when i say i wanna come up on every last library music release i can find . the variety, the unpredictability is crazy , and i love their album covers. love the Italian, french library records , very very out of this world stuff for the 70s
Oh lord! I never thought I would stumble upon this marvelous presentation apart from the silly obsession with these since I first started listening to them around 12 years ago. I wish Syd dale was there too for me his music always lifted my spirits in everyway. A fan, admirer and respect to all these great musicians who can create wonderful world around you in a span of under 2 to 3 mins of sheer fantasy. With love from Pakistan!
Back in the 70's and 80's, I had a post production recording studio in Minneapolis. I added 5 libraries to license music to my clients for TV/radio and documentary uses. Eventually I had 70 different libraries on LP's and also the master tapes of each record. I used the record for music searches and the tapes for mixing. It was my whole life just listening to production music. Regretfully, I sold the whole batch in 2000. I wonder what those LP's are worth now!!?
I first got into KPM (among with the others) in the mid 1990s when "The Sound Gallery" & "Music For TV Dinners" CDs were issued. It's so cool to see the genre getting more 'known' & available aside from only the old (sometimes scratchy) 78s & LPs.
Is it true that music unions made this music dwindle away? I can only image how expensive it would be to record prolifically like this again under the economics of the recording industry of today.
did you ever find a DVD of the film? I'd love to see this myself. I believe the DVD came with the actual vinyl album which sold out. There was a vinyl 2nd pressing that's still available on the likes of Amazon which I recently purchased but comes without the DVD. I'm not sure if the DVD ever got released as a standalone product or whether it will be in the future. Seems a shame to produce such a film and not offer it to a wider audience who may have missed out first time round.
*number one please release this *number two calling all brains at 1:19ish there Is a record displayed on the mr ugly ducklings shelf bottom left I have an oppitunity to pick it up from op shop for fries any one know the artist/alnum ?
It's Démis Roussos - Forever And Ever. I bought it myself from a charity shop a couple of years ago just because the cover made me think it would be some kind of psychedelic european desert rock music or something. But it's just a greek romantic ballad album, and it's not very interesting. I suppose you could get creative and sample it, but that's true of anything.
Syd Dale...Dick Walters Love it!! organic, analogue, real musicians, great melodies and musicianship...x
