  • As we work through indirect speech, this video will focus on commands, both standard indirect commands and commands in extended indirect dialogue. The good news is that commands will always use the subjunctive when relayed indirectly. This video moves through several different examples of commands in indirect speech.

    Thank you for the video!
    I'm wondering about 1:10 and whether the "occuparet" is in the correct tense. Since "persuadet" is in the present, shouldn't occupo be following primary sequence and be a present subjunctive?

      I thought the same. Sequence of tenses does apply for these clauses does it not?

    what about 'iubeo' and 'nego' ? aren't these exceptions because they are typically followed by an infinitive
