The first production of Romeo and Juliet that I ever saw was the Franco Zeffirelli film. Paris was lovely.

I do love Shakespeare, and this is great fun. As for "Much Ado About Nothing", I love the stage version staring David Tennant and Catherine Tate. They play off each other brilliantly. An extremely unique rendition that truly delivered the humor in a fresh and interesting way. I could not stop laughing.

You are an excellent professor of Shakespearian litterature, James ♥️👌
Hard to imagine these forced marriages for such young girls, indeed 😞

There’s a cool theory that R&J is a comedy for half the play until the death of Mercutio. He, as mercury, is symbolic of wit and comedy. His death causes a ‘comic reversal’ where the lovers are flung out of the comedy into the tragedy. It’s a well supported theory if you look at the structure at the opening and the structure of the climax. Loving the lectures. Arden Shakespeare’s are my favourite study versions. They put the footnotes at the bottom of the page so you can be super lazy. They always have essays at the beginning too. X

Whedon's Much Ado is brilliant. I guess it's not politically correct so he won't mention it, but it is my favorite version for anyone who is interested.
