What I would love to know now is, can we distinguish between the experience listening to a track with these and listening to the same track as pre-processed as Dolby Atmos from Apple and TIDAL via AirPods Pro (2nd Gen). Essentially, these process anything you throw at them in virtual surround. Something our TV’s and AVR’s have been doing for years. However, the tracks on streaming services have been preprocessed by the artist or producer/mixer. Is there something purer or more special about this??? Or is it maybe the same thing/result??? Also, if this is being applied virtually, does that mean it’ll actually do it while using the aptX Adaptive codec? That makes it a little more interesting because the audio should have more detail and Apple can’t offer us this yet. All they can offer is Dolby Atmos over AAC on AirPods.
I can comment on my own comment. The T90’s fully recognise and support native Dolby Atmos in your smartphone if it’s there. So, if you have a recent iPhone then you can listen to the Dolby Atmos tracks from Apple Music in exactly the same way AirPods do. I can also now say that it’s a very disappointing experience. It truly is just automated balance control. Ridiculously so. I think it’s really unnatural how the bud turned away from the virtual source is literally silenced. Just like the balance control has swung all the way to the opposite side. I can’t believe what a crap gimmick this is. The music quality is terrible compared to aptX Adaptive/Lossless. I don’t know why anyone would want to listen to think with these. It’s pathetic. Spatial audio sucks big time.
Finally my prayers were heard and u made this review! I'm a little bit dissapointed because I had the FP9s and were very good but now I'm deciding between Galaxy Buds2 Pro or the Sennheiser MTW3. Two things ended up being a bummer for me. Lack of availability in Brazil and the call quality is garbage according to some reviews. That's a shame because multipoint with up to 5 devices is dope.
It's not multipoint with 5 devices. You can only multipoint with 2 devices. You can pair and have "fast switch" with you to 5, but not true multipoint (two audio sources changing automatically based on which one emits last in most implementations). The only buds which may have more and work better are the Samsung buds pro 2, BUT they only so that with Galaxy devices, even Laptops are restricted, and they also require installing apps and creating accounts on every device ...
Do we know which exact Qualcomm SoC they’ve used here? Given the Bluetooth 5.3 specification, it seems like it might be the same QCC5171 used in the Bose QC II’s and NuraTrue Pro’s. That means it should really be supporting aptX Lossless too but like Bose, it will take a firmware update to make it available perhaps. The thing about these earbuds all sharing the same SoC… they’re probably sharing the exact same ANC technology which is made by Qualcomm. It’s not like they’re all engineering their own ANC when Qualcomm has it built-in to the SoC. So, realistically, only the Dolby Atmos head-tracking and the driver differentiate these earbuds all using the same SoC. The fact that they have Atmos head-tracking is quite amazing because Qualcomm is only getting around to adding that in the next generation SoC’s that won’t ship until H2 2023.
I also want to know what which SoC this erabus using. I think it not be QCC30xx Series. Just waiting for any disassemble video. And it seem that Qualcomm audio codec like aptx, aptx adapter, etc... need license to enable, and lg just paid for aptx adapter license.
The UFP9s made a great back up pair and had the same useful transmitter case. The price was right also at £120 (early and heavily discounted). These are too expensive for what they are. PI7s from B&W can be found for only £30 more and are in a completely different league. Again transmitter case. Same slight issue of reduced battery life though.
Problem with fp9/8 (same buds, different case features) and probably all the tone free range of 2021 is they had 2 major defects: - they dislodged the inner and outer casing of each bud due to poor glue used. Happened to me after a year and got refunded on warranty (buying the t90 because I hope they fixed that) - the case's UV led protection sheets - small transparent plastics - also got dislodged and eventually the UV lead would get moisture and break the LED maybe even the entire case board! As I said, I'm getting my t90 pair next week and hope they last longer. I am, nonetheless, a bit disappointed by their price and the fact they didn't improve battery, mic and especially ANC (which was OK to be fair). But I bought them as I liked the form factor, usability, and the fact they improved to multipoint and merged the fp8 wireless charging with the fp9 Bluetooth transmitter case

LG's whisper mode has been a feature in their earbuds since 2021. It was introduced in LG TONE Free FP9, FP8, and the FP5 (released in July 2021)

Not for me to say, but from that list you can’t go wrong with MTW3. B&O EQs are 70% off at Amazon at the moment and worth a look if they fit you.
