Before this video even starts, I'd like to call out the 'experts' like Alan Smith and other Sky Sports people who have said they didn't know what Ugarte gives United. That was a difficult chance to score tbh based on the keeper's position his nest chance would jave been through the legs but Alison was anticipating that he should have just smashed it and forced it in or give a chance for a rebound if the keeper gets it.

Amorim seems to value ball carrying midfielders and long passing in wider areas. The big expansive passing is done by the outside centre backs and wing-backs. In midfield they dribble the ball where possible, and pass it short when not. It sucks opposition players into contact in midfield (often winning free kicks and allowing the team to adjust) and essentially gums up their play, creating space for United to play around it. They are quicksand. That’s not a flattering image, but it’s something nobody else is doing and it will take time for other teams to combat it.
Yes very true, especially his two 10s, his sporting team are known for their heavy carrying attributes, which is why I will be glad if we can get Matheus Cunha.

Maguire surprise me that he did not drop back 10yds but keeping our defensive line high. Good to see all 3 CB are prepared to carry the ball forward into midfield. Mainoo dont have the long switch passes but did a good defensive work. He too could play in the 10 as he seems to obtain his match fitness - like Amad, he has such good ball control in tight spaces having excel in futsal. Ideally would like us to bring in another Ugarte type of player this winter as we dont have any backup for him. From the academy, dont think Collyer can step up and maybe Dan Gore could be the backup.

We should be looking at players like Petar Sucic, Hugo Larsson, Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham. They can all play the position and have the physicality to dominate games what do you think though?
the midfield functioned better against liverpool and manchester city because the frontline did not press high very often so the team was able to condense the space and play nearer to each other, with bruno and amad helping out as well. for mid- and bottom table teams they're expected to step up with the higher press and that will again expose all their healthy midfielders at the moment outside of ugarte. which explains why they lost those matches recently.
It was refreshing to see United out-competing and out-pressing Liverpool and Ugarte was immense in this and played his best game for United so far. Mainoo also put in his best performance this season. However, I still have concerns that Mainoo may not have the legs/stamina to play as the second number 6, he struggles to back into his defensive position if he gets ahead of the ball in a United attack.
In my opinion, in attack, we must improve our positioning. How often do you see moment when the ball is out wide, in the opponent's half, we make a pass back. In my opinion, sometimes Hojlund must rotate position with the other winger/attacker. Let say Bruno have the ball. Hojlund can go to right wing position and Amad can go forward. This way we have more options in front/lateral. And also to successfully bypass offside trap. Also the other winger must not go to wide when the other winger got the ball. You see the second goal happen because Amad goes centrally.
Aj, how about Manchester United signs Angelo Stiller as a Casemiro replacement. We definitely need some bodies there after imminent Casemiro departure. We can't count on Eriksen as he is also finished.

Wasn't Harry Maguire just as much culpable on the 2nd goal with a really weak jump to head the ball away? Everybody tells me that Harry is really dominant in the air but for his height he jumps terribly. also take the Yoro challenge, Maguire is on the halfway line when Yoro sprinted ahead of him to catch up to Nunez. For all the flack that De Ligt gets for this game, at least we can play him in the wide CB and he can do a job. He has to play the because it's suicide to play Maguire anywhere else.

Imo, he fits better as one of the 10s, but because of his excellent game sense he can play alongside Ugarte still, it just isn’t his best position. The thing with Ugarte is that because he is such an absolute missile around the pitch the other player with him can be a Mainoo or someone who doesn’t defend as well. It’s not perfect, but it is an acceptable pairing while we work on the squad.

The shot by Mac Allister and Gavenbache in the first half were both from his mistakes.
