I am a Swiss citizen and can say without hesitation that Switzerland would not be the country that it is, a country of peace, stability, and prosperity if it did not have strict immigration laws that are consistently enforced. I studied Islam thoroughly in university, thinking I would, while not become religious, fall in love with the culture and stories as I had with Buddhism (I'm a religious studies major). I did not. I lived in NL (Den Bosch) in the 90's and had tolerant friends. When l went back to visit them 5 years ago, that tolerance evaporated mainly because the Dutch culture was under threat. I'm an atheist of religious origin. I studied Islam thoroughly in university, thinking I would, while not become religious, fall in love with the culture and stories as I had with Buddhism (I'm a religious studies major). I did not. I lived in NL (Den Bosch) in the 90's and had tolerant friends. When l went back to visit them 5 years ago, that tolerance evaporated mainly because the Dutch culture was under threat. Being an Aussie l assimilated to the Brabants way. Even preferred Billjiards over Snooker. Why are the Turks surprised? When they came to work, they were not promised permanent residency or citizenship. Everybody, including the Turks, thought they would be there temporarily.
