      I've been losing hand after hand to miracle rivers for opponent and I have no idea how to counter it, and it's starting to break my spirit. At first I said 'this is just variance', but as it keeps going it's having me question everything about my play.
      I've tried betting big with top pair to force out opponents on flop. They call anyway and hit on river.
      I've tried betting smaller with top pair, they call, and hit on river.
      I've tried folding more and playing tighter. No avail.
      I'd love to say they are just lucky; this is just variance, but I just can't. There must be something I can change about my play that will see me lose less showdowns, but then I think about how I lost those and to be completely honest there are only a handful I regret. Most of the calls, I'm telling you; it's like I have kk or aa and lose to 64o. I don't think I should stop raising on those hands....but I really just need to stop playing altogether until I fix whatever the hell is going on.
      I've always believed everyone has at least one good hand per hour of play; but now I'm wondering if I just got lucky all other times I've won a hand.

    I recently sadly payoff the nit with second full house vs his top full house . TBH they representing exactly that set of nines but im still too weak to fold one bit lesser full house. He checked multiway 9 high board then suddenly after checking turn by me and him betting he jammed on my reraise . It was kinda obv unless he somehow jamming some combo draw but ofc not it was what it looks like set of nines

    Do you have vids of you playing cash or tournaments?

  • @UncleJoeLITE
    @UncleJoeLITE Месяц назад +2

    Sure, I punish limpers whenever I can, but I do have 1 question: With 3 limpers & both blinds still to act, isn't KQo a pretty marginal hand to put in a 10x raise in most tournaments? Wouldn't reverse implied odds apply pretty often here? Especially with any TAF limpers, we could be in very bad shape. I'd rather try that with A5s so I could at least hit the nuts if one of them called me, plus it's easier to get away from a crappy A than hitting a K with Q kicker for me. I dunno ofc!

    #2) how do you play pocket AA pre flop when UTG?

    • @steveb2616
      @steveb2616 Месяц назад +1

      He may answer but I would think you are betting 3.5-4x or whatever you normally would for any betting hand. There’s no need to get tricky pre-flop. Especially if you are at low stakes where many players aren’t catching on to betting patterns or even position.

      Same as all other hands im opening unless there is a huge whale who doesnt care about anything and calling any-two then i could raise it even bigger although even fishes might get suspicious if u all of a sudden raising bigger. Esp if u was sitting with him for some time . IF you on the other hand just joined table but watched and targetted him before then definitely make it big

    The tilt is the quickest way to lose money IMO, I played started getting frustrated and stopped playing, because I know I'm playing stupid, making bad calls, their is always another day when you're calm and you can focus.

If I quit playing I would never waste time watching videos on improving my poker game. If you are back on the felt best of luck my friend.

    Just got back from playing a $200 tourney. Got my money in good twice and lost both times. Pocket kings cracked by pocket queens and second time villain got a gutshot on the river against my top pair and had terrible odds to call my bet. I was tilted badly and luckily I did not sit down at a 1/2 table after tortney because I would have played badly and probably lost my $300 buyin. I need to remember that pocket aces will lose to pocket sixes 20% of time and variance is part of poker. This is why I LOVE chess because there is no variance. The better player is always rewarded by better play. . This is the part of poker I need to learn to live with. Now I understand why Phil Hellmuth has so many hissy fits when he loses because he knows he outplayed his opponent yet the villain called and got lucky. A pro like Phil should understand variance and never act like such a spoiled brat. And Nathan, thanks for explaining that variance is actually good for the game because the fish who got lucky thinks he is a good player and comes back again to eventually lose his stack do to poor play. You are a great poker coach my friend!!

    Was in a lil tourney and got out first hand being BB with 7 3 suited, under the gun has K 4 off and I hit two pair on the flop 7,k,3 I bet, he raises, I call. turn comes 4 he bets, I think he has K Q or something like that so I go all in. River comes 5 and sadly I saw he had k 4.

      @@Peanut_butter101 Just jam to his raise on the flop and make your life easy although for me its a check/raise allin not donkbet .Bottom two are vulnerable they might get counterfeited quite easily and u want get it in as quickly as possible esp being shortstack in a tournament getting big blind special

    Corrections:
    #5) Any fish will fold, if you bet strong enough to bluff them.
    #4) Play trash cards if your opponent thinks they're strong
    #3) Bluff Nits whenever you read them not holding nuts
    #2) Limp whenever you think you can see flop cheaply
    #1) When you feel you're tilting, leave the session! Right away!!
    Thanks for reading.

      you should bet 3 pot at the flop to make them fold because they're more likely to have a straight. more than 90% players will fold that hand. If they call and raise at the turn, meaning they got luck, you know you're in a big trouble and should fold. If they call but not raise, you should go big (all in or sth) to make them fold. 99,99% they fold (your case).
      BTW, if your opponent somehow call and raise at the river, you should definitely fold because they got luck at the river for sure (your case)
