The recording said it like tack-o which is how we say it in the UK, you say tah-co. That was kinda surreal watching you listen to it and still say the recording was saying it like you 😅 You gotta isolate the "a" sound to hear it properly, they were saying it like the UK. I think sometimes it's hard to hear the inflections in your own accent but at the end of the day US English is a secondary/adopted form of English so by default the original English pronunciation would be correct. If Mexicans and Spaniards pronounced an English word differently no one would be debating if Mexicans or Spaniards got it right. It would obviously be the Spaniards since they invented the language. Same with France and Haiti for example. Each country is welcome to pronounce it differently, that's why we have different accents but saying the origin country of the language says it wrong is like saying your mum talks wrong because she talks like you but different...!!
As a Hispanic, the pronunciation you have of taco is wrong and the British actually say it closer 😭
