I remember when this first dropped. I was on holiday break from college, playing MW2 in my room - banging this shit on repeat. What a song. Captures the entire vibe both of these legends were on when they blessed us with this album. I can only wish they come back with a sequel.
I was 14 when this song came out and I was one of the biggest Ye fans out there. My anticipation for this album was through the roof, and this song was a great sample of what was a great album.
Lex Luger on Kanye's contribution to the beat: "That [opera sound on the beat] was Kanye. I liked it because he had built it around the beat I had made. The beat had a choir, but it was a regular trap, hard choir, going up and down. And what he did was, he built it around that, and made it like 600 people were really in there singing that and playing that. He put his own Kanye on it."
This is the song I play when I’m doing sprints or need to go hard at the gym. In my opinion, it’s one of the best songs either of them has done, together and individually. I love choir samples and unexpected change ups. We need more of this in the current music being put out.
Yeah but not gonna lie, the lyrics are always shit in Kanye's songs. Average rappers like Kanye are saved by the production, this song is amazing because the production is so experimental. While hearing the drop, choir and mix this just feels like I'm about to shake hands with God.
That sub at lil wayne was ridiculous…”I’m like really half a billie, nigga really you got babys money, keep it real with niggas, niggas ain’t got my ladies money” …. He went ham on that bar
I don't know bro. They had a lot of hard ones on the Watch The Throne Album. Not to mention the track they have together on the Kanye West presents GOOD Music album.
it is unbeliveable that public opinion or both kanye & jayz fans initial reaction to this banger was being underwhelmed when it first came out. it was an instant classic to me!!
Whenever I hear this song I picture my boys and I strapping up to rob a bank. Then things go wrong and a giant shootout unfolds. I'd never do such things, but thats what goes in my head with this crazy beat.
I wish modern rap music would incorporate more opera/orchestra elements in it, it sounds bloody epic
look up boosie
Yessss!!!! This opera orchestra sounds too epic
This used to be played on the radio back 2 back.... Think about that, then think of current day radio
do you guys know more songs like this ? a similar style would be with classical music like "Lord Knows" from meek mill and Tory Lanez
I had to come back to this song after hearing the Superhero meme song and how it kind of incorporates opera.
