    Smaller bikes, such as the Ninja 250 are often underrated. I've ridden my 03 from Las Vegas to Los Angeles a couple of times. The bike had no problem keeping up with the left lane with me (220 lbs), 2 saddlebags, a tank bag and my backpack. The worst part was, I had to keep stop every hour or so because the seat was not comfortable on long rides. I had even taken a 2 hour trip to Death Valley with my girlfriend and some cargo (bottles of water) as well. It still had the power to keep stay on the left lane.

    If anyone is thinking about getting this bike and it’s in good overall condition under $1800, just do it. It’s a ton of fun . I’ve been riding for many years on 125s And I moved up to the 250 after crashing my bike. It was super cheap, ridiculously cheap to maintain and ride, plus it’s a high revving engine where all the power comes in at 9 or 10k RPM. While it’s not a crazy pull, it’s fun as hell for a new rider

    • @edwardkeeter762
      @edwardkeeter762 4 года назад +1

      Just repeating literally everything KidNamedKuddy just said. A pre-gen Ninja 250 is just about the cheapest bike to buy, insure and maintain you can get, they're bulletproof, and as long as you're not out to set a Land Speed Record, they're a total blast to ride. Got mine for $1700, and it was worth every penny.

    For a first time rider im myself looking into a ninja 250, was it easy for you to get use to a bike?

    • @RyderRyan8787
      @RyderRyan8787  7 лет назад +7

      It is a very forgiving bike for sure! You'll also use a 250cc for your MTC course. I used a Honda Shadow 250 and must admit that was an enjoyable bike. However, I'd highly suggest the ninja 300 for fuel injection alone if you don't want to deal with someone else's prior problem as a variable upon purchasing. The bike can reach 104 in speed, but totally not necessary and when properly running it's an awesome bike for commuting between cities on the highway or through town. Just if you buy a 250 instead of a 300 make sure you take it to be tuned up if you don't have bike experience. Don't always take a used bike from a shop and assume it was "tuned and primed" It was not the case I found out from the irony of my first few videos.

    • @jamesallen6726
      @jamesallen6726 7 лет назад

      RyderRyan8787 the bike im looking into is a used bike and woulf be a private sale, its been sitting in the same spot for a while, read the for sale sign, and it needs a new back tire, and a new clutch, it doesnt sound like a expensive repair

    • @jamesallen6726
      @jamesallen6726 7 лет назад

      RyderRyan8787 also the bike im looking into buying cost $1,200 to you does that sound cheap for a used bike?

    • @RyderRyan8787
      @RyderRyan8787  7 лет назад +1

      Well a tire and clutch aren't that pricey. But make sure you are mechanically inclined to replace the clutch on the bike if you are interested in it.

    • @RyderRyan8787
      @RyderRyan8787  7 лет назад +1

      Well I paid 1800 for my Ninja 250. But I've seen fully running 250's for around 1500 online with a decent clutch and rear tire with minimal damage. I'd consider that one for 1200 and see if the owner will start it up to ensure it runs. However, I'd also look at other options at 1500. For a first bike the 250R is a wonderful bike!

    Idk why people have issues with 250s. Im a big dude. 6 foot 280lbs. i have a 09 ninja 250r. I can get my bike up to around 95-100 no problem as long as wind isnt a factor. My 250r is a monster and even keeps up with 300s as far as acceleration and they are shocked like are you sure thats only a 250. Must have gotten lucky idk.

      WCGwkf thanks for the question! I hope the weekend is treating you well so far. When insuring the ninja 250 I paid for full coverage from geico at 110 a month. I’d say 76 is quite reasonable. But, please make sure you have health insurance if you don’t have that in your Moto policy. Also uninsured if in Texas is a very good idea to save your bacon.

    Were you trying to cruise at 90mph on a 10+ year old 250cc motorcycle? That's being more than a little optimistic. I had the same bike, but I kept my highway cruising speed at 75MPH and the Ninja will go all day long without complaint. If I pushe it past 80MPH for any length of time it'd burn a lot of oil, but it could still do it. I never had any problem with the engine, period. Pre-gen Ninja 250s are fantastic bikes, and pretty much bulletproof, but they're not magical. A few concessions to reality need to be made when riding them.

  • @cobrasvt347
    @cobrasvt347 2 года назад +1

    If you care nothing about stop light to stoplight racing and more about hwy cruising with the 250 either a larger gear up front or smaller in the back to get those revs down a bit and stretch out that close ratio trans, a re-gear is your friend. Helps with gas mileage and saves a bit of wear and tear on that poor little screaming engine. 😉

Best thing to suggest to you if you choose to purchase a carbureted bike. Keep it well kept and in an optimal tuned condition. Treat it like it’s a baby and give it that extra attention. George,
      Thanks for the love and comments, I truly appreciate! I'd like to say congratulations and welcome to the motor bike family! Blue is an excellent color for these ninja bike's, I'm really digging the newer paint schemes these days. Have a little more power and torque can be a scary and helpful thing. Less worry about accelerating out of an issue, but a little heavy on the throttle can get you in trouble as well. If I still had my Ninja 250, I totally would! Alas she is gone and I am still deciding on my next bike. Still a fight between the Ninja 300, Multistrada 900 or the Zero SR electric motorcycle with battery extender. Best part is, I could put the electric bike in my office and charge it and use the freight elevator to get it to any floor without fuss...so super tempting. Well I'd say if you want some highway time do it around 10 am where everyone for the most part for the hustle and bustle is at work and hasn't started the 11am lunch crowd. Back roading is awesome! I've done many trips with the 250 from dallas to arlington on highway and backroads. Just be super mindful of the people around you. Tonight on the way home I was driving on the right lane next a jack in the box and this person stops to the left of me and proceeds to turn into my vehicle. At the time I was driving my Honda accord and lightly popped the curb and ended up in the parking lot and I get honked at. Was not a great situation, but a reminder that you can save your back from a crazy person or unaware driver. If you have any questions at all myself or many of the other people will be happy to give you some love. I'd love to hear more about your journey as you continue to improve your skill and knowledge as a rider.
      Best Regards!

    Its not meant for highway. Ive been riding my 07 for a year now. Traffic flow in so cal is 75-80mph. At 10,000 rpm @ 75mph thats super high. Max power peaks @ 12500 rpm. It really stresses the engine, everything shakes after 8000 rpm. Passing cars is terrible. In 90+ degree weather. Riding at 9000 rpm for 15 min will cause it to overheat.

      Thanks for the feedback Justin. Definitely something to help other 250 riders and a good reminder to myself to maintain a certain top speed to prevent overheating.

      Justin Towers what rpms do people cruise in on a bike? On my Miata I keep it at 2000 to cruise and highway it's gonna sit around 4000

    • @johnranallo424
      @johnranallo424 7 лет назад +10

      Wrong! It shakes after 8K because your carbs are not synced or something else like wheels not balanced or bearings in the neck are shot. When all is well with the bike it is a very smooth ride. You're missing out Justin. Have somebody who knows what they are doing service your bike.

      Yea I agree at the time I was very new riding when uploading this video. I could of had the unfortunate happen, but I am blessed that nothing like that did. I used this bike for daily use going from Arlington, Tx all the way to Downtown Dallas and worked darn well even in the summer after the hiccups were addressed. Thanks again for the feedback Carlos! Stay safe and warm if the weather is low in the temps.

    I don't understand why can't it go on highway. It's only 55 mph or 110 kmph that even modern mopes can do 145 kmph unmodified.
    I do a 600-800 ride to nowhere. Just point n shoot. My bike can do a 175 kmph. Not bad. If reflash can go 190kmph , if use Liquid Moly lubes and Ron 97 petrol

      RyderRyan8787 me and my buddy went to the Lake Mead Las Vegas but first need full gas going there due to no near gas station when I showed my gas gauged to him it is near full tank still he was surprised with my 250cc gas saver his gas was half already. He wanted to get kawasaki ninja 250r because of the gas. It lasted me like 2 weeks without putting a gas. This bike is worth it for traveling.

      Chase thanks for the feedback brother!
      I'm actually looking at the Zero motorcycles. The convenience of having it charged and ready to go when I ride to dallas and being able to charge it at work. The cost of "electric fuel" is very low in comparison to the petrol bikes. Also hey who doesn't have a power socket you go and visit winning! I have a truck that is my backup vehicle and think this might be a solution to consider. Efficiency and less maintenance being it's all electric. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Again I'd like to apologize for the delayed response life and work have been stealing in my time.
      Regards,
      Ryder R

    • @edwardkeeter762
      @edwardkeeter762 4 года назад

      As said previously, the Ninja 250 is "officially" a sportbike, and it actually has a lot of sportbike goodness, but the riding position is very upright and comfortable...feels like a Standard when you ride it. I consider that a good thing because it's more comfortable, more confidence-inspiring, and makes it easier to control in real world riding. Much the same can be said of its bigger brothers: Ninja 300, 400, 500, 650.

    New viewer, possible subscriber. I am actually in the process of buying a 07 kawa ninja 250r. Do they have over heating issues and if they do what minimum speed did you encounter the issues? In your video you were doing over 70 won't be specific but then it over heated. I don't plan on doing more than about 75 to 80 max. Please advise and if I subscribe I would like a sub back on my channel please, as I have different content. Thanks, stay safe and cool!! 👍✌😎🏍
