Beyond this song - which I like very much, as well as the artist and person Floor - I'd like to comment what IMO you do here (if this is considered appropriate ?) Your approach, your expertise and empathy for music, your kind personal congeniality and that reasonable 'nerdyness' make following your channel a great pleasure. First time I've heard of this artist, absolutely loved this song. You are right about it being like a Bond track, I can imagine a scene with Bond rescuing someone from a burning building. Another great reaction from the prettiest girl on RUclips ❤️

Floor Jansen now as singer-song writer to establish her solo career outside Nightwish. As in her composer days for her former bands After Forever, Revamp, Northward and her further participation in Pagan's Mind and other bands. Fire is a nice non-metal song and as always good vocally performed by Floor. To me however this performance fits within the safety range of her vocal capabilities. Not like for instance the Fire touch of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. That's a little pity because she proved more than once surprising us stepping out of her comfort zone. Referring for instance to her growling activities on stage with Revamp, singing classical opera a few times, improving original pop songs up to more heavy metal creations, her participation in Beste Zangers 2019 singing in Spanish and German language, not her style, further her vocal contribution to War Child and last but not least her musical covers.
Great reaction thank you. I'm a metal head but loved this song instantly. You can throw any singing style at Floor and she'll nail it every single time. Yes, I could see this as a Bond theme too😁 ...Glad I discovered your channel ❤

Might I start by saying your hat is simply wonderful! You and Floor prove we need more hat wearing in the world. Hats are cool! And you're not the only one to remark that this could be a Bond theme, so you definitely are not alone in that. I totally agree as well.

To be completely honest, I had to let this song simmer a bit. Of course I love Floor's voice, but it took some time before I really started to like the song. The build, the tempo changes and the piano are wonderful. The lyrics are nice too, describing the feeling of being able to 'let loose' again after a long period of isolation and restrictions. I'm curious to find out what else she has in store with the upcoming album.

You are right. I think the hardest part for me was getting used to the structure of the song, so different from Nightwish, with the theatrical repetition of each musical segment twice, as in classical music. On the other hand, in my opinion, this song represents Floor very well: straight, without detours, climbing steeply but elegantly from the abyss to the highest peaks. As Anna pointed out, this song is not pop in its entirety. I look forward to the album :)

Same here, i don't like it. It's just too safe. Quite obvious it's meant for a mainstream public, which i definitely not my cup of tea.
I love this song, and I think Floor can sing absolutely anything she decides she wants to sing. I love hearing all Floor's vocals, low, high, belts, whispers, head voice, chest voice, rasp and growls as well. Mastery of her vocals is what I hear every time, with beauty or power on a dime. Thank you for your reaction.

Good you cleared up the genre question. I wasn't able to place it myself. The bending you bring notice to brings me back to Que SE Sienta from Beste Zangers. The ending, wow. This song is outside the realm of what I would normally choose to listen to, but Floor makes it come alive, she makes it so heartfelt and so relatable, that I found myself quite captivated.
If the Netherlands or Sweden (where Floor lives) ever wanted to make a clean sweep of the Eurovision Song Contest, all they'd need is Floor.
I'd say this fits into the classic pop / easy listening categories - or simply plays with the border between them. But it is hard to categorise one song that seems to contain elements of several genres.

For those saying this song isn’t pop may point you to the fact that Floor cowrote this song with two other writers who are both very succesfull pop writers and producers here in the Netherlands and even beyond: Gordon Groothekke and Wouter Hardy. Hardy is co-writer and producer of Duncan Laurance’s Arcade which won him the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019.
I don't know a word of Finnish but I believe that I can listen to you talk until I learn Finnish LOL! I also noticed the James Bondish sound in this song :)

My first reaction after hearing the song was that Floor applied for the job of doing the next James Bond song too! One question: Why do you mix up English and Finnish? Is that deliberate? And if so, why?
Hahaha I'm glad I'm not alone with that thought!
I originally only spoke Finnish but after I started gaining more international audience I started dropping a few English sentences here and there. I can't fully switch into making English videos because I have Finnish audience both too young and old to understand spoken or written English.

It sounds good, but she's best with Nightwish though, maybe because her voice fits so well with Tuomas music.
So the real question here is, how much time did you and Floor spend discussing head wear before she made the video and you made your reaction?
A lot. She didn't let me wear my red jacket with the hat, would have been too much 😂😂 (You can see the jacket in my Ave Maria reaction)
