrats Frederico and go get that 1st place trophy.

Foi o 10 mais 9 que ja vi, prejudicaram e muito o JOHN JOHN , respeito a opinião dos juízes mas nao tem como dar 10 nessa onda, teve umas 10 ondas no campeonato que foram surfadas que foram muito melhores que essa e nao chegar a 9 , isso mostra para os brasileiros que a juizada erra com todo mundo
Vc intendeu errado , logico né que precisa de.publico , quiz dizer q os juizes não podem dar nota so com o barulho da torcida , esse 10 do morais foi a nota mais vergonhosa , não estou defendendo o john que para mim fez um campeonato mto mais ou menos , não merecia estar nas semi , agora se esse 10 do morais fosse em uma bateria contra medina ou felipe ou qualquer outro brasileiro , todos sites , blogs estariam esperniando xingando os juizes , a verdade tem q ser dita .
Breno compartilho da mesma opinião, nao vi nenhum brasileiro reclamando da onda , maioria estao falando vitória merecida do portuga, quero ver amanha os juízes fazerem isso contra o medina o choro que nao vai ser.
