    Nice rhyming.
Also, I do agree that it was odd with having Chris being portrayed as the bad guy, even on the cover.

It is insane to me that you don't have more traffic in this channel. I randomly came across you and you're videos are amazing. Keep up and good work. You have a new fan

Seems like we had a similar experience. I beat the game for the first time, thought it was really fun, but something was itching at me the whole time. I could tell it wanted to be 4 really badly.
So I beat it again, and again, and then mercenaries, and all the cracks just revealed themselves. Now I despise this game. Great review!

I don't disagree with much being said here, I just still personally have a more positive takeaway of the game and I've played through it more than 4 times now too. The story is extremely brief so you'd think they'd recognize what doesn't fit in it, but at the same time I love the characters aside from Miranda who we never really get to know, and i even enjoy Ethan. However gameplay wise I enjoy it a lot, with the points you made being more gripes than anything for my experience.
Overall though a good video; clear, organized and you give plenty of reasoning so that comments aren't usually just "this sucked, but this was alright" like I've seen from plenty of other review channels.

The funny thing about Chris being so stupid is that the game could've still happened if he told him right away
"Ethan, that wasn't Mia. That was a woman called Miranda who is a shapeshifter and she's after your daughter. Come with us, you'll be taken to a safer spot."
On the way to the safe place, Miranda awakens and Ethan falls unconscious due to the car crash. He wakes up and his daughter is gone.
Cue RE8 without Chris being a nuisance.

Respect re7 and 8 for bringing interest back to the series after 6. They are definitely fun to play through once but not as fun on repeats with how cinematic they are, also Ethan is just not a super likeable character and is kind of annoying.

I don't take any real issues with the setup: Chris Redfield has been a moron since 1996 (needing Rebecca Chambers to handle anything that didn't involve aiming a shotgun), and his appearances in subsequent games have done little to disprove that. Surely his hard alcoholic phase in RE6, accompanied by the performance-enhancing drugs he clearly took in the years after Super-Wesker made quick work of him in Code: Veronica, have damaged his gray matter to the point that he would deal with this matter in the dumbest way possible. Plus, if Chris is a master of anything (beyond boxing boulders), it's getting other people killed while he soaks in some more survivor's guilt. If Mr. Redfield had talked to Ethan like a sensible person, I'd have to expect that the game was non-canonical.

100% agree with you. The first play through was somewhat entertaining. But an absolute step back from the game prior… also… wtf wasn’t this one in VR? lol

Lol you did ruined it for me, but you also made many good points. I cannot deny, for all the effort they put in marketing, it could be really written better. Anyway 6,5/10 is a pretty good score for a game you heavily criticise (also u will never ruin moldman ethan for me, I like him just like I like potatoes- I think he is neat :D)

      5/10 is mid, mediocre, average.
Anything above 5 is varying levels of positive, and anything below is negative.

In my opinion, the original Biohazard 3, Outbreak File 2, and Revelations 1 are the best Biohazard games of all-time. The RE Engine entries are let downs.

@@WitchTaunter Yes but you specifically said you couldn't skip cutscenes like in resident evil 7 which you can.

    • @WitchTaunter
      @WitchTaunter  11 месяцев назад

@@r.w.9631 I called the extensive walking segments "glorified cutscenes" because they are extremely linear with basically little to no gameplay, and you cannot skip them. Didn't mean the literal cutscenes.

8 was definitely an upgrade from 7 but it 2as far from perfect. I just dislike Ethan as a character very much. He's extremely uninteresting and bland compared to the other classic RE characters. I have nothing against RE creating new characters into the franchise but they at least beef to have a some type of personality unuqie to them. Ethan is literally one of the most boring video game characters I've ever seen

  • @SeanGauseOfficial

It's a fun game on the first playthrough, but then on repeat playthroughs you realize that the entire story is a straight line and everything else is optional treasure hunting. No exploration required to progress the plot.

I played through about 8 times... I thought it was beautiful, but definitely felt they should've changed the order of bosses, Alcina should've been the 3rd in my opinion instead of the first. Big complaints are just how small the areas are (they definitely should've expanded the castle and Donna's house- which I loved, she was honestly my favorite of all four lords.) , and like you mentioned, not being able to go back into the castle was a huge bummer (however, after the 1st playthrough I didn't miss anything.) I also wish they would've incorporated more horror. I just felt anxious until I knew what was coming. Once I hit that stage, I was John Wick-ing those lycan bastards. But anxiety and fear are obviously two different things here, and it missed the fear mark for me. Another thing that drove me crazy was Heisenberg's factory. Fuck, every single time I played through I got turned around and lost. Was torture.

      It's alright. It's a B+ it's not an A+ like RE4 and Code Veronica though!
