I love how Japan has it's own exclusive laserdisc set depend on what movie. I'm used to hard-coded Japanese subtitles & plus I have translater app on my phone so I can translate Japanese information on the back of the Laserdisc into English. I've also been learning a little bit of Japanese lightly I'm still learning more. Overall I think Japan has the best Laserdisc releases, depending on the movie, or tv show.
Very nice. Right now I'm considering on importing the Die Hard Trilogy Laserdisc boxset from Japan because the box set, while simplistic design wise, looks cool and feels very sturdy and thick and I really like the different sleeves for each of the three films.
About Die Hard digital surround sound LD, I believe the AC3s of the first two films are the 70 mm mixes and movie 3 is the original SRD mix. Meanwhile, I believe it is rumored that is at the first 2 remix from the original stems for their DTS releases while with a Vengeance Is the original theatrical mix (technically there was DTS CDs handed out because it was officially a DTS movie, but it was unmarked as such) It was these rumored remixes that was used for the five star DVDs in the early 2000s for AC3 and DTS tracks and the later 2007 DVD Set and Blu-ray versions meanwhile, a new mix was made in the early 2000s for DieHard 3. The AC3 versions are the original 70mm(DH1&2)/SRD (DHWV) mixes presented in AC3. The Blu-ray are the DVD mixes.
If only "anamorphic video" was fully anamorphic instead of formatted for 16:9. The day we get 4:1 TVs will be GLORIOUS (even though only one movie used that ratio).
I have Superman II without OBI pan and scan, and the last release of the film in Letterbox with OBI. I once almost bought that Dirty Harry box. It was a sample pressing. Sadly once i had the money i think it was sold.
It appears that the American Gothic set contains 12 episodes in broadcast order, which is not the completely correct narrative order. It also looks like the Fear 2 set was cancelled. That's too bad. Still, each episode you have has it's own side, so the quality should be as good as possible on laserdisc. They probably should've just put two episodes per side and included the whole series. It's only 22 episodes.
Hope Mask Of The Phantasm actually turns out pretty well, cuz I have little faith in Warner Brothers. No new 1080p disc is a bad sign, nor Open Mate option has been announced.

@@shortshaker9236 while they share pretty much the same US masters overall the presentation and extremely sturdy box construction is very impressive.
Nice Spence! You've made me appreciate my LD collection all over again!

Can’t wait for the last box I sent you

Wow! another great Mystery Box. Would love to find that Dirty Harry set one day it looks great.
They really outdid themselves on packaging these sets even when it’s just a version of a previously issued US release.
Warner did VHS sets matching dragon audio

I still have my THX AC-3 edition of Aliens. It was better over some of the awful DNRed earlier DVD releases (especially the Quadrilogy edition)

Do you have any plans to cover the Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 4k Blu-ray? I look forward to your evisceration of it.
I’m definitely going to cover it when it gets released. I truly hope it doesn’t turn out as badly as other studio releases.
