Both are superb value, and the subjective value judgement will lie with the eye of the beholder. Personally, I'd go with the Perlenbacher as 4 cans for £2.99
Would love your thoughts on if you see any difference in quality/flavour between the Rheiny in bottle Vs Can. Maybe it's psychological but for me the bottled stuff tastes a bit better...but the convenience of the wrapped 4 pack finds me always reaching for them during the Aldi shop
If you look at some of their beers and the imaging and the likeness it looks like some of the well-established brands. Actually some of them tastes pretty good and can hold their own against the other well-known brands. Very entertaining video my friend 👍🏾🍺😁
Great review I have been telling anyone who cares to listen the Aldi beer is the best pilsner bar none better than anything coming from the British mass brewers
Absolutely. It’s far superior to the Perlenbacher which is far too sweet imo. Completely disagree with the bitterness he’s talking about. It’s the other way around.
Enjoyed this review. Always pick these up as they are both awesome. The bier hooligan can't get enough of the perlenbacher. You can also got 4 Cans of perlenbacher in Lidl for stupid money. These 2 put many a big name lager to shame.
Just tried the Perlenbacher and your right it is bitter and leaves an odd dryness to the pallet, not for me I will now go and find an Aldi to try the Rheinbacher but in the meantime I’m back on the Krombacher 🤪
Aldi Rheinbacher is fantastic both the pilsner and Weiss beer. Always have some bottles in the fridge and my go to for a session. I tried some more “premium” pilsner but they don’t taste much better and for £1.20 in wales it can’t be beat.
Good review, I was really looking forward to watching this one! I'm a fan of both these beers. And for budget beers they are so much better then a lot of the well known macro lagers. You can also get perlenbacher for £2.99 for 4 cans.
No, they're not. The cans have 4.5% ABV and have never had any higher ABV. The same goes to Rheinbacher, whose cans also have 4.5% ABV. Rheinbacher in can smells and tastes much fresher than in bottle, to the extent that, to me, they tasted if they were two different beers.
Hi Paul, you need to review Lidl's new pilsner, Staravice. It's amazingly good for £1.25 a bottle. IMO it's probably the best non-craft supermarket pilsner, including those that are twice the price.
@@paulsbeerreviews and he didn’t sanitise before his drinks breaks and or before entering the gym and before/after using each piece of equipment and there was no reason to take his mask off either.
I agree, I think I prefer Jesse on vocals but ‘As Daylight Dies’ is probably my favourite album of theirs....obviously with Howard on vocals. Either way, awesome band and good to speak to another fan Cheers 🍻
@@paulsbeerreviews My absolute favourite and what I consider a classic is Alive Or Just Breathing. That's usually my "go to" after a few drinks. Great to speak to you, too. Have a super weekend 🤘
I love Rheinbacher but not tried the bottles but the cans are 4.5% for some reason. We have not been to Aldi since the lockdown but thanks to a review you did of Holsten pils Paul I found my little local corner shop doing 8 x 500ml cans for £9 and i love it. Well, until i go back to Aldi for a trolley full of Rheinbacher!
Be careful about buying Rheinbacher in bottle version in a large quantity as you may regret it. Rheinbacher in can smells and tastes much fresher than in bottle, and the bottle version is not as smooth as the can version.
@@AA-uf3bl Thanks i will stick to the cans, not had Rheinbacher for weeks as i have not been to Aldi. Had to go to Lidl and get Perlenbacher which is not as smooth as Rheinbacher
Rheinbacher over perlenbacher any day but that's my opinion n mine alone as it is subjective. However, a bigger name supermarket, Tesco does a Czech pilsner that is just superb called Staropromen check that out. Great review.
Definitely Aldi's own Rhinebacher pilsner lager for me. In my opinion, Lidl's Perlenbacher has a chemical aftertaste. Rheinbacher has a crisp & citrus'y flavour, better packaging, & a brown bottle for added confidence.
Always been a fan of Rheinbacher, dont have an ALDI close to me, but do have a LIDL, not a big fan of the Perlenbacher though, I always go for the Galeroux these days. Nice standard lager
Perlenbacher used to be 5% and in a brown bottle and produced in Germany and it was perfect. Then Lidl started producing it in France and putting it in green bottles and it tasted like arse. Aldi also did that with Rheinbacher for a while but went back to brown bottles, so I just buy Aldis now.
@@paulsbeerreviews Very true dude. Before Lockdown 'Atonement' was on in my car a hell of a lot... Having said that, so was 'End of Heartache' and 'As Daylight Dies', with the occasional 'Alive or Just Breathing' too... Ah! The good old days... Yep, gotta keep scene alive & breathing dude. 🤘🤘 Anyway, I'll probably wait until after lockdown or when the shops are quiet before I walk up to my local German Supermarkets to try out Rheinbacker & Perlenbacker. 😁😁🍻
‘Alive or just Breathing’ & ‘As daylight dies’ are metal masterpieces in my opinion. Everything they’ve done is awesome, to the point where it’s scandalous how underrated they are a band. Great drinking music too 👌🏻
@@paulsbeerreviews Reiny is now my go to beer!! got one of the Wheat Beers and Medusa Ruby Ale! You reviewed them?? They had new beers from Hop Foundation. U ever had a beer by them??
Yaaah, I won :-). Your right, the Rheinbacher is the best, but the Perlenbacher to be fair, is terrific value as well at 99p. the beer in the can version is lower proof as well, and you can tell, 4.5%, compared to the bottle version 4.8%. good review
Rhienbacker for me to , but I do all my shop at lidl since lockdown i don't wonder to Aldi so I've bought a 18 case of perlenbacher .Good review enjoyed it thanks 😀
Very good review, both most excellent pills and much maligned on rating websites. Funny how most RUclips reviews are favourable, as most point out, for the money you can't go wrong and much better examples of the style than a lot of the meh offered by abinbev and the like
Thanks very much. I’ve always enjoyed them both. Unfortunately there’s a bit of snobbery in the beer world and decent products like this are too often overlooked unnecessarily. Cheers 🍻
Great review and a fantastic channel. It's great to watch someone who loves their beer and knows their stuff without being pretentious about it.
Thanks very much, really appreciate that and you taking your time to watch. Cheers 🍻

Love to see you review Wernesgruner if your Aldi sells it: I get it at my USA Aldi’s all the time and it’s my favorite !

It seems the brown bottles do better for preservation not only that but also unfiltered drinks

I agree with your conclusions, Paul. Try Aldi's Galahad versus Lidl's Excelsior next. A real Welterweight battle...
Never had Rheinbacher, but definitely agree that Perlenbacher has that bitterness. I tried a pint-sized can of Perlenbacher from Lidl.
same theres a lidl near me not an aldi
Great beer battle Paul. Love a cold Rheinbacher. Stay well
Paul please review lidls Argus!!
I’ll sort that for you. Cheers 🍻

Fuckin Hell........ in 2023 these beers are £1.40 ish PS for those listening in 2020 Covid was BS !
Agreed brother
Why do they look so flat never seen a pilsner so flat, maybe temperature or the wrong glasses,
both also give a much better head when poured correctly.
Agree with you the whole way , tried both.
Is Perlenbacher still worth getting as I heard the quality had gone down?
I’ve not had it for a while so I’m not sure if those rumours are true

Cold Perlenbacher in bottles for me mainly because I can grab on my way home from work .
That said I'll give the Aldi one a go...would be rude not to🍻

Drink Perlenbacher regularly. The price and the taste is just great. Who is the Paramedic by the way?
Ah you spotted the shirt hanging up there. That’s the Missus, she’s on the Ambulances in London.

To be fair, is there a better supermarket lager then these two bad boys!! The taste is a knockout?
The rest of the supermarkets should really have a crack at it shouldn’t they. They’re own brand lagers are piss poor in comparison.
@@paulsbeerreviews oh god yes!! To be fair if u paid £5 for cans of Rheinbacher you would be happy!! They should sell it a 12 pack!!

Good reveiw and bonus points for liking a awesome band
Yeah man 🤘🏻
Steinhauser I would say was the best German beer in Aldi
I like Reinbacher to though
Have never tried the reinbacher but do prefer perlenbacher from the can probably due to that skunky smell. Love the killswitch shirt by the way.
Yeah lidl do the same multi can packs. The thing with both is they drop the abv to 4.5 on both in canned variety.
Yes I’ve noticed the canned Rheinbacher is 4.5% but still very good.
