    Great video - really useful.
I've been using Robert Mathieson's V3 Drier System over the last 3 years or so: it's really effective in preventing moisture from getting to the drones and drone reeds. I also have a MacMillan watertrap/valve in the blowpipe stock and this helps keep the bag free of saliva.
Hope you don't mind my giving these tips.
Keep up the good work Alastair !

Do you still have to do this with poly pipes?

How often should you oil your pipes with bore oil? I’ve been oiling mine a couple times a year. No cracks yet , but I always pull my chanter and blow pipe when I put my pipes in my case. I do take them totally apart when I brush and oil them . I’ve heard some people say they never oil them and others say you have to. I oil mine to be safe than sorry. I payed $1075 for my pipes 18 years ago,the same set now is $1400 or more. Is it just the matter of your climate?

In drier climate, your pipes will need more oil , 2-3 times a year or so. If you are in Scotland , the one times a year will do. Pay attention to the case's humidity level too , do not let it overdry , or absorb extra moisture. Do not store your pipes in extreme weather conditions. Oiling is not just agains dryness , but also protects your pipes cracks caused by dampness.

What price of bagpipes would you recommend for a first time beginner?
