I have been making meatloaf for something like 30 years and I never ever thought to pulverize the vegetables, what a a great idea!!!
I'm here today because I miss Phyllis and the calmness of her voice. Happy Heavenly Mother's Day, Phyllis.❤
I don't know why, but I love seeing the finished product on the plates. You have just a way with plating, I love it.. :)
Oh Phyllis! I wish I could be your Tupperware and live happily ever after inside your freezer. Love it! Patrick
A Great meal and I always enjoy your stories! Thanks for sharing Miss Phyllis.
As always, Mrs. Phyllis, that meatloaf meal looks just awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Do you have room for me at your house? I won't take much care....just call me when dinner is ready!! ;)
No! She should adopt me girls! I'd do the dishes, so I'm best choice! 😘
The meatloaf looks delicious. Thanks for bringing back a couple of memories for me, when I was a little kid, my mom would take me to Howard Johnson where she would always get the fried clams. She loved them. She was also a fan of meatloaf sandwiches, made just like you described them. Made me think of her when you talked about them. Thank you.
I love meatloaf sandwiches there the best. This is a beautiful dinner. Your gravy looks delicious. Miss you so much.❤❤❤❤
You are a cook after my own heart. The best utensils to use for mixing are your hands....:)
I LOVE your videos. Thanks for sharing them with us! 👍🏼😊
Oh Phyllis, don't make fun of those clam strips from HoJo's, they were awesome! I miss Howard Johnson's and they made the best iced tea too.
Mrs. Phyllis and her entertaining stories. This whole meal looks delicious. I sure enjoyed watching. ♥
This is one of my favorite meals just like yours. It looks so good Ms. Phyllis. I love homemade mash potatoes. :)
Phyllis I was born and raised in the south. We in NC have never had meatloaf with gravy. We top our meatloaf with ketsup and add ketsup on it in the plate. Never heard of gravy with meatloaf. What the frig?
It looks delicious!
Phylis another great meal! Can I ask you? What are those 4 vegetables or fruit against the wall next to the bowl of pears?? Thank you!! Mike New York
Michael I'm pretty sure those are white coconuts I purchase at Whole Foods.
Red bell is also yummy!
have you ever put the food processor together incorrectly and food splashes everywhere
Have not done that with my food processor, but I have cut my Kitchen Aid on with the bowl not fully attached and guess what it did? Threw the bowl with softened butter right down on my kitchen floor, it took forever to get all that soften butter up off the floor. I bet I never do that again.
Please make recipes about breakfast food!
That would be hard since we have green smoothies for breakfast every morning. We do sometimes have breakfast for supper. I have made lots of video for breakfast foods.
There are over 1100 videos and some are breakfast foods.
YUM YUM PHYILIS WOW GOOD FOOD
Almond butter, (like peanut butter) on green beans? How was it? it looks like a great idea, did you like it?
I did like the almond butter in the green beans. I also added a couple of dashes of garlic powder. The almond butter was one of the little squares I use in the smoothies every morning.
Hi what type of knife is that? I have been looking for that shorter/stout type knife and I don't know what it's called or where to buy (I prefer Amazon)??
It looks like a ceramic knife, if I'm not mistaken. Miss Phyllis can correct me if I'm wrong...
Marcy Koplen You're right Marcy, it's a ceramic knife purchase from Bed Bath and Beyond brand name - Cuisinart. You can also purchase on Amazon see my website under "Products I highly Recommend" for link.
ooh thanks Ladies for responding I will do just that! We luv Cuisinart products : )
Yummmmm
I shop at walmart for grocery store and everything I need I love buying things at walmart I do all my shopping there
what are those 4 hairy yellow produce items on yr counter nxtto the pears l cant reconize them please
Those are white coconut I purchased at Whole Foods Market.
Looks soooooo Yummy :)
Hi Phyllis, I'm watching all your videos back to back because U think your a good cook, I have a question .. don't you ever watch the Food Network channel ? I've seen many videos where the ladies make a meat loaf and they all say to not over knead your ground beef because then it gets tuff. I think that's why I'm afraid t make a meat loaf 😊
I have never watched the Food Network channel, we mainly watch movies and the news. I do like National Geographic sometimes, not often. As far as the meatloaf getting tough - I've never heard of a meatloaf being tough nor have I ever made one that was tough. A meatloaf has breadcrumbs, eggs sometimes milk or evaporated milk, onions, bell pepper, sometimes olives, ground beef, sometimes pork and veal etc. what would be in the meatloaf to make it tough?
Phyllis Stokes + well the cooks on the food Network said it's the kneading of the ground beef , mixing it for to long could make the meatloaf tuff when it comes out of the oven. I just think it's safer if I don't make a meat loaf but you know something .. sometimes I think the cooks on the Food Network don't realize that not everyone meatloaf would be tuff.. I don't know why they would say that but now all the food Network cooks are saying that if you mix a meatloaf to long it can get tuff I think it's because your hands have a lot of heat in them which causes the ground beef to become tuff when mixing it to long ,That's what Rachel Ray said if you know who she is. It's crazy know...
Ib well remember the meatloaf that was served in my college cafeteria. You could have killed someone by throwing it at them.It was that hard.Awful
I let your videos run from one and onto the next...and I think how many young women you have helped learn to cook.. You are indeed a blessing....I know how to cook and you still bless me....
older girls too, I'm 59 for real I love anything you want to talk about, you are so soothing to me that l fell asleep w your videos playing and when i woke up the next morning boy what a peaceful feeling I had hearing your voice as I opened my eyes Oh yeah I love to hear what Mr Bucky has to say too!! I thank God for you ❤👒🎸❤
Jan white men cook too.
My Name Here don't be a whiny crab; everyone knows that. It's just that everyone tends to speak from their own personal experience.
My Name Here just enjoy the videos and don't be the PC police. Nobody likes them.
Jan white phyllis's helped a lot of us old women also LOL I have learned so much from Phyllis I just adore her
I've been known to make a meatloaf just for sandwiches...
Pam Carballoca A cold meatloaf sandwich really hits the spot when you have the late night munchies.😍
Donna G I love meatloaf sandwiches with cream cheese instead of mayo. Delicious
JD Brock Thanks for the suggestion.☺

I've only recently found your channel, and honestly, I could listen to you all day. You're fabulous!!!
I make meatloaf fairly often. Love your cooking videos. You and Mr. Bucky eat well!
Being that you love meatloaf, I really think you would like Michael Chiarello's recipe for Italian meatloaf. Among other things it has basil, parsley, Parmesan, and a little bit of balsamic vinegar in it. It is so, so good! Lots of ingredients, but worth the effort; it's probably the #1 dish that my friends ask me to make for them. I don't think I can put a link to it in the comments but it's easy enough to find on Google. Note: I do not top it with marinara as the recipe calls for, so I can vouch for that part of it. Let me know if you try it!
Best,
Persia
Persia Davis yes, you can paste links in RUclips comments, just like anywhere else.
This is a family favorite:
_This quick-to-fix coffee cake quick bread has a wonderful orange aroma and great caramel flavor._
_Do not use a removable bottom tube pan. Substitute a 3-quart ring mold._
*Easy Caramel Orange Ring*
½ cup orange marmalade
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 (12-ounce) cans refrigerated buttermilk flaky biscuits
½ cup Butter, melted
Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 12-cup Bundt® pan.
Spoon marmalade by teaspoonfuls into bottom of prepared pan; sprinkle with walnuts.
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in bowl; mix well. Set aside.
Separate biscuits. Dip biscuits in melted butter, then sugar mixture. Stand biscuits on edge in prepared pan, spacing evenly. Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture; drizzle with remaining butter.
Bake 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool upright in pan 5 minutes. Invert onto serving plate; remove pan.
Beautiful meatloaf. How nicely it held together. A great idea to get those veggies done up in the food processor. And BTW, I have wonderful childhood memories of Howard Johnson’s restaurants. They were the go-to for travelers w children in the 1950s. The children’s menu (I always got the Tommy Tucker plate which was turkey w dressing and mashed potato I think). And we all got an ice cream cone as we were leaving. Those long car rides were brutal in the days before cars had AC.
Love this lady. She's long gone now but still most amazing home cook ever!!! Miss her face!!!
You mean Mrs Phyllis is dead??!!
When did she pass away. Oh my. I am so sad and sorry to hear it!
@@calvinjackson8110 yes. It is sad. Been gone now a few years along with mr Bucky who passed but a few months before her.
That's a meal for royalty!
Just wonderful!
Always love your cooking videos Phyllis. And, I really like to see the fruit you have in your fruit bowl. Those pears are picture perfect. I was given 15 pounds of home grown pears so I'm making pear butter tomorrow. Thank you for all your hard work! Have a wonderful day! :-) The Mrs.
I just love watching you cook. Would be better if you were in my kitchen doing all that cooking.
Ms. Phyllis, I must say, that meat loaf looks sooo very good, I can almost smell it..Thank you for sharing and teaching.
I CAN EASILY MAKE THIS KETO BY USING MY GROUND UP PORK RINDS IN PLACE OF THE BREAD CRUMBS. CAN'T USE REGULAR BREAD ANYWAY BECAUSE MY ARTHRITIS FLARES UP SO BAD. IF I STAY AWAY FROM BREAD I HAVE NO PAIN AT ALL. YAAAY ME! THANK YOU MS. PHYLLIS.
LOL, I agree that clams and squid taste like eating rubber bands
ChicKen gizzards taste like rubber bands to me:(
You made me hungry! lol lol
Wow - that looked absolutely delicious!!! I love meatloaf and would never, ever put ketchup in it or serve it on the side...only brown gravy for me...so your recipe is right up my alley! YUM!!!
Anything that makes me hungry is awesome and this sure made me hungry
I love squishing minced meat between my fingers always a pleasure and never a chore xx
Oh, how I miss her. But she and Mr. Bucky are now living together in their Heavenly Mansion. RIP Miss Phyllis and Mr. Bucky.
I remember eating at Howard Johnson's when I was a little girl. I think they must have gone out of business soon afterward because I don't have any "HoJo" memories after age 6! All I can remember is ice cream. Lol
I remember the Howard Johnsons because my daddy was the area manager in Jacksonville fl. Such great memories.....The Clams and Aunt Shirley and Ms. Shirley.... Did not have to order when we got there, she always remembered our favorites....Mine clams dinner and pistachio ice cream for desert....Then best part swimming in the swimming pool right on the beach... I miss those days.....Daddy made us feel extra special
2024, and I'm siting here wishing I could have dinner with you. We all miss you.
Wonderful meatloaf and how smart, to use the bread ends to make yummy bread crumbs. When are you gonna write your cookbook? Just put together thESE videos in a binder and folks would buy it for sure! 🤗
Your meal looks to be delicious comfort food :). I've one question, please, the gravy you've served with your meat loaf, is it your teriyaki sauce gravy? From appearances it sure looks to be, but am not sure. Thank you for yet another frugal meal we can prepare for our families. Mrs. Tc
The gravy was made with some of the liquid that cooked out of the meatloaf.
There was very little fat in the liquid which had the taste of all the veggies then I added a little cooking sherry. Sorry I didn't think to record how I made the gravy.
I did not use the teriyaki in this gravy
Phyllis Stokes, Thank you for your response, I certainly appreciate it :). Mrs. Tc
my mother made meatloaf enough where i vowed never to eat it in my own home. last weds for the first time, my mother who now lives with us made meatloaf for dinner. i moved out at 17 and am 33 now, needless to say i had a turkey sandwhich that night. lol. my husband doesnt care for it, and my oldest wanted to know where we was gonna get a bun big enough to fit the huge burger mom mom just made. haha.
I just saw this! My goodness this looks so good! Do you have the recipe on another video? My husband would enjoy that gravy!
Miss you mrs phillis bucky😢 your in heaven celebrating with Jesus amen
Howard Johnson’s was our go to breakfast place after a night out when we were teen agers. Soaked up the alcohol. That was 35 years ago.lol
That looks so good phyllis. Nice hearty meal. Yum
Your meatloaf looks delicious. I am making meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner tonight.
Another note in regards to the Italian meatloaf: I've only made it using ground turkey. The recipe calls for beef but there is so much flavor going on, I doubt you'll miss the beef if you use turkey.
Persia Davis turkey is not much healthier than beef, that's a myth. The leanest poultry is still about 30% saturated fat. Clogs your arteries just the same.
My Name Here boy, your negative Nellie or negative Ned comments all over this video. I wish you a good day and hope whatever is happening in our life that is making you so negative soon gets better.
The title of this video immediately brought to mind the movie "Doc Hollywood" with Michael J. Fox. 🙂
It’s just a precious blessing to be able to learn from Ms. Phyllis and she’s hot here now. I know that there are more women who consider ourselves southern cooks that are learning even now, from this lovely southern lady. I am so blessed and thankful.
I love meatloaf sandwiches too. The whole meal looks delish!
Lisa Bark
Looks delicious, thanks for sharing your recipes :)
That has to be good...I love her way of cooking.
My great grandma made a very similar meal to this but she made rice with tomato gravy instead of potatoes, and I've always wondered how she made the tomato gravy, so if you know a good recipe for it please let me know.
hi there Auntie Phyllis :-)
I want a plate...yummmmy!!! Is that the same biscuit recipe you made a while back? The buttermilk ones with lard? By the way...I asked you about your Vitamix...well I just made it onto the waiting list on qvc last week for one...woooo hoooooo!!!!! I should be getting it a little later this month...yayyyyy lol
The biscuits are the same recipe with buttermilk but I used Crisco on today's biscuits.
So glad you're getting a Vitamix - it's the very best on the market, nothing else even compares.
Looks delicious!
Nice hearty meal. Perfect....
that looks soooo good. As always, thanks for sharing.
Hi! I am sure that you put Howard J to shame! The meat koaf looks beautiful, and I can actually taste the cold leftovers for the sandwich!
My dad was an amazing cook! He taught how to make meatloaf, and he would make two separate wells one on each side with a kinda wall in between, -he'd call it the moat wall haha! -and he would crack an egg into each well, then he would make a top layer to cover the whole meatloaf, and the eggs would cook inside, and every slice had a slice of egg! I was always amazed how the eggs never broke or bubbled up, they were perfect! To me, the next day meatloaf sandwiches always tasted better than the first meal! I really like your green bean recipe, I'll have to try that! Thankyou once more....
What are the four brown round things lined up next to the wall and the dish of pears? At a distance, I thought they were coconuts, but then up close, they have ribbing like cabbage. ??
Thanks, Phyllis. I have never seen them before. Can I ask what you intend to cook with them, or do you just use the coconut juice/water in something?
This is how I got my kids to eat vegetables when they were little.
My mom always added a pound of pork sausage to keep it moist.
Thank you for this inspiration. I now know how moist the meatloaf needs to be :)
U tickle me. Memories of the Howard Johnsons (anywhere in the US) those clam rolls................
I am CONSTANTLY learning from you. Thank you, thank you Miss Phyllis!! It's 2:08 AM and I am catching up on your old videos. And now...I want meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and biscuits..... my stomach is GROWLING!!! XOXOXOX
I order meatloaf all the time when I go out to dinner even though Ive made it a thousand times. Its always a good comfort meal!!
That's why that happy for breakfast shoppers
Phyllis, you are such a blessing. I always watch your new videos and sometimes I refer back to your old videos whenever I'm making something you've cooked in the past. Your recipes always turn out wonderful for me, and your voice and personality are very uplifting!💗
Your biscuits look amazing....... You ever made mexican corn bread? It's one of my favorite things to eat with Meatloaf.
Oh Phyllis I absolutely agree with you about the clams ha ha ha! I also had a friend like that she either ordered clams or oysters or both! I would say the same thing you did and she'd saw when you go out your supposed to order something that you don't get at home. I always wanted either meatloaf or country fried steak. I always got creamed potatoes, and green beans with a biscuit. YUMMY! Btw this was a local diner.
I have never made a meatloaf this way. You know what, my meatloaf is never exactly the same. Whatever strikes my fancy goes into it. Now if my husband or one of my kids requests it, I make it their favorite way.
Thank you for giving me a new way to make it. I can't wait to give it a try.
I am so glad to have found your chanel. I am learning so much. I had a stroke a few years ago and well my memory isn't what it once was. Your videos have helped me to remember my Grandmas and my Moma's cooking. Thank you so much!
That meal looks delicious, and I will try your meatloaf recipe. A good way to cook canned green beans is to drain the liquid and cook the beans in chicken broth with a little butter, salt and pepper and a small minced onion. Bring to a boil, lower to simmer and cook for about 45 minutes. They are delicious.
Phyllis I am a huge meatloaf and mashed potato fan myself and this looks delicious!!!!! I like to serve blackeyed peas with meatloaf as well. And.... I freeze cooked ahead meal/food all the time too!
I remember Howard Johnson's from the Pennsylvania turnpike. my favorite was the fried clams.
I haven't made meatloaf in such a long time. It all just looks delicious! Those biscuits are superb!! 💜💛🧡
Come on Phyllis, I'm sure your year meatloaf is way better than what you had at Ho Jo's. I worked at one for a short time in the Boston area. Yes, your right about the clams and still at them.
You said almond butter for the green beans? Almond butter here is a sub for peanut butter but i dont think thats what you're talking about?
Elizabeth Carver, I used almond butter from the cubes I had frozen for smoothies. Back then I made my own almond butter in the Vitamix for smoothies and so I used a cube of almond butter in the green beans for flavor. I have graduated now from making my own almond butter and freezing it in ice trays to using a handful of almonds directly in the Vitamix when I'm making smoothies. It's much more convenient this way. So to answer your question again I did use almond butter in the green beans along with garlic. It takes the place of adding olive oil. Green beans are very tasty this way.
Phyllis Stokes for some reason i keep imagining the beans having a peanut butter like flavor. ill have to ponder this for awhile😄
This may be a silly request, but could u show us how u make your breadcrumbs. Do u use the food processor or hand grate them. Do u grind them while still frozen. I make such a mess when I grate mine, that I know there must be a better way.
I lightly toast the bread then put it in the food processor, it just takes seconds to turn it into crumbs.
You can make breadcrumbs in your VitaMix blender as well, using the smaller blending vessel. Whether dry/toasted or soft, they come out perfect. I use soft rye breadcrumbs in my meatloaf, it's to die for.
ancientsgate Think I will try rye bread in my meatloaf next time, sounds yummy.
Hi Phyllis do you ever do canning ?
I give up on canning many years ago now I only freeze vegetables and fruits. Sometimes I make refrigerator pickles and that's about it.
Ms. Phyllis could you make a turkey meatloaf? This looks so good but I can't eat beef.
ms. Phillis how big of a freezer do you have.
I think it's 18 or maybe 20 cubic feet upright freezer.
That looks so yummy!!!!
During our divorce, my ex did say he was going to miss my meatloaf. lol
they same size hamburg here in Canada wal mart is 10.00 is this the same price for you? just curious Mis Phyllis thank you
The 2 pounds of 93% leans ground beef was $11.48.
+Phyllis Stokes Love your videos. Could you make one on how you make your iced tea?
+Kevin Kraus Kevin, here's the video on my Southern Ice Tea onlynow I've switched to Lipton Decaf Tea.
+Phyllis Stokes Here's the video ruclips.net/video/eovzQHIBhuQ/видео.html
Thanks Phyllis, I really enjoy your videos!!
