    [VALJEAN]
    One day more
    Another day, another destiny
This never ending road to Calvary
These men who seem to know my crime
Will surely come a second time
    One day more
    [MARIUS]
I did not live until today
How can I live when we are parted?
    [VALJEAN]
    One day more
    [MARIUS & COSETTE]
    Tomorrow you'll be worlds away
And yet with you, my world has started
    [EPONINE]
One more day all on my own
    [MARIUS & COSETTE]
    Will we ever meet again?
    [EPONINE]
One more day with him not caring
    [MARIUS & COSETTE]
I was born to be with you
    [EPONINE]
What a life I might have known
    [MARIUS & COSETTE]
And I swear I will be true!
    [EPONINE]
But he never saw me there
    [ENJOLRAS]
One more day before the storm
    At the barricades of Freedom
When our ranks begin to form
Will you take your place with me?
    [MARIUS]
Do I follow where she goes?
Shall I join my brothers there?
Do I stay or do I dare?
    [ALL]
    The time is now
    The day is here
    [VALJEAN]
    One day more!
    [JAVERT]
    One more day till revolution
We will nip it in the bud
We'll be ready for these schoolboys
They will wet themselves with blood!
    [VALJEAN]
    One day more!
    [M. & MME. THENARDIER]
    Watch them run amuck
    Catch'm as they fall
    Never know your luck
When there's a free for all
    Here a little dip
    There a little touch
    Most of them are goners
    So they won't miss much!
    [STUDENTS]
One day to a new beginning
Raise the flag of freedom high!
Every man will be a king
Every man will be a king
There's a new world for the winning
There's a new world to be won
Do you hear the people sing?
    [MARIUS]
    My place is here
    I fight with you!
    [VALJEAN]
    One day more!
    [MARIUS & COSETTE]
I did not live until today
    Tomorrow you'll be worlds away
And yet with you my world has started
    [EPONINE]
One more day all on my own
    [JAVERT]
I will join these people's heroes
I will follow where they go
I will know their little secrets
I will know the things they know
    [VALJEAN]
    One day more!
    [M. & MME. THENARDIER]
    Watch 'em run amuck
    Catch 'em as they fall
    Never know your luck
    When there's a free-for-all
    [JAVERT]
    One more day to revolution
We will nip it in the bud
We'll be ready for these schoolboys
    Tomorrow is the judgement day
    [VALJEAN]
    Tomorrow we'll be far away
    Tomorrow is the judgement day
    [ALL]
    Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
    One more dawn
    One more day
    One day more!

Circa 1987, Gary was my first Valjean, though in those days (my early 20s) I disdained musicals as trivial and whimsical. But this was so deep and unique that I experienced every emotion including being brought to tears twice... the show completely changed my outlook. I can still remember getting into a cab after and just feeling dazed. My fiancé and I were in NY on an otherwise budget trip: staying in someone's apartment when they were out of town, using public transit, eating on the cheap. The one splurge was dinner at Cafe Luxembourg followed by this show - my Dad had bought us tickets and the seats were excellent. One of the best nights of my life. Thanks to the person who posted it and thanks to the cast for such an amazing effort. Now in my late 50's, I still see this show whenever I can (with the same date, married from 1988 to present). :)

Holy Mother of God. The dejavu I'm experiencing watching these videos! Saw this tour (1st U.S. national tour, also known as the Valjean Company) in February 1991 at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. I consider that performance to be the first time I saw the show as a fan. I had seen it once previously (2nd U.S. national tour, Fantine Company) at the Shubert Theatre also in L.A. in 1989 and that was a magical experience all of its own but by the time I saw this production, I had already purchased and practically memorized the Complete Symphonic Recording (which also had Gary Morris as Valjean as seen here). So this holds a very special place for me as it was the most overall exciting. The first time was unbelievable and is the performance I credit with making the biggest impression and starring one of the most memorable casts but I didn't know most of the show and I was really young (11 years old).
I would gush about the show as a kid to my classmates and they'd look at the souvenir brochure that I took to school once from the first time I saw it at the Shubert. One of my classmates was skeptical and proposed a challenge when I announced the show would be returning to L.A. and I would be seeing it; he wanted to see the show for himself. I think my gushing over it had gotten on his nerves and he basically wanted to see it to come back to class and tell everyone it was the most overrated thing ever. I didn't take him seriously and brushed him off but he kept almost aggressively insisting for me to buy him a ticket. When he produced the $47.50 the ticket would cost the next day, I told him we had a deal.
My older brother kept procrastinating about buying the tickets. I recall asking him when he'd buy them since they had already been on sale for a while. He was in a bad mood that day because the Dodgers lost a game and he barked at me..."STOP PRESSURING MEEE!" One morning I was awakened by someone singing "Do You Hear the People Sing?" It was my brother and he entered my room marching in One Day More fashion. He handed me an envelope and inside were three 2nd row orchestra tickets for 26 February 1991 @ 8 p.m. I was sooooo happppyyy!
I counted the days, literally. I couldn't wait. I was extremely excited.
The day came and we picked up my skeptical friend from his home and made our way down to the Pantages. I was literally shaking from excitement and my hands were sweaty. My friend just looked at me like, "OK...it's just a show. Sheesh."
I was captivated the whole show...I was dreaming with my eyes open.
At intermission. I turned to my friend and I said, "Come on. Wasn't that just amazing!?"He had a half-smirk and said, "Yeah, it's pretty good."
At the finale, I noticed he was touching his face a lot. I assumed he was crying but not sure. When the lights went out a thunderous applause erupted and I was just about to immediately give a standing ovation when I was taken aback by my friend already standing and clapping with a BIG smile on his face. I thought, "I guess he liked it?" lol. On the way home he said he did like it a lot then promptly fell asleep in the car. Hey, it was past our bedtime. The show used to end at 11:15 p.m. in those days.
The next day, he had the nerve to say it was good but not THAT good. I just looked at him with a BULLSHIT look on my face and he added, "but it was REALLY good." lol I think he didn't want me telling everyone he gave the show a standing ovation before I did.
I'll never forget the feelings I felt that night.
Thank you for sharing this and for filling in my fragmented memory of that experience all those years ago.

Wow! Thanks for sharing your memories.
Of the 11 times overall that I saw Les Mis .. in various locations ranging from Broadway to London to Los Angeles .. this remains my favorite cast and favorite performance of all. I consider it a tremendous gift that I was afforded the opportunity to record it.

@@ACMallet I know Cameron Mackintosh is notoriously difficult to get permission from to film one number. Allowing anyone to record the whole show is unheard of but I see this was recorded using multiple cameras so it must have been something commissioned by Cameron himself but then I wonder how you own the only copy? It's basically a very proshot performance of the show. It's also a very good capture for the time; nearly every recording of the show from this era--whether proshot or amatuer--is so dark due to the limited technology available during this time and literally makes the show look dull and boring when anyone who has seen the original knows well that live onstage the show is just so magical and doesn't look dark nor boring at all. Any video recording from the early 90's where the lit, shuttered windows on the set can be seen (like in "Look Down" from this performance that you've uploaded) is an EXCELLENT recording. Speaking of shuttered windows, any chance of uploading "On My Own" and while you're at it, "I Dreamed a Dream"?
Thanks again for sharing. You have no idea how happy you've made this long time Les Miserables fan! As far as rarity goes this video recording is exceptionally rare. Probably the rarest video of this musical I've ever come across. Thank you again x1,000,000,000!

@MiserablesMoments So sorry. This is probably the 3rd time I've apologized to you for my elusiveness (not intentional). I've had so much happen recently and I get distracted. I'll make it better this time especially since things have quieted down and I'm currently in a MAJOR obsessive phase with Les Mis. Well, I always am but this is more obsessive than usual! lol. Been revisiting a lot of old stuff and it has had a strange effect of making me feel very nostalgic to the point of tears very often as I revisit the original and anger for what they've done to this beautiful musical.
Anyway, I can send you the original audio cassettes with Laurie as Fantine. I believe they are from a 3rd national tour performance in 1997 at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia. Off the top of my head I know it has Brian Herriot (I think that's his name) as Enjolras, Kate Fisher as Cosette, and Andrea McArdle as Eponine. The quality is very good as the person who taped it sat very close to the stage. I recall however Laurie sounding considerably muffled. I thought it may have been her illness at the time affecting her voice but she sang with full voice and powerfully al the way up until her passing so I figure it had something to do with something getting in the way of her mic. It's not horrible and her brilliant performance still shines through.
You can send me the cassettes back when you're done digitizing them. I'd happily do it and I usually insist on being the one to transfer and clean them up because I love doing that but I no longer have a reliable cassette tape player to use. The last time I used the one I have, it ate up the magnetic ribbon in the cassette. Wouldn't want to ruin a good audio boot so I trust you have something that works properly. I can always buy a good player but am currently a Miserables as, like Fantine, have been shown the curb and out of a job and am now a poor whore. Well not really but I am counting my pennies to provide for my babies (my two cats). I'll send this comment via the email you supplied in case you don't see my reply here right away. Sorry again for being so difficult to get in contact with!!!

Susan Tilson, was to me... the best Eponine I have ever seen in all of the tours, and shows on both the broadway stage and west end.... Thank you again, for bringing this memorable performance back to me.!!!

This may seem obvious to a seasoned theatre lover but I have come across numerous comments as of late giggling and poking fun at the "little steppy dance" that they do here in "One Day More." Ahem.
As much as you think the cast is "getting down" and dancing a little jig here...they are NOT. And this isn't choreography. This is a creative way to perform continuous MARCHING in a limited space. That's all it is. So please don't feel 2nd hand embarrassment while watching this because you think they are dancing some jig, which would admittedly be awkward. A minor change in perspective would cure that when you look at it through the eyes of a theatre lover and see the brilliance the directors achieved in creating the type of triumphant march that isn't even possible with the revolve considering the large group. They did it so it goes with the beat of the song to add more excitement to it and when that revolve turns slowly and they march sideways as Cosette and Valjean slowly "sail" toward centerstage (my interpretation, I don't know if it was meant to make it look as if they are on that boat sailing toward Calais. And yes, I'm aware they never actually end up sailing there but I see it as what is to come) is stunning. The best way this number has ever been staged.
So yep, stop with the "heeheheeeheee! They are dancing some silly two step. Heehehee how funny and cute!" Argh.
